Blanket Update

I decided to show my memory blanket in its full glory after starting my new square this week. I’ve been plodding along on this thing since 2016…..

I sent a photo of this project to my friend who recently started knitting. I had shared some of my hand knit socks with here and she spotted the squares that match her socks! I’m doing my best to convert her to a knitter with a capita K! So far its going swimmingly…..

Happy Knitting!

Finished Cute Stuff

Another day of advent inspired wee things are done!

I really enjoy blues and golds together, its ingrained from my childhood, lol. This is day 6 of advent done and I am winding #7 later tonight. I still have a long way to go to 24 total but its better than no progress at all!

Meanwhile I am adding this color to my scarp blanket and really want to finish that square this week. Happy Knitting!!

Last Dregs of Winter

It’s still dipping into the 30s and 40 here in Kansas so I am taking advantage of all the blanket snuggles. I’m up to adding day 6 of my 2020 advent.

The fire is toasting my toes (and all the toys my children refuse to pick up). It’s interesting to have two blues next to each other but I am holding to the order of minis that the dyer intended.

Can I finish this square this week? Happy Knitting!!

Blue and Gold Plying

The PV Rambouillet singles are ready for plying. I managed to get the last two ounces of fiber on the bobbin fairly quickly. They look fairly even and I’m hoping for a pretty decent amount of a 2-ply.

This fiber is marling up beautifully. There are places where the colors line up and places where opposites are matching. This should make a wonderful variegated yarn in the end.

Happy Spinning!!

I Have A Color Theme…

My tiny projects had a tiny resurgence this week. I think this color number six of the 2020 advent calendar from Chromatic yarns.

I got a little giggle out when I noticed these are very much on color theme with my spinning this week. Everything is blue and gold this week, lol!

I just need to crank out the second tiny sock and I can move on day number 8! Happy Knitting!!

Alma Mater Spinning

Started some new spinning this weekend. This is 4 ounces of 100% Rambouillet in the colors of my high school. My dad picked this out as part of my Christmas present and he happened to teach at that school for 40 years so I’m not surprised he gravitated to this color.

I split the braid in half and then striped each half into skinny sections. The first 2 ounces is already on the bobbin and I have the other 2 balled up. This is not spinning as thin as the Targhee did but that’s okay. I’m content to just go with the flow on this spin!

Happy Spinning!!

Finished Targhee

My Aqua Targhee 2-ply is DONE and absolutely gorgeous!

I ended up with 114 gram skein that resulted in most 12-13 wraps per inch. So this is most definitely a sport weight yarn. I didn’t get an exact yardage as my counter had trouble latching on to this yarn. But I am going to guess around 185-200 yards?

This skein is going to join my Sweet Mulch Polworth skein as a retirement gift for my crafty coworker. I just need to find the perfect card to go with!

Happy Spinning!!

Plying Targhee

It’s been a couple of days and my Targhee singles are ready for plying!

My singles are getting smaller so this actually took a couple hours to ply. But I was really pleased with the process and the resulting yarn. Some spots are REALLY close to fingering weight but I suspect that overall this yarn will be a sport weight.

Next up, I need to dunk this skein into a bath and get it thwacked and dried. I should have about a 100 gram skein when all said and done. I’m interested to see if this plumps any.

Happy Spinning!!
