Tubes On The Go

My leftover socks got some windshield time during a recent spring break vacation. We took the kiddos skiing for the first time and they had fun and I discovered I am SUPER out of shape for skiing.

These will definitely be shorties. I have 4-5 stripes left before I run out of yarn. After some quick math, I will do one more round of plain stockinette and then finish the rest of the yarn in ribbing. I do like working these in tandem so that I avoid second sock syndrome!

I still haven’t done any stash diving to find heel yarn. The plan is to cut in afterthought heels with a contrast. The original advent socks used white but I will see what I have in stash that is comparable to this base.

Happy Knitting!!

Near The End With Day 23

I should have made more progress this weekend but I almost done with Day 23 on this granny stripe crochet blanket. It’s fairly large but I’m still stubbornly considering this a travel project! (probably will need a good wash…)

I thought I was starting to deduce the color scheme of this Queen City Yarn advent calendar. It’s not exactly a fade or a rainbow…..but maybe a cousin of both?

Now…..let’s finish this!!! Happy Crochet!!

FO Friday: 2022 Advent Socks

My 2022 Advent Socks are in the books!

Pattern: My own toe up vanilla sock recipe with 68 stitches

Yarn: Cozy Knitter Bliss Sock in the 2022 Advent color

Needles: US 1s

Mods: none

The toes and heels are made from Leading Man Fiber Arts Showstopper gradient in the ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’. I decided not to use it for the cuff as I wouldn’t have had enough for both socks.

For the main self-striping, I only used one repeat of the 24 stripe sequence. So I have enough to make a whole other pair of socks! I think all combined these socks have 267 yards of yarn. They are just taller than ankle socks.

The one stripe per day was very addicting. I think I only had two or three days in the month where I was unable to make time to knit them. And in what felt like no time flat, I had a whole pair of socks fall off the needles! Ten out of ten, I will do this kind of advent again!

Happy Knitting and Happy New Year!!
