Christmas For Toddlers

We have a very active and “helpful” 14 month old in the house. And tis the season for for holiday decorations! I thought Jellybean deserved his own toddler safe tree.

A little felt from Joanns and one nap time later….he had a tree!

It was a huge hit! Until he found the 3M strips holding it up and took it off the wall. Oh well, it was an hour of fun anyway!

Only 24 more days to Christmas!

Knitters In The Wild

I came down with a nasty sinus infection the Tuesday before turkey day. And knowing I would be stuck with a cranky baby who hates sleeping while traveling….I went to the express care clinic. After an hour I snagged some meds and care instructions, but I also found another knitter in the wild!

A lovely older women was smiling at me from across the waiting area so I smiled back. She called me out on my knitting and not only correctly identified it as knitting but that it was also a sock. Brilliant!

I didn’t get a chance to chat after that as I was called back to my appointment. I wonder if she had knitting in her purse?

The Things No one Warns You About

This has pretty much been my life for the last month…

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/f00/39837473/files/2014/12/img_1682.jpg

Lots of Kleenex, a baby with unpredictable sleep patterns, and slow progress on a pair of socks. Since Jellybean started daycare and I’ve been back to work I’ve managed to catch a sinus infection/ear infection combo, then the very unpleasant 24 hour flu that lasted 48 hours, and now finally a head cold that just lingers. No one warned me having a baby right before cold and flu season was a bad idea!

So we just take our days as they come: lots of snuggle time in steamy bathrooms, the dreaded snot sucker, and a boatload of Kleenex. The only upside is that I should have a finished pair of socks by Christmas and to wrap up my year of Socks With Sarah!

P.s.
Dear Santa, all I really want for Christmas is for our new little family to be healthy for just a little while? Please and thank you!

Last of the Holiday

I’m putting away Christmas in my house today and I just couldn’t resist one last holiday shot. My every thoughtful mother found this ornament for me! It’s so gorgeous I’m considering hanging it up all year round 🙂

Happy Saturday to all! I’m off the gym to remove the holidays from my waistline!

P.S. anyone want to help me get my shoes and socks on tomorrow as I’m sure the residual soreness shall prevent me from completing the task myself?

Holiday Hangover

This pretty much how I feel….

I’m all Christmas’d out. Don’t get me wrong I loved every minute of it. But I’m exhausted!!! I spent five wonderful days with my husband and fur babies at my parents. It was a delightful break from the “real world” but boy did we work hard.

In five days we completed the following:

  • Butchered out 1 1/2 deer
  • Made 10 lbs of deer jerky
  • Defrosted and scrubbed all five of Grandma’s refrigerators and deep freezers (and threw 3 trash bins of crap away)
  • Baked 20 loaves of rye bread
  • Cooked three family dinners
  • And celebrated two Christmases

I got almost no knitting done, which was NOT the plan with five days off of work. I did manage to read a few chapters in the Yarn Whisperer. I took my Abalone and Sophisticate with me in hopes of finishing both. Yeah right…

We got just the slightest hint of snow so I took advantage and had some lovely walks with the fur babies. It was a nice way to take a break from the full house of shenanigans and to walk off all the holiday goodies! The dogs also LOVED the snow! Just FYI, I came home with three abominable snow creatures, lol.

Now I take you back to your regularly scheduled knitting!

Merry Christmas to all! I’m off to my parents for an old fashioned Christmas of my childhood 🙂

Goodies In The Mail

My mom is not an internet shopper but she really wanted to purchase some knitting swag for me for Christmas. So we compromised….I agreed to act surprised at Christmas and she agreed to let me pick out my favorites.

The result?

A Chica Interchangeable Needles case in black and white….

I should be able to fit my Knit Picks Options interchangeables and my Denise plastic interchangeables all in one case 🙂

Next up, a new to me yarn: Knit Picks Reverie in Gemstone. This is an alpaca/acrylic blend that has great halo and softness. I’m thinking a great cowl or pair of gloves?

This color is just gorgeous and definitely in my wheel house. What’s a little more blue in my wardrobe right, lol?

And lastly, some cable connectors for my Knit Picks Options interchangeables. Just in case I go insane and decide to make a ginormous blanket again.

Now I just have to wait until Christmas to use and play with these delightful goodies. Merry Christmas to me!!!
