Finished Pony Tail Hat

The summer germs have been popping up in the house, but I still managed to finish my Other Ponytail Hat for my friend.

Pattern: My own made up pattern for a ponytail hat. I wrote some basic instructions on my Rav page located here.

Yarn: Treasure Goddess Warmth Worsted in Ghost Ship color

Needles: US 8s

In the end, I am happier with this hat as it feels more relaxed and substantial for warmth. I do plan on giving both hats to my friend for her to use and test. This second version used 82 grams of the 100 gram skein so not too shabby. I am ending up with a lot of worsted scraps so I might have some worsted Frankenstein hats coming….

Murder She Wrote And Decreases

The second pony tail hat has zoomed right along to decreases. And I have accidently discovered a new cozy murder mystery book obsession.

I am happier with this second version and the stockinette brim. I think it is a more substantial hat with a more “one size fits most” overall fit. I am going to copy the rapid decreases of the first hat ending with 2×2 ribbed ponytail opening. I think that stretchy opening will be multi hair style friendly.

As for my new book series, its only new to me. I have come to find out that the 80s TV show Murder Shew Wrote has an accompanying book series that is still making books today! This show is a favorite comfort show when I’m sick or overwhelmed. So my new book quest is to find and read as many of the 55+ of these books that I can find. The older ones are out of print but I’ll take what I can get.

Now It’s A Ponytail Hat

I cruised through the body of my GFOA Conference Hat and worked through the decreases. I was hanging out at my parents house when I got to the point where my circular needles were to big to continue. But I didn’t want to be done knitting! So my Aunt suggested I just finish it as is!

So I did a modified K2tog, K1 and repeat cast off to finish the pony tail hole. It doesn’t have a ton of stretch at the cast off but my pony tail fit threw the hole just fine. I still need to weave in the ends and give this thing a wash/block. Finished object photos coming soon!

Happy Knitting!!
