Snowy Finished Socks

A snowy finish to share this week! My 2023 Christmas Eve Socks are complete with frosty photo shoot!

Pattern: My own toe up 60 stitch sock with Wendy B Johnson gusset heel

Yarn: Lilliput Rudy’s Sport in Tail Wagging colorway

Needles: US 2s

Mods: very little but I did add some leg increases to accommodate my calves

These socks have the perfect amount of ease. I do find that the feet portion are maybe 3-4 rows too long. The toes have a little too much fabric to them in my boots. But they will work. The variegation really played out nicely in this FO. It kind of reminds me of some vintage Christmasy types of decor and ornaments.

I do have another skein of sport weight yarn picked out to start. I also have the advent leftovers on the needles. I should buckle down and finish those but I am going to follow my whims and work a little on both!

Happy Knitting!!

Car Socks

A recent car trip allowed me to finish the gusset heel on my first 2023 Christmas Eve Cast On socks. Added some color to the rather brown and bland landscape of winter in Kansas.

I will plan to weigh my sock and my ball of yarn to find the total weight. I will pull out the yarn to find halfway and make two (hopefully) equal socks by weight. I don’t use this weight of yarn to make anything scrappy so using all of the yarn is preferable.

Goals: Finish this first sock by week end! Happy Knitting!!

Christmas Eve Socks Progress

I kinda forgot how fast sport weight yarn will go after working so many socks in fingering weight. I have already completed the first foot of my 2023 Christmas Eve Cast On Socks!

Bonus points for them matching my softest and most comfy emotional support leggings. For the socks I need to take some official measurements and then start working my go to gusset heel from Wendy B Johnson. Her patterns/blog are no longer available but you can find them using the Wayback internet thingy.

I don’t know who these socks will be for. They are thicker yarn and more like a boot sock but I am also making them to my measurements. Just flowing with the knitting and I will work out the rest later.

Happy Knitting!!

Hat For Dayzzzzz

I am SOOOOO close to starting the deceases on my Variegated Musselburgh hat!

My hat is almost 18 inches and I still have a good sized yarn cake left to knit. So I am fairly certain that I can knit to the full 20 inches before the decreases. I might be measuring more often that is necessary for the speed at which I knit.

My family really commented that they love the micro stripes that seem to be appearing in the body of this hat. That is really the fun of variegated yarn, you can really get some cool effects depending on your gauge.

Now…off to the knitting! Happy Knitting!!
