Slowly Patterning

My Fairy Tale Beanie has been at the bottom of my prioritization list but I have added a few more pattern repeats.

This is still very very soft with the cashmere content under the mohair. I did however fail to keep track of my repeats. I think I need 7 or 8 total? Now I will have to go back and count the bumps to try and count where I am at. Not ideal, but the natural consequences of my choices.

I am hoping to finish this by year end just to have that hit of dopamine going into the new year. Happy Knitting!!

Catching Up Socks

I love love love the Cozy Knitter advent socks. This is my 3rd year and she always does such a great job.

Typical mom life, I’m way behind but I adore the nights when I get to sit down and work on my stripes. This pic is around day 11. I am still trying to decide if there is a pattern of the colors? They do seem to have a repetition of color families?

Also, was I going to use the white contrast to do little blips in between colors, yes. Did I remember to do that, no. I will have a second repeat of these 24 color sequence and I can try that design feature for the second pair.

Happy Knitting (and remembering)!!

So Snaggy

Thanks to a trip to the theaters and Moana 2, my Cherub hat has a brim! Great movie by the way, I will totally watch again when it streams.

My yarn is some really deep/old stash of Cascade Cherub Aran leftover from a baby sweater 10 years ago. I had forgotten how splitty and fussy this yarn was. I have to mind the plies very carefully.

The yarn is incredibly soft and feels great on the skin as it is a nylon and acrylic blend. I could have done to go down a needle size to US 7s as the fabric is a little loose and see through when not doubled over. But there is no going back now! This will likely end up as a charity hat or gift hat. I like my wool and wool blend hats!

Happy Knitting!!

The Last Scrap

My second Frankenstein Hat has reached the point where it is falling off my needles. I cruised through two more brown scraps and nearly reached the total length.

I am just now attaching the final green color. I didn’t weigh my cast on like I should have to know how many grams I need for the cast off. So I am embarking on yarn chicken. Worst case, its worsted and I rip back and redo. Or it could work out great and I will have a finished hat!

Happy Knitting!!

Update: Frankenstein Hat #2

This Frankenstein Hat is addictive. It’s just so stinking satisfying to use up each scrap!

The orange is completely used up and I am three rows from finishing the copper. I think next up will be the variegated browns. I am still using a US 8 needle but I am working over 96 stitches to make a slightly larger hat.

The scraps are shrinking fast, I may need to pull a fifth scrap ball to make the full length of this hat….

Happy Knitting!!

Bonnie Mae Decreases

As predicted, the Bonnie Mae Hat took exactly 15 seconds to complete the stockinette hat portion.

I need to grab a tape measure but I should be close to decreases. Which is good, because my yarn ball is rapidly shrinking. It has been interesting to see what this hand dyed yarn does in ribbing versus stockinette. The light isn’t the greatest now that it gets dark at 5 pm, but I feel like the ribbing looks darker?

Now to dig out my DPNs and wrap this puppy up! Happy Knitting!!

A Bonnie May Turn

My Bonnie Mae hat been languishing in my bag since a casting on binge a couple of weeks ago. I don’t really know why as this is very heavy/thick worsted and the hat will take 13 seconds to knit.

So in between throwing a toy for Duke I cranked out the ribbing and completed the folded hem. I am working 72 stitches on US 10 needles to account for the rounder/thicker yarn. Now I am just zooming up the stockinette portion and binging Man On the Inside.

Happy Knitting!!

Fairy Fuzzy Brim

Car line knitting continues! This is the Fairy Tail Beanie that I started during my cast on fever. It’s going to be another Bluestem Beanie.

The DK pink color is some Potions Yarns in Dryad DK in the Fairy Tale color and the mohair is more Stranded Dyeworks Mohair Silk in Patisserie. The DK has cashmere in it and it really helps soften the feel of that mohair.

I just turned and reattached the folded brim. I had my kit with me and I was able to place a BOR marker this time. I forgot that last version of this hat and I messed up the patterning. I just need to dig out my US 8 needles and establish the patterning. It’s all popcorn knitting after that!

Happy Knitting!!

What I Can Do In A Day

If I put my phone down these days, I actually get knitting done! I had started this Chiefs Hat yesterday and my progress was thus

By lunch I had two skinny stripes added and kept cruising all after afternoon after some mild parenting and adulting.

By bedtime, I had the hat fully to the decreases. I didn’t trust my tired eyes and sore hands so I am leaving them for tomorrow. I just squeaked out this hat with using all the red and gold yarns. I have more of the dark grey left for a scrappy project. I get so much joy for perfectly using up the bits and bobs!

Happy Knitting and sweet dreams!!

Gotta Protect The Wrist

Turns out knitting all day for three days is a little hard on your RSI. And I know better. So here I am knitting slowly, using my brace, stretching and icing my sore spots.

My back up project to finished out my conference was a new hat I am calling my Rusty Merino hat. It’s a new to me dyer that I picked up at SSK this summer, Another Crafty Girl. It’s a Merino Worsted in the “Pas Old Tool Chest”. I am going with my tried and true worsted hat on US 8s and just vanilla stockinette all the way through. My wrist was not feeling any ribbing at this point.

Happy Knitting (and resting)!!
