Conference Knitting

I pushed through and got my Radiate Hat to the point I am working on circulars. No more DPNs!!

It looks mostly like a coaster at this point than a hat, lol. I am working from the darkest purples and back to through the rainbow to the blues. Just the same as the order I used in my Rainbow Radiate sweater.

This is what my hat looks like before an 8 hour hitch at a conference. Let’s see what progress I can make!

Happy Knitting!!

FO: Volcan Hat

My Volcan Hat is done and dusted!

Pattern: My own basic beanie “recipe” with 88 sts

Needles: US 8s

Yarn: Malabrigo Rios in Volcan

This hat was a nice finish and everyone who saw loved the Autumnal colors of it. I used 75 grams or roughly 158 grams of yarn. Leaving a nice nub of leftovers to add to my scrap stash. The finished hat is a nice adult size with a slight slouch.

I think my next hat is going to be the CC Beanie but I need to find the time and energy this May-cember in between kid events and travel! Happy Knitting!!

Cast On: Radiate Hat

With the yoke of my Rainbow Radiate done and I’m happy with the fit, I decided to use the Hue Loco sample set to make a coordinating hat. I have cast on what I am calling it my Radiate Hat.

I am working on US 5s and using the general structure/pattern of a Musselburgh. I will have to get the increases started and look at my gauge to determine how many total stitches. Usually with DK yarn on these needles I need to be in the 120 ish range.

I always dislike the fiddly casting on bit in the round on these size needles. It never lasts long and I procrastinate occasionally. I am going to be deliberate and push past this as I need auto pilot knitting for upcoming travel.

Happy Knitting!!

Volcan Body

Professional development is turning out to be great for my knitting productivity. My Volcan Hat has a completed body!

I probably could have finished this hat during my all day training except for I didn’t bring my DPNs to work the decreases. One good evening of TV and actually locating my DPNs should get this hat all the way done!

A couple of coworkers have complimented this hat. So I am thinking about a potential recipient. It’s almost May here so hats are NOT necessary anymore. I think I have some time to decide 🙂

Happy Knitting!!

Wishful Knitting: Crown Town Hat

Next up in my wishlist of projects I want to start….more hats! This time a Royals baseball themed hat with some yarn I just ordered.

I really like how the designers worked in the crown into the colorwork. That is just genius. I do think I will omit the pom pom as they just aren’t my jam. I have already bought the pattern so I just need to print and then get my supplies ready for when the yarn gets here!

Happy Wishful Knitting!!

Wishful Knitting: CopyCat CC Beanie

I have been ignoring my queue for YEARS and for some reason I decided to knit something from it. Or else why have it? I decided to try the CopyCat CC Beanie.

I have a skein of grey Malabrigo Rios that should work nicely. I just need to print the instructions or get them into my phone and I think this will be one of my next hats. I realize that I am LONG past this trend but I think the finished object looks good and I the pattern looks easy.

Cast On: Volcan Hat

The next hat is on the needles after my Azules Hat finished. I am calling this the Volcan Hat.

Still a skein of Malabrigo Rios from my dopamine shopping trip in the color Volcan. For sure this is my next meeting/training knitting. In no shock to this space, this is my go-to 88 stitch basic beanie recipe on US 8s. My coworker really liked this yarn and called it “autumnal” and I think they are right. You really can’t go wrong with Malabrigo colors. And at this rate, I’m on track to knit them all!

Happy Knitting!!

Finished: Azules Hat

I have finished and tagged the Azules Hat!

Pattern: My own 88 stitch basic beanie “recipe”

Needles: US 8s

Yarn: Malabrigo Rios in colorway Azules

This project ended up using 74 grams or 155 yards of yarn. It’s a nice adult sized hat and will be perfect for the recipient I have in mind. This color of Malabrigo REALLY came out looking like blue jean fabric when it was knit up at my gauge, lol.

I really need to get my next hat on the needles! Happy Knitting!!

Azules Hat Decreases

I did 12 hours of strategic planning at work this week. And for that time I have a lot of things to absorb and the brim (plus a little) of my Azules Hat.

I opted for a folded stockinette brim as I was knitting at work and didn’t have my full set of tools. It’s also easy on the brain when I am trying to think and participate in group discussions. I am about 1 inch into the hat body so I need several more before I can start decreases.

I think this hat will end up being a gift for a coworker who has been kind to me AND got his but kicked in the meeting we were in. I think he has earned a knitterly gift….

Happy Knitting!!

Cast On: Azules Hat

I have some upcoming all day sessions so I needed some new auto pilot knitting. I grabbed some Malabrigo Rios in the color Azules from one of my dopamine trips to The Yarn Barn.

This is going to be my basic 88 stitch basic beanie because I need this to be super mindless. I got myself cast on and started in the round (without twisting) and into a project. I noticed that this color of Rios is SUPER close the color of my blue jeans, lol.

I have normalized knitting with my work folks so as long as it’s not distracting, I knit all the time now! Happy Knitting!!
