While organizing my craft room yesterday I came across A LOT of yarn odds and ends. And a thought popped into my brain. Something neat I had seen on Pinterest and in other blogs. Why not snip the bits and peices and put in a cage outside for nesting birdies?
I grabbed a grilling/hamburger cage from the discount store…
And my bag of leftovers…
Fill cage with yarn and close!
I hung the contraption outside in our apple tree and viola!
Now I just have to wait and see if the little birdies take the bait…stay tuned…

What a great idea!
I love that you’re doing that! I’ve been doing that for years. I keep a cute little basket for little threads and yarn bits. Also consider adding some dryer lint when you’ve dried a load of 100% cotton, like towels. Very linty and all cotton. They love it.
Thanks for the tip!
Fab idea…I wondered what to do with my odds and ends.
I cannot wait to see if this works, what an awesome idea! I may totally steal this by the way, I’ll be sue to give you credit though!
I think we need progress shots! Take a photo in a week. I wonder if they prefer certain colours? I think I should leave some out too!
I think my cottons will go first but who knows! I’ll update next week 🙂
Actually – they prefer wool! But – they will also swoop down and grab tufts of dog hair from the grass after I finish brushing my Lab outside.
