The emotional support chicken now has a beak!
I ended up finding some Malabrigo singles in a bright yellow from my hat leftover stash. I held it single and I kind wish I had held it double. Might try that on the next version. I also grabbed some red leftovers of Cashloft from the hat leftovers as well.
I just need to knit the chest piece and sew everything up! Happy Knitting!!
Thick yarn on big needles really makes a project fly by! I have completed most of the body of my Emotional Support Chicken.
My crochet join of the tail region could use some work but it’s secure and I can always add more rows to cover. I am working with uneven handspun so it doesn’t hide my sins as easily as a commercial yarn.
Next up I need to start and shape the head. And see if I have any polyfill in my crafting stash. I don’t make a ton of toys so it’s not a guarantee…

I am finally getting my Emotional Support Chicken on the needles. I have a whole bag of crunchy woolly and rough handspun that will be great for this type of project.
I chose not to swatch as I am not aiming for a specific size of finished toy. I am just making sure that I have a tight gauge to keep the stuffing on the inside. I chose US 7s and this handspun is worsted to bulky weight.
This is a lot of my early handspun that is pretty thick and thin. The dark brown is unknown wool and the lighter is romney. We will see how this knits up. I still need to track down some yellow and red accent for the beak and comb.

I have finished my Dumpster Fire 2020 ornament! And the the duplicate stitch was bad but not insurmountable.
Pattern: Dumpster Fire 2020 by Kino Knits (Rav Link)
Yarn: Wonderland Yarns and Frabjous Fibers Mad Hatter yarn the Dumpster Fire colorway
Needles: US 4
Mods: Only modification was to use a US 4 needle instead of a 3 because that it what I had at hand.
This pattern was pretty quick and I would totally do again. Which is good because this one ornament only used about 40 yards of the 300 yard kit. For now this is photographed on my tree (yes its still up…the world is crazy and the tree makes me happy) and it will eventually get tucked away with the Christmas decorations.
For sure I need more practice on duplicate stitch but the numbers are legible and look normal-ish from farther away, lol. All in all this project was very carthartic!

I couldn’t help myself. I may have ordered a Dumpster Fire kit from Frabjous Fibers/Wonderland Yarns. And now I have knit all the pieces to the Kino Knits 2020 Dumpster Fire ornament. (Rav link)
This yarn is simply wonderful and the pieces very much flew off my needles in a single evening. I have soaked and blocked them into their respective shapes. Now I just have to wait for them to dry so I can assemble. Not really looking to the duplicate stitching of the year but I shall persevere!

I have a finished Baby Yoda! And the hubby loves it. I am really pleased with the whole project. The eyes could be a little bit bigger but they were all I had without going to the store and my husband didn’t seem to notice/care.

One of my husband’s online gaming friends already asked if I could knit another one and he would pay me. I replied that “knitting is like sex, if I like you then its free. If not, then you can’t pay me enough”. That got a pretty good hearty internet laugh. But in all honestly I told them that I have enough on my plate and I don’t have the bandwidth to work extra projects at the moment. Felt good to be honest! Life is to short for obligation knitting.

Baby Yoda now has arms and hands! This whole toy is knit flat seamed up which makes it easy to knit and fiddly to assemble. The arms turned out pretty good but I am considering starching the ears to make them more “yoda-like”.
Next up….I need to dig through my odds and bits to figure out two eyes and a nose. Then this can be wrapped up and gifted!

I managed dig around in my stash and come up with some Baby Yoda sweater yarn. I ended up using some Knit Picks Swish in squirrel heather held double to make a “bulky” yarn. The color isn’t quite as cream as the pattern and its not a true bulky yarn but I think its suitable enough.
I still need to fiddle with placement and get the coat to roll and overlap nicely. Baby Yoda has a really cozy oversized sweater look. I think I will use ends to tack the sweater to the body….just in case PB or Jellybean get any ideas of undressing him.
Next up….I need to work out the arms….

My husband didn’t have much under the Christmas tree this year as he tends to buy the things he wants when he wants them instead of saving any for gift ideas. So I got a wild hair to make him a little baby Yoda for his gaming desk as a winter surprise.
I am using the free Baby Yoda pattern by Kim Konen. (Rav link) I managed to knock out the body and head in one sitting. My fabric is a little loose and I can see the polyfil inside. I probably should have swatched and then gone down a needle size. But I’m plowing ahead…its a toy and for a grown adult. It’s good enough, lol
I am using Malabrigo Rios green scraps from my Weekender Sweater. I still need to dig in my stash to find suitable Yoda sweater yarn. It’s been tricky to work on this because I want it to be a surprise so I have to work on this after the kids go to bed but before my husband comes to bed.

In an attempt deal with my current load of stress..I’m knitting more F Bombs! My second one is off the needles!
I really think my duplicate stitch needs work but is improving. This time I held the red yarn held double double to see if I can improve the coverage and making the F more pronounced. I think I like how the stitches stick out, but I think I can make the stitches more cohesive.
I’m giving myself a break considering I’ve been a supervisor for 60 days and a worldwide pandemic has hit in the meantime. I’m going to keep knitting through adversary and strife! I think I’m going to start a third F Bomb…..
