Adding A Fifth Yarn

I was wrong in my last post for the In The Light Blues shawl. That was not in fact the last fade.

I broke up the pattern to use symmetrical number of rows of each color NOT weight. My Finance background should have told me that math wouldn’t math. So I quickly realized that my last skein was not going to be enough to either the lace or border.

So I went stash diving in my sock yarn and found a fifth and darker yet skein of yarn to finish this shawl. What I found was a Abstract Fiber Super Sock in Twilight. I wound it up and I’ve faded it in and it worked out perfectly to start the lace section.

Now I just need to finish this one off and I can use all the remaining bits for the In The Light Blues Take Two.

Happy Knitting!!

Trying Caracol

It’s been really tough work this year and I was tempted by the Yarn Barn window while I was on a lunchtime walk during my work day.

I perused the sale section, got a pair of needles to replace ones that broke and didn’t really find anything super exciting. So I went to the malabrigo section and fell in love with this super bulky Caracol. It has a black ply that wraps around a changing core yarn.

I can’t help but think this would knit up to look like stained glass. I think thinking a simple stockinette bulky cowl. I have 180 yards or 300 grams to work with. I can’t decide yet if I will just invent a pattern or find one to work from. And in the meantime this yarn served it’s purpose in lifting my mood!

Happy Stashing!!
