Let’s Fence

Our patio fence had started to lean last year so we had to pull the two panels and re-cement the post. And it was covered in algae. So we pulled out our power washer and got to work. Okay, I hired a college student to do it.

We still need to reseal the fence with some oil or finish. And then I have BIG plans: outdoor solar lights, hammock time, clean concrete, trimmed trees. Basically an outside oasis for mom since the family has taken over the rest of the house.

Honestly, it feels good to make some progress on long standing house projects!!

The Yarn Is Safe

We woke up to this surprise this past week. Just about an inch to 1/2 inch of water in the laundry room and basement guest room. Many cuss words were said and we immediately set to emergency response. My yarn lives in the basement, but it is safe. Thanks the deities!

The sump pump died and chaos ensued. We moved all the items, installed new sump, and did ever so much cleaning. We are probably 18 hours of work in and the carpet is still drying and EVERYTHING smells bad. I did however lose an entire box of my knitting books, including all my yarn harlot books….

For now the silver lining is that plastic totes saved our butts and it gave me a chance to really purge in the storage area. I’m on two loads of donations and I have 5 totes of kids clothes identified as my next project.

I’m really excited to get back to knitting!!

Houston, We Have Couches!

My parents are handing down their living room set to us for our new house. And after a month of sitting on camping chairs in my living room, they got them delivered!!! (Complete with washable cloth covers to combat puppy hair)

So glad to have a couch and love seat! And of course you can see that I have already made them my knitting nest! And I adore the rug with these couches.

It’s rich and pulls in all the colors of the room. Plus it’s basic as I don’t like things to be overly fussy. Not to mention I picked it up for a steal at Kmart!

It’s really starting to feel like home!! Now I’m off to do some knitting in my nest.

Happy Knitting!

New House Day!!!

Today’s the day!!!!

The hubs and I are about to sign documents to purchase our first ever home. At 11 am we will be homeowners and have a boatload of debt….oh wait, we already have student loans!

This whole process has been fraught with ups and downs. Buying a home in this economy is not easy. And I will freely admit I cried several times…

I cannot wait to show you guys photos as we get set up in our new home!!

Stay tuned…..

Holy Cow!!!!

Well it was an exciting weekend in household. The hubs and I found a house!!!!!! Literally on our first swing. We looked at 6 homes on Saturday and put an offer on one we fell in love with on Sunday. It has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, fenced backyard, and a two car garage. And it was a short sale by the owner so we got a great deal.

I can’t wait to show you how beautiful this house is! It has the space and storage we desperately need. And I will finally get a craft space of my own πŸ™‚

On top of this my play, A Perfect Wedding, had started rehearsals. So in the next 45 days I have to learn an entire show, pack all my worldly goods, and get set up in our first home! I am still going to try to keep up my knitting. I have some very exciting WIPs!!

I just hope I come out on the other side with my sanity!!!
