I LOVE Ravelry….but it’s a slippery slope! My project queue has been clogged, congested, and outdated. Never fear! I pruned the list from 150+ to less than 100 projects π
See here!
I used some guidelines:
1. Nothing under DK weight unless it’s a special sport weight project. I just don’t feel the love of tiny yarn on small needles
2. I still have to love the photo of the project in question
3. All projects must have “tags” so I can use the tabs feature to sort through faster (seriously if you don’t use this … START NOW ITS AWESOME)
4. Sweaters, sweaters, and more sweaters
Easy peasy! Please feel free to peruse my list! And if you like, link your queue in the comments. I love to see what other knitters drool over π
Now…..to tame my favorites list….

Oh, I lament the lack of hours in the day! π
I am also definitely implementing your guidelines in future. Thank you!
The clutter, even electronic, can really get under my skin! Good luck!
Well done. Now I feel the need to update mine. I have virtually no projects listed, but loads going.
I pruned mine too and I matched my stash with projects. Yes, tagging is an awesome feature and I use it too!
I did that once but I’m such a fickle knitter I kept changing my mind!! I have “oh….shiny!” disease when it comes to yarn/pattern combo. Bravo to you!
True… Once I start knitting with the yarn, depending on the drape or look I was going for, all that matching project to yarn may be for naught.
I just did that with my favorites … much better!
I have been trying to be better organized with my Ravelry and this is inspiring. So much has changed/improved since the Beta days and after a long time away, I’m loving the changes. Tabs?! What are these tabs you speak of? π I’m linking my queue for those who need a laugh or vindication. It is a work in progress just to get all my stash and patterns listed but I shall forge ahead with the organizing this year too. Great inspiration!

Tabs (or the folder looking things) are the best! They use your “tags” to sort through your long list to make smaller/easier to use lists!
Ps. Your queue is awesome π

I will have to go hunt you down on Ravelry.
I added you as a friend. User name is GFAfanMissy
Good for you! I know I’m a slow knitter, so I’m more likely to favorite than queue…consequently that’s the list that’s gotten very long: http://www.ravelry.com/people/antiquotidian/favorites
Oh, it may be long but there are some treasures in there!! Love it π
I love the new Rav features! I recently pruned my queue, too, but have yet to add stash yarns to get everything up to date – so much handspun, so little time π
http://www.ravelry.com/people/SODesigns/queue
Hey, at least there are spaces for handspun now!!
It was a very welcome addition to Rav. Now where are the sewing projects tabs? π
My queue is so minimal that it’s almost pathetic (http://www.ravelry.com/people/quienfuera/queue). It’s the favorites list that is slowly growing into a huge monster (not unlike my under-bed craft supply cave).
Love it!! “Crafty supply cave” also made my day…..it doesn’t count if you can’t see it right?
I actually go by the “it doesn’t count if my boyfriend doesn’t notice it” rule. It (usually) works very well… (:
Bravo! I soooooo need to clean my Rav queue, too….such a virtual mess! I have been neglecting my Ravelry account so badly lately…just using it as a storage receptacle for everything my eyes fall in love with…you’ve inspired me to get cleaning. I completely agree with #1 which is probably why I don’t ever knit the second sock in a pattern. I did notice that Susan B Anderson wrote a sock pattern for worsted weight yarn, have you knit that one?
I have not knit that one…..but I’m intrigued! Off to Ravelry I go!!
Fingers crossed you knit the pattern soon & inspire me to get going! π
That’s some impressive pruning! My queue is normally pretty short and manageable – but that’s only becasue my favourites are a complete state. My knitting preferences are the opposite of yours though – I just had a look and everything in my queue is in fingering weight yarn.
You are a far more patient knitter than I!
Nothing under DK? That would weed out at least half of my list. Well, you know what you enjoy knitting. As for me, I don’t think I could bear to cross off all the fine-yarn projects.
I wish I liked them more because they are BEYOND gorgeous but I just get no enjoyment out of the process
My queue is very short. I’m trying to treat the queue as things I actually plan to knit relatively soon. It turns out I don’t really use it that often as I adjust things on the fly in real life and can’t be bothered to deal with a “virtual” list, too.
My “favorites” list is crazy long. I do use tags for that, and they are a huge help. I don’t care that that list is long – I consider it a place to keep track of things I liked and might knit at some point, or just things I’m in awe of.
Ooooh, I love a bit of yarn porn on Ravelry. I don’t really use my queue, but I’m ruthless about tagging things in favourites so that I can easily call them up. That’s the great thing about Rav – you can use it in a way that works for you. Tangled, your projects are beautiful.
(I’m Occles on Rav, by the way.)
Yep, I have to do that every few months too. I try to only keep things in my queue that I actually plan to make, but sometimes my plans change rather abruptly!
I love the tags! I spent hours organizing my favorites with tags. I figured out the best thing is to not go too expansive so I used tags for types of clothing (top/bottom/hat/feet) and size (baby/child/adult).
This way if I’m looking for a baby it is easy to find. I multi-tag items that fit various categories. I started off with lots of misc tags and regretted it…had to go back and fix it to be simple.
Same here I divided between adult/baby and then basic garment type
I feel your pain! My queue is 300+ and I’ve accepted the fact that I’m never going to knit everything! I sometimes feel like I spend more hours in the day browsing Ravelry patterns than I do actually knitting the patterns I’ve found. Its a vicious cycle. Good for you for making your queue more manageable!
