During my tomato madness last weekend I decided to pull a project from my Pigskin Party KAL prep. I cast on for the Reyna Shawl by Noora Laivola.
I had some beautiful speckled Hawthorn Speckle Handpaint in the Cosmic Speckle in my stash. This yarn told me it needed to be something squishy in garter stitch. ย I’m loving how the pops of color are popping up!
This pattern is just so amazing. It’s a free pattern and has been knit over 5,000 times. I’m probably the last person on Ravelry to stumble on this one, lol. The pattern fits on one page, it’s well written, and you guys it has a row tracker check box thingy! With as much as I have to pick up and put down my knitting this is a life saver! I completed the cast on, one garter section and one lace section in one sitting.
I can quickly feel this project becoming addicting!! This yarn is just so yummy I can’t wait to see the finished product. I was thinking this was going to go into the gift box…but I may not be able to part with it!!
Happy Knitting!!
I’m always looking for other things to make with sock yarn. I picked three patterns from her. I like your yarn, too, with the little sprinkles of color.
Oh my gosh, I’m working on that pattern too! I’m using a Lorna Lace sock yarn in a Christmas colorway and it is so pretty! I’ll have a pic in my late WIP Wednesday post. I had cast on back in July, but set it aside because i kept getting distracted by other projects. I still have some going on, but I thought it was time to pick it up anyway.
Im ADDICTED to this project for some reason. I wake up thinking about it at night โบ๏ธ
Well, it’s a really interesting pattern. I’m not surprised. ๐
I love this pattern! I have made t a couple of times, but still haven’t got one of my own yet! I pocked up so lovely silk/merino hand painted for it this summer, I will get to it… eventually!
Maybe second to last! I like the color of the yarn you’re using, and it will be so neat to see how it turns out. I have only started to get into shawl knitting, and this might have to go into my queue for when the mood strikes to tackle one that maybe won’t be too complex for me to finish, too. ๐
It’s so easy and the check boxes in the pattern are the best thing since sliced bread.
I forgot to ask, since the pattern doesn’t list a gauge or certain needle size (I understand why, but need a starting point), what size are you using?
Clover bamboo in US 4s. I don’t know how long my cord is….but it’s too long and gets in my way. But that’s what I have to work with, lol
Thanks! Yes, I was thinking maybe 4 or 5. I’ll have to see which I have around that isn’t in use, with somewhere longer than 16 and shorter than 40″ ๐
So glad you got around to that pattern! I made it this summer and absolutely loved it! After making that pattern, I felt like every designer should have to include a row tracker – maybe the best part of the pattern:)
I have had it in my queue for awhile; however I still haven’t made it yet either! One day when I don’t have a million billion other projects ๐
