The birds finally accepted my offerings! Remember my cobbled together “yarn feeder” I put out last summer? Well it sat completely full all summer, fall and winter. I guess I missed prime best building season.
But spring has sprung and my yarn bits are quickly disappearing!
And they don’t appear to be picky. The cotton, wool, blends, and acrylic are all being used.
Now if only I could spot some nests with my bright bits sticking out!

I love this idea! I wanted to do this so bad, but my husband was convinced the yarn bits would fly out and scatter all over the yarn. He never lets me have any fun.
I didn’t have that problem and I used an old grill basket/flipper thing… You know just in case you wanted to prove a point to your hubby lol

We tried this about a month ago. I saved my bits all winter long (there were a lot!). We just scattered them about the bird feeder area and stuck them into the bark on the trees. I don’t think a single bird has taken any! I will have to try this next year. A suet feeder cage might work well, too. Love this post!

I put some out last year and I had nothing happen. Maybe this year. We’re a little behind so maybe they’ll still take them…

That is so cute! My mom’s birds have been ignoring our yarn this year, but one winter we noticed our yarn up in the nests once the trees were bare, that was a bonus day!
