Not Quite Done

The hem of my Rainbow Radiate is finished and I popped it on for a test fit.

I LOVE how the body fits and I think I am done fiddling with the body. However, my second attempt at sleeves still isn’t right. The sleeves are too wide and bunched around my wrists. I need more decreases to take out the excess fabric and slim down the ribbing.

Time to rip them back again…..happy knitting!!

Taking Out A Few Rows

I had some dentist waiting room time with each kid. So I am really focusing on my Rainbow Radiate. I brough my smaller size needles and put in the sleeves to rip back and redo.

I went 7 rows back into the stockinette and I’m going to start the ribbing here. I also think I will sneak in a couple extra decreases to cinch the cuffs in. The yarn ripped back very nicely considering it was a tweedy yarn. I am bit worried that I didn’t go back far enough. I will see after the final try on….

I should have a finished sweater soon!

Hats And Sunburns

Summer time also means major pool time for my kiddos. I took the liberty to put my pasty skin in the sun with some 70 SPF and knit on a chaise lounge.

This Dream State Musselburgh is my project I grab for auto pilot knitting when I don’t want to think or not sure what I want to work on. I think I added two stripes in this pool visit? My kids did occasionally press me into service to go down the family slide or watch them perform cool tricks.

I unfortunately protected my legs so hard that I ended up burning my shoulders and chest. Lessons were learned! Happy Summer!!

Summer Knitting

It’s summer here and in full swing with activities. That means late nights, cold beverages and easy dinners. Last night the kids requested grilled cheese and tomato soup.

That meant I could multitask! I popped on a podcast and knit while I made sure to not to burn the sandwiches. This is my Dream State Mussleburgh hat and I’m plodding along. This hat doesn’t have a “place” as it doesn’t live in my work bag or purse. It kinda bobs along to miscellaneous activities.

Happy Knitting!!

Spa Knitting

I decided to do some self care this week with a long over soak and massage. I risked it and took my Siren Beanie out to the soaking tub.

I didn’t knit the whole time but I did add 10 or so rows. I had to keep drying my hands and my yarn was a teeny bit humid/damp. But It was relaxing nonetheless. Sometimes self care means combining some of my favorite things. What is your favorite combo?

Happy Knitting!!

Sweater At The Pool

I took my Rainbow Radiate on the road. The kids have swim lessons this week and I am using this down time to try and power through this sweater.

I am still round and round through the body. I did add a single increase on each side seam when I thought it needed it. I think I will add another 2 in a couple of inches and maybe one last set of 4 when I start the ribbing to account for my belly and hips. I’ll see how I am doing at yarn chicken.

Happy Knitting!!

Rainbow Radiate Body Building

I feel like I never make progress until I step back and look at my Rainbow Radiate.

I stopped and measured here as I am halfway through both skeins I am alternating for the body. I am blending two different bases from two different dyers that have the same color (ish). I am very very very very pleased to say that you can’t tell one bit. It’s creating its own unique fabric but I am getting very little striping.

I still have a long way to go to finish the skeins I have going now. And then I have one full skein and some partial skeins left to finish out the bottom. At this point it is going to be as long as its going to be. I’m just going to knit until I run out.

Happy Knitting!!

Cast On: Dream State Musselburgh

I decided to work another hat. I had some Knitterly Things Vesper Superwash DK in the Dream State colorway. I got this yarn last year at SSK and It’s been at the top of my list for awhile. This is a self striping yarn so I am working another Mussleburgh.

Based on my gauge shown here I need 120 stitches to make an adult large hat. I really can’t wait to get going in the round and off these DPNs. They are lovely but I keep getting distracted and stabbing myself. Metal DPNs are a bit prickly compared to the wooden ones I use on other hats, lol.

Happy Knitting!!

Rainbow Radiate Body

The sleeve slog is over! My Rainbow Radiate has two complete sleeves!!

As predicted, sleeve #2 took almost another full skein of yarn. I have measured precisely and by eyeballing I think they match. But I can’t promise they are exactly the same as I did a lot of counting in a dim room while watching movies.

Now on to the body…..I have 1.5 skeins of the Tweedy DK from Wichita Woolery and 2 skeins of the 316 Dye Studio House DK to finish this project. I have previously made this size and used 4.4 skeins of the main color and for this project I had 5. Fingers crossed!!

Happy Knitting!!

Cast On: Siren Beanie

The family went out to the ballgame. The Royals are just down the road from us and we took in a Sunday game. We had a lovely brunch before the afternoon game and couldn’t have asked for better weather. The only problem was that I didn’t have any game approved knitting.

I grabbed some Treasure Goddess DK Treasures in the Song of the Sirens Color that was already wound up. I opted for wooden needles to get past security. I made sure to count and cast on during the car ride over.

By the 7th inning stretch I managed to make over an inch of a hat! I think I am going to do a basic stockinette beanie with a folded brim. Just nice pure autopilot knitting.

Happy Baseball season!
