I’ve been sidelined by shingles. Not to worry they are very mild yet still fairly painful and annoying on the back of my right arm. It has made knitting uncomfortable. So here are some photos of the September Kansas skies to distract you from the fact I have little knitting to share😜!

Not long ago we made the trek to my parents house to take a family photo. It was something my sister and I arranged for our parents anniversary this past summer. We just had to wait until after jellybean was born, lol.
It was pretty cool in Kansas that day so jellybean had to be wrapped up in a blanket in most all the photos. But they are gorgeous nonetheless!
The photographer is a long time family friend and very talented. Feel free to check out her website!! She is located in North Central KS for any readers in the area.
Now the conundrum is which photos to pick!
Instagram: Friend or Foe?
I had coffee with a knitting friend this past week and we have an lively discussion of the pros and cons of Instagram as it relates to knitting. I am firmly in the pro camp and she was firmly in the con camp. (Don’t worry we didn’t start jousting with our needles or anything and we are still friends)
- It helps grow and support the fiber arts community
- I can learn about new techniques or constructions
- I use it to publicize my blog
- I get great pattern ideas and yarn ideas
- It’s short and to the point and I can peruse quickly on hectic days
- It encourages people who are not photographers to pretend to be said photographers
- Photos are often so distorted you can tell what the project really looks like
- It encourages short attention spans
- It doesn’t have the long term viability like Ravelry and it will most likely die out like all social media platforms
Now I don’t want to start an internet firestorm because she has some good points and so do I. I told her I would pose the question to the blog-o-sphere and see what response we could get. We value all opinions of every shape, size, and color. All thoughts are welcome!
So, what are your thoughts on Instagram and Knitting?
After this past weekend’s funk…I needed some inspiration or maybe just a good pick me up.
Fall has been relatively good to us in Kansas this year (knock on wood). And this has let me get lots of walks in with my four legged children, including last night (2.5 miles…woot!). We walk all over the neighborhood, but I find myself drawn to one street in particular. Here’s why…
This tree is so vibrant and beautiful that photos literally do not do it justice!
I so badly want to knit a sweater in this color or maybe just roll around on yarn this shade, either way lol!!
I’m in love….
What inspires you during fall?
The Calm Before the Storm
This fall we have had some great thunderstorms roll through the great state of Kansas. I managed to snap a few photos with my DSLR camera before the the last storm rolled through. I am in love with how puffy the clouds get! The hot air mixing the cool. Grass and flowers waving the breeze. Your skin prickling with the change in energy. Clouds growing and collapsing. The light versus the dark….
