I Have A Sock HO

My purse project is growing!

I have a sock HO! (That’s a half finished object.) I’m obsessed with these colors and therefore this is seeing a lot of knitting time. I turned the heel while Jellybean was playing with Papa and I finished the leg while watching Dr Strange with the husband. I Love multitasking!

Fits quite nicely if I do say myself! Happy Knitting!

WIP Wednesday: Bali Vanilla Socks

The fall colors are fading and the winter grey is setting in. And I’m ever so glad I have this bit of sunshine in my purse!

My Bali Vanilla Socks are off to a good start. Another inch and I can start the gusset heel! This blue is just so rich and yummy that it instantly makes me cheerful. They may not grow very fast but slow and steady wins the race!

Happy Knitting!!

Mutatis Mutanois Sock Update

Since I finished my Rainbow Brite Vanilla Socks the Mutatis Mutanois socks have been upgraded to purse knitting.

I’m working on the foot of sock one. The yarn is amazing and part of my 2016 Sock Yarn Experiment. The fabric I’m getting on the US1s isn’t as tight as usual but not so loose that it won’t fit. It will be interesting to see if these wear out faster. This is just a 68 st toe up vanilla sock with gusset heel.

Happy Knitting!

FO Friday: Rainbow Brite Vanilla Socks

Tah Dah….my tonsil recovery knitting project is done!

They are just so bright and happy! And they match *almost* perfectly. I used Knit Picks Felici in Rainbow on size 0 US needles. The pattern is just a 72 stitch vanilla toe up sock. I put in an afterthought heel in a contrasting color.

I thought the grey suited nicely. I used about 340 yards of rainbow and 20 some yards of the grey. And it was awesome pick up/set down stockinette knitting when I didn’t feel great.

I turned these in for points in both the Down Cellar Studio’s Pigskin Party KAL and the Carolina Fiber Girls’ Socktober KAL. I feel very accomplished given how crappy I felt!

Happy Knitting!!

WIP Wednesday: Rainbow Brite Socks

While I was doing my post-op recovery after my tonsils I focused on my Rainbow Brite Socks both because it’s #socktober and because they were soothing stockinette.

After the first couple of days rhe first sock looked like this…

Then I had a rough day and took a break. Around day +5 I made some progress again.

Sock one was done with the “tube” and I had a good jump on sock two. Then I had a REALLY bad couple of days around days +8/9. And I took another break.

Finally right before I went back to work I managed to start the heels…

They are done now and I’m hoping to get some photos taken for FO Friday this week.

Happy Knitting!

FO Friday: Spooky Vanilla Socks

I’m all prepared for Halloween! My  Spooky Vanilla Socks are done!

Pattern: Toe up vanilla sock with afterthought heel

Yarn: Berry Colorful Yarnings Saturated Sock in the color Spooky

Needles: US 1

My matchup matchy heart is so happy with these. I did use some yarn management to get these to match so it’s not by accident. I had to weave in a few extra ends but it was totally worth it. I also modified my afterthought heel a bit as well. After I picked up the stitches I worked 5-6 rounds of stockinette before starting the decreases. I feel like this made more fabric that covered my heel without over stretching. It’s a tad loose so next time I may only do 4 rounds. But I’m still super super happy! And I got to turn these in for the Pigskin Party KAL and #Socktober!

Happy Knitting!

Nurses Like Knitting

Hello from my recovery bed! I’m doing well so far and making sure to manage my hydration and pain levels. Fingers crossed I can continue to do well.

(Me before surgery)

I took my knitting with me to the surgery center. I knew it would keep me calm while I waited. I had no less than four nurses stop to admire my knitting while I was in pre-op!

They loved my colors and marveled that I could make my own socks. One nurse even tried to put in an order for gloves 😃

Time for a nap, I’ll check in later!

Rainbow Update

I made the long car ride to my parents house to be with my Dad as he won his 200th football game as a coach. The picture below pretty much captions my heart. Three generations of love…

But you guys really care about the yarny goodness! Being at my parents meant more knitting time for this mommy! My Rainbow Bright socks saw some good knitting time.

Feet up, watching football and knitting in my lap! I’m past the ripcord for the afterthought heel and zooming up the leg. I’m debating on using a neutral grey for the heel or to use rainbow stripes for the heels. Any thoughts from other knitterly minds out there?

Rainbows Make Me Happy

I have been keeping a pretty rainbow on my bedside table. The Rainbow Bright vanilla socks have been my zen bedtime knitting.

They only get a few rows here and there but I’ve managed to work through a complete set of stripes. And I’ve paired my rainbow sock bag with my rainbow socks. It makes my matchy matchy heart happy!

Happy Knitting!

WIP Wednesday: Spooky Vanilla Socks

My Spooky Vanilla socks are cruising along…

I’ve finished the first sock and got a jump on the second one! I’m really trying to get the stripes to match and it’s working so far. Only two small fails, the first being that I wound my second small cake backwards so I have to work from the outside of the ball. Secondly I’ve had to cut the green yarn in the toe to make the stripes match. It really only means I have a couple more ends to weave in.

I’m definitely going to have a ton of yarn left from this generous skein from Berry Colorful Yarning. Just more yarn for scrap projects I guess!

Happy Knitting!
