2021 Advent: Day 5

My fingers are aching a little bit, but day five is complete from my 2021 Chromatic Yarns advent calendar. This color was called Merfolk and I think its a fitting name for this lovely blue.

I’m getting the pattern memorized into my brain. I still have to refer to the patterns for the heel turns but other than that I can cruise right along. I pulled some ribbon from my stash to determine if it was the right medium to hang my items. I think some experimentation is order as I’m not sure I found the right thing.

Now, on to day six! Happy Knitting!!

2021 Advents: Day 4

A lazy day still neglecting to take down all of the Christmas decorations has brought to you a new tiny sweater and two new tiny socks.

This was day four of the 2021 Chromatic Yarns advent calendar. It was a beautiful golden rod color. This D&D inspired color was called Yochlol. I have not a stinking clue what that means as I don’t follow that genre but I can appreciate beauty in all forms.

On to day five! Happy Knitting!!!

Ghosts Of Advents Past (Part 1)

With all the festivities this year, I decided to pull out my 2021 Chromatic Yarns advent calendar. I had this big plan last holiday to knit 24 tiny little socks. Yeah…..that never materialized, lol.

I’m feeling a little more grounded this year so I re-evaluated and decided that the socks should be pairs. I have managed to finish two pairs and almost done with a third. These are the first three advent days in order.

When they get done, I am thinking of stitching them to a ribbon decorative twine to make a garland. But let’s get over the hurdle of 48 total tiny socks. It takes me half an evening of knitting to make a sock if I can stay off my phone. So maybe a Q1 2023 goal?

Happy Knitting!!

All The Advents

In the chaos of December I completely forgot to share my advent calendars. That’s right I splurged on more than one….no regrets.

First up was the Chromatic Yarns 2021 advent calendar. I felt quite creative when I pressed Jellybean’s remote school calendar into use for holding my daily packages!

Also from the UK is the Bird and Blend Tea advent calendar. This was a first for me. I ended up enjoying most days but for sure some the teas were not in my wheelhouse. I would do this one again because it made my stretch my boundaries.

Last up was the Queen City Yarn Home Alone inspired advent calendar. This was an advent my husband got for me in June as an anniversary present. The packing was on point and the mini skeins made a beautiful fade.

When I get my sh*t together and recover from Christmas I will share the actual yarn, lol.

Happy Knitting!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Happy Christmas Eve to all who observe and happy holidays to the multitude of other December celebrations. I am ready for Christmas and some down time!

I took our wee ones to a local light display that was STUNNING. And they even had a sheep set up, lol. Not to mention this knitter was able to stay warm using my Basic Baby Blend Hat and Volcano Trail.

I wish a peaceful weekend to all and I will see you on the other side!!

Looming For Christmas

Nothing like leaving your to do list for the last minute. I realized that my Aunt Barb had requested some new potholders for Christmas or her birthday. So here I am weaving frantically at the 11th hour.

I am using my loom from the 1990s and new loops from Lotta Loops. This particular set of loops are pastels. My brain is on Christmas overload so I am not doing any crazy patterns. Just two tone colors that I think look good together. So far I have a warm color and a cool color one.

There are two in the bank and I would like to crank out two more….do you think I can make it?

Happy Holidays!!

Daughter Brownie Points

My dad is healing nicely from his procedure but is still in a sling. So I wracked up some major daughter brownie points by hanging his exterior Christmas lights. He purchased new LED lights this that really make his house look incredible

We still need one more string to replace the yellow ones on the bottom left. But he was SO happy with the finished look. With Christmas fast approaching we are all glad that his house is ready and festive!

Happy Monday!!

Christmas Baking

I was looking through my camera roll on my found some of my favorite photos of the season and I wanted to share.

First up….baking with a 6 year old and 2 year old equals flour EVERYWHERE. Including all over the two year old who got too close to the mixer when we added flour.

Next up the 6 year old’s version of sugar cooking decorating complete with extra frosting.

And finally about 1 bazillion almond bark coated pretzels. These are the reason I need legging post Christmas :O

The chaos is *almost* worth the memories! I sure hope my kids remember all the fun when they are bigger. Anyone have a favorite christmas memory to share?

Cookie Cravings

Happy New Years to all! Now, maybe it was pregnancy in general or the fact that PB (the nickname I have given this fetus = picky baby) has rejected most things I have tried to eat lately……but I NEEDED rolled sugar cookies this holiday. It was just an irrational craving I could not kick.

I baked a batch two weeks before Christmas and then promptly got an upper respiratory virus and didn’t get anything done for 15 days. I was disappointed the cookies were stale by the time I was ready to frost them. So on Christmas weekend I baked a fresh batch and nabbed some buttercream and decorations from my Aunt Barb. And boy howdy did I go to town!

Everyone else cleared out to go to Ferdinand and I had three hours of peace and frosted quietness. My decorating skills leave something to be desired but the cookies were scrumptious and JUST what I wanted. The cookies didn’t last long either!

What was your holiday craving this year?
