Knitting In A Fjord

The Bibliophile 2 sweater is going to be well traveled. I’m not sure if I was in a bay or a fjord so I picked fjord because it sounds prettier.

We sailed out of the bay and I sat on our balcony watching nature go by. I think I have added maybe 3 inches to the body by this point of the trip?

I can’t help but want to transport back to this view. Turquoise water, snowy peaks and bright blue skies. We really lucked out with the weather on this trip for the most part.

All of the crazy weather happened back home with tornados, flooding and downed trees. Not the most relaxing to come back to!

Alaskan Books

Jellybean has inherited my love of books. And we found a local used book store in Juneau.

I picked up three new books. Treasure Hunt is a series of murder mystery I think? Little Fires Everywhere is fiction and a Netflix show that looked good. And then Truly Devious I just picked up because it looked pretty.

Jellybean grabbed one kid’s fantasy novel, a fiction that also might be science fiction and then a kid’s murder mystery/detective novel.

Suitcases were stretched tight but we got all these home! And I made good progress on The Mad Wife that I started reading on the plane ride.

Happy Reading!

Juneau Woolies Haul

I was able to find yarn in Alaska! First stop was Juneau and Juneau Woolies. Walked up a very steep hill to get there but it was worth it.

The shop was quant and did a great job on the window display. My kids preferred the ice cream shop next door though.

I picked up some spinning fiber in a bright purple and it’s a merino/tencel blend. Next up was some Juneau Woolies hand dyed yarns. I picked up a mohair lace for more fuzzy hats with some of their cashmere merino sock yarn. Then two skeins of their worsted for hats and an Aran weight skein for maybe some mittens. And finally a wee mini skein for scrap blankets.

Oh and I grabbed some wool wash in cash I magically need to block something in this trip! Hahahah, wishful thinking.

Next Jellybean and I found a used book store on the way back to the boat!

Sweater With A View Of Glacier

Okay, break from The Green Hat. I took a flyer and packed my Bibliophile 2 in my checked luggage so I could knit a sweater in the wild north.

We got to see the Hubbard Glacier on day two and it was so majestic. We got to watch from our balcony and learn all about this ancient ice.

After the glacier experience, I took a break from Mom duties in order to relax on a couch in the adults only area before dinner. I just watched beautiful ice floes and knit round and round.

The neck band is finished and I’m just cruising down the body. I have no deadline for this and I’m just living in the moment. The views are once in a lifetime ❤️

Seward Here We Came

After landing in Anchorage we needed to get to port in Seward so we booked a guided wildlife tour. We saw a wildlife sanctuary and had lunch on a lake.

I am really motoring through Jellybean’s beanie. He has creatively called this “The Green Hat”. It’s super soft and lovely to knit. I managed to get the folded brim done and start up the main body hat while ogling mountains and bald eagles.

I am absolutely making this a print for my house and/or office!

Pinch Me

I got to hold a 9 week old sled dog puppy on our first day on the boat. I was as happy as my face shows!

She was sleepy sleepy and had beautiful blue eyes. I can’t remember her name but I can remember how dense her fur felt and how’s she cuddled into my arms to fall asleep.

Okay, I promise more knitting content tomorrow. Don’t tell Duke I cheated on him!

Cast On: The Green Hat

Summer vacation is here and we have some fun travel! I am posting this after we have returned as internet safety is real.

We went to Alaska for a family cruise! Alaska has been on my dad’s bucket list and he turns 70 this year. So we flew to Anchorage to start our adventure.

I grabbed the two skeins of Potions Yarns that I bought at KITH KC to start Jellybeans’s next winter hat. It’s just my basic 88 stitch folded beanie but with a sock yarn and mohair held together. I got a lot done thanks to 8 hours of flying and some Diet Coke.

I was going to start a murder mystery book but Jellybean left his book in the car at the airport so he is reading that one now. Ah, parenting. Don’t worry, I have others!

Happy Knitting!!

Lopsided Stripes

I was using my 2018 Cozy Knitter Advent Socks as dark knitting this week. I thought I was alternating stripes on each one. Turns out I was knitting more on one than the other!

Looks like I am heading towards a blue section. I am not mad at it. These is really nice yarn and it’s comforting to just go round and round all day long.

Happy Knitting!!

Bibliophile 2 Collar

The Bibliophile 2 collar is complete!

This crew neck collar is a whole whack of twisted rib. Which is interesting as the cuffs were not to be done in twisted rib? Most muggles won’t notice anyway but it does seem odd. There is the outside chance I read the pattern wrong.

I do have some travel plans upcoming so I think I am going to consolidate this down to suitcase knitting. I’ll get a ziplock/flat pack bag to shrink it down for less space and only pack those tools I need. Hoping I can finish on the trip to take some fun photos.

Happy Knitting!!

Cast On: Sharing Creativity Cowl #2

I couldn’t help myself and it was easy to do because I still had all the supplies rounded up, I cast on another Sharing Creativity SB Cowl

I used the last end from the first skein and then joined the full second skein. I will just tuck in the ends. This was my knitting that kept me sane during a public work meeting that went to 11:50 pm.

I still have a ways to go on the increases but it’s a solid start. I still don’t love increasing on this super bulky but I shall persevere!

Happy Knitting!!
