Prepping For Advent

Advent season is almost upon on us and it’s time to prep. After several years of trying different advents I have found that the 24 stripe sock skeins work best for me. I LOVE the mini skein advents but I struggle to use them and I have still have two full sets sitting in my stash.

This is KirbyWirby’s 2023 advent self striping sock. She chose a Friends theme this year and each stripe comes with a coordinating quote from a Friends character. I also opted to buy the coordinating mini for toes and heels.

I am working toe up vanilla socks with an afterthought heel. I got two heels knit up and on my 9 inch circulars. Now come December 1st, I am ready to work the first stripe. The dyer was super organized and marked where my skeins started in the sequence. I am starting on Day 11 instead of Day 1. No matter to me as I will still work all 24 stripes.

I wound up the yarn into two balls so I can work both socks. The smaller ball has two full repeats in it. The larger one must have an extra repeat? We will see when we get there!

P.S……I have two sock advents this year! Whoops 🙂

Good Friends Are Hard To Find

I have the best friends in the world. I haven’t had the most symptom free pregnancy thus far. And to be honest it is exhausting and frustrating. But I got the most amazing pick me up the other day. Check out the awesome care package I got from a dear friend from college:

I HIGHLY recommend this gift for any pregnant lady in your life. It’s sweet and yet practical and I would guarantee it to make their day!

Have you ever done anything cool for an expectant mom or couple? I’d love to hear about other neat ideas!

FO Friday: Bachelorette

This is a different sort of FO today! I am now officially done with my latest show, Bachelorette. We wrapped up our performances last weekend. It was an amazing and exhausting show. A very powerful piece about how some of my generation failed to grow up and the awful ways we sometimes treat the ones we love. It was even made into a movie in 2012, While the movie does incorporate almost everything in the play, it does it a much different order. And there is a happy ending. The play does NOT have a happy ending, lol.

This show stretched me in every way possible from the content, to singing out loud in front of people, and finally to playing a villain of sorts. I got to curse, drink, and scream on stage. I found it quite liberating!!

I was also blessed with an amazing cast! I have done a lot of shows in my life and this one was truly special. My cast mates were incredibly invested in the process, amazingly talented, showed up every day ready to work, and we just great all around people! No drama, no whining, and lots of encouragement and cooperation.

I want to share some of my favorite photos we took along the way!

And here are few just for laughs. We had to take “selfies” for promos and advertising for the show. I’m terrible at these and required some coaching, lol!

Adventures in the Flint Hills

Remember awhile back when I told you about my weekend hangover? Well this weekend I had the pleasure of spending Saturday with the folks of Prairie Fire Winery at their annual spring planting.

Right smack dab in the Flint Hills of Kansas on the slope of a hill, we planted over 500 vines. I wish I could remember what variety we planted but the names where in French and I’m a Spanish kind of girl, lol.

Thems a lot of holes! I even got to take Dex. He was a great dog and didn’t even try to make a run for it. He followed us up and down the hill and charmed everyone. After five hours he was one pooped puppy!!

I had a blast. I got my hands dirty, learned about vines, sampled some wine, and hung out with good friends. Bob and Julie are truly some of the best people I have had the pleasure of meeting. And boy are they passionate about their vino!! In the past two years their wine has really started to rack up awards as well. Check out this article in winespectator.com, they made the final four!

And you can’t beat the view either!!
