Cast On: 2025 Cozy Knitter Advent Socks

It’s December 1st and that means it’s time to cast on advent socks!

True to my habits, I grabbed the Cozy Knitter 24 stripe advent for 2025. I prepped both toes with the contrast skein and I’m ready to start the first stripe later today. I do plan to use the contrast yarn to add flecks in between color changes.

This may mean I won’t be able to do the heels in the contrast. And that is a future Rachelle problem 😝

Happy Knitting!!

Finished: 2024 Advent Socks Take Two

I cranked on my 2024 Advent Socks Take Two and those puppies are DONE!

Pattern: My own 68 stitch “recipe” for toe up vanilla socks and an afterthought heel

Yarn: 2024 Advent Stripe from The Cozy Knitter Bliss base and one mini skein of Red Door Fibers Heels & Toes in Hint of Grey

Needles: US 1s

With the added contrast heels, toes and cuffs and then the little flecks, this project racked up 351 yards of yarn. And I was pleasantly surprised that they fit was good. The alterations I made to the afterthought heel worked and I didn’t make these too large.

Really pleased with how matched these came out. And it feels just satisfying to use up every bit of the Advent skein and contrast AND a bonus mini skein. I love marking my yarn “completely used up” in Ravelry. The floats do give the socks a texture on the inside and they may not make the best boot socks. Perhaps socks for being cozy around the house?

I will definitely work this fleck again as I like how it add some visual interest. Happy Knitting!!

Finished: 2024 Advent Socks

All tucked in cozy over here in the new year with some glamour shots of my 2024 Advent Socks!

Pattern: My own “recipe” for 68 stitch toe up vanilla socks and afterthought heel

Needles: US 1s

Yarn: 2024 24 stripe advent skein from The Cozy Knitter with her Bliss base

I decided to finish these socks with the striping yarn and not the white. I decided to use that partial mini skein I had left for another project/plan. The finished length is more than an ankle sock but less than mid calf. All in all I think I used 270 yards of yarn combined and I have a full set of the 24 stripes left.

I did insert an afterthought heel and I tweak this to fit my large foot. I add extra plain rows at the beginning of the sock and taper down to add depth for me. It’s not fool proof but the socks don’t get sucked into my shoes.

This color set wasn’t my favorite of her past advent skeins but I still love the finished socks. I wasn’t sure why we progressed to the lighter colors and then back to saturated colors?

Happy Knitting!!

Gotta Catch Up

My advent leftover socks got a little lopsided this past week. I got so caught up in the conversation I was having that the one on the right got much farther.

I think the red one is stripe 14 so that sock is halfway and the other is just shy. I still really enjoy this yarn and this knitting project lives in my work bag for meetings and doctor’s appointments.

I am making these over 68 stitches instead of 72 like my December advent socks. My other socks fit but have neutral ease instead of negative ease. I don’t feel time pressure with this project so I just let it ebb and flow.

Happy Knitting!!

Ready To Advent….Again

I am getting this advent project in by the wire! I finished the toes of my Cozy Knitter 24 stripe advent socks. Now I just need to catch up to the days! I purchased a coordinating mini skein from the dyer for the toes and heels and this is a lovely shade of creamy white. I could also do the cuffs in it, but I don’t like my socks that tall. These will get pretty tall after 24 stripes!

I now have two sets of advent socks on the go for this holiday season. My other pair is from KirbyWirby and is Friends themed, which feels extra special this year given current events.

Can I keep up, lol?
