I got kinda sorta obsessed with the singles from my Mirror, Mirror colorway I started earlier this week. I blinked and two full bobbins came off my wheel.

Based on how full I managed to get both bobbins, I have high hopes that this will end up fairly even and without a ton of leftover. But now I am super excited to try out the Lazy Kate my parents got me for Christmas!

It is all put together and I have adjusted all the bits and bobs. I just need to find some kiddo free time to sit and ply these singles together. I am by no means and expert, but I think I am going to MUCH prefer this to the cardboard boxes and knitting needle setup I had before.
I’ll keep you posted!
Very curious about what a Lazy Kate is and what she does.
Not an expert, but big picture, it’s a bobbin holder that you can put slight tension on your bobbins for plying. It helps to keep your singles coming off the bobbin evenly as you ply.
Wow, that is some good-looking yarn. Can’t wait to see it once plied.
It looks great. Do you not like the built in lazy Kate?
My Kiwi 3 doesn’t have one that I’m aware of. But I’m a super novice spinner and my husband assembled the wheel for me, lol
The place at the bottom where you keep bobbins is a lazy kate. I have a Kiwi 2, I’m jealous yours is more portable.
Ah, yes. Then I don’t especially like them. For my skill level they are too close to all the moving parts of hands and feet and wheel.
Thank you for explaining! I have only been spinning for two months and I’m curious as to the best way to do things.
