I Can Granny Stripe Chevron

I am finally up and running with my blanket do-over with my Chromatic Yarns DK stash. I had previously frogged this knitted blanket.

I did add an extra repeat to the pattern I got from Etsy. It is called the Sundance Throw Blanket by Mama in a Stitch. It’s a really basic granny stitch but with chevrons. This is a new skill for me and the first row took some concerted concentration.

I was able to chain and work the first two rows while having afternoon playdate on the patio. And I think I cracked it! It felt really nice to get ahold of a new skill! I am hoping for this to be a blitzy project for the Pigsking Party KAL 2024 and finally get this beautiful yarn into a finished project.

Happy Crocheting!!

How About Those Chiefs

I decided to bling out my Chiefs hats with some extra. I found some embroidery patches on Amazon to add to my hats. It took me a few tries to get my hand sewing skills warm, but I eventually got them sewed down with some coordinating thread.

I really love how the arrowheads look with the white against the bright colors. The heart is cool too but doesn’t pop as much. I still have one heart and two helmet patches to add to future hats. I just need to knit faster!

Can’t Quit Chiefs Hats

I just can’t quit with the Chiefs hats…..so I bought more themed yarn.

It has been quite hard to find appropriate colors in yarn shops. Understanding that stores can’t stock every color or large footprint yarns. But I think I managed! Above is some Malabrigo Worsted, a singles yarn, in Sauterne and Sealed Wax. I was able to find the “traditional” colors in the yarn base.

My options were more limited in the Rios base. I ended up with a variegated black called Pearl Ten and then a traditional red called Freza. This will be more of an abstract hat but I think it will still work! And I’m super excited to show you all some updates I made to some of my finished hats tomorrow!

The Softest Cast On

I was feeling nostalgic this weekend and pulled a hat kit out of my stash. This pattern and yarn combo was sent to me by two very dear friends I never get to see.

The pattern is the Bluestem Beanie by Rebekah Lil and the yarn is a kit from Amber Waves Dye Studio. You hold yarn double to get worsted but the components are the Alpaca Cloud DK held with Kid Silk Fluff. So basically DK weight in alpaca with a silk/mohair laceweight.

This is the SOFTEST combo I have ever felt! I am really excited about this as a change of pace from my other hats. There are not very many projects on Ravelry so I will see how this tests out!

Finished: Chiefs Scrappy Hat

I am so proud of this hat, I just couldn’t wait for tomorrow to share this Scrappy Chiefs Hat!

Pattern: A version of my basic beanie “recipe” with color blocking

Needles: US 8s

Yarn: TreasureGoddess Warmth Worsted in Gunpowder and Ghost Ship and Leading Men Fiber Arts in Poison Apple and Sweet Corn

This hat is amazing. I used so many scraps and ALL of the Leading Men chiefs colors. The finished hat used 154 yards of yarn putting it on par, size wise, as my other single color hats. After finishing this hat, I got a flash of an idea to purchase some Chiefs sew on patches.

As long as they come in true to internet description, I think each brim of my three Chiefs hats will get a logo stitched on? And then Jellybean, Papa and I all can have coordinating hats. Papa and Jellybean are headed to a game here in November so I think it would be extra special.

Happy Knitting!!

Scrappy Chiefs Decreases

This is DEFINITELY my favorite Chiefs Hat this year!

I didn’t count super close when I was making the brim. So the dark grey inside is like two rows longer than the red section. But it is such a happy accident as I LOVE the thin black line it creates as an edge.

It’s November and I am tired so I didn’t want to weave in ends or manage yarn. So I just knit until I was out of red, did a Russian join, knit until I ran out of yellow and then am finishing in grey. So I went with color blocks instead of stripes. I low key love it.

Multiple Blues (And Grey)

This morning was a full morning of gymnastics for PB. To give myself a break from the Chiefs Hats….I only packed my Musselburgh in Blues hat to the gym.

Between Trick or Treat knitting and Mom Cab knitting, I have made good progress! I very quickly realized that I needed some neutrals to tie all these blues together. So I grabbed some grey scraps to break up the blues. This one might end up more “Frankenstein” than the first but it will still be a warm hat, lo

Now on to a well earned Saturday afternoon nap! Happy Knitting!!

A Scrappy Chiefs Brim

I had a full day of online CPE on Zoom. Because this grown adult left most of her 30 hours of CPE to the end of the year. So I grabbed those Chiefs scraps from my bag and started working on a third Chiefs hat. I am also hydrating to get over the sugar coma that was Halloween!

I started with the TreasureGoddess yarns scraps of Gunpowder to create the inner facing brim and then moved to the Leading Men Fiber Arts Poison apple. And thus far, I am in love. I adore the depth that this dark charcoal is adding.

I feel another project hyper fixation coming. I hope my fingers can keep up!!

Happy Knitting!!
