It’s Thanksgiving Eve and I am starting a new hat! This is one of the skeins of Woof Worsted I purchased from Lilliput Yarn.
I’m really feeling another basis beanie recipe. I stared with 2×2 rib over 96 stiches on a US 8 needles. This color is called Sasha and I thought it looked glorious against the orange of my fireplace.
This will be my holiday knitting as we run from event to event. Let’s see what I can get done! Happy Knitting!!
We are screaming into Thanksgiving week and I have one tiny hat to finish before month end when my coworker is moving. So its GAME ON.
I have 20 grams each of the chocolate and teal left from the adult hats. I also have a tiny ball left from a previous hat. I cast on 64 stitches for a toddler sized hat and I plan on working a color blocked hat.
This really should only take a couple of hours but it’s a CRAZY week getting ready for the holiday. Let’s see what I can accomplish! Happy Knitting!!
What a difference 8 hours of sitting and listening can make! My second coworker hat is ready for decreases!
I am super ready to NOT be sitting in ballroom straight backed chairs and drinking really bad coffee. The muggles around me were really impressed with my multi-tasking skills and I think I just might make my deadline!
I do think I will STILL have yarn leftover even with a larger brim and more stitches. Perhaps I could use these leftovers and the chocolate leftovers to make a wee toddler hat for my coworker’s kiddo? Shall I dare?
I’m running out of time before my coworker leaves us! So I grabbed a second set of needles from my interchangeable case and started the second hat I need. (I use the Addi Shorties set in the larger sizes)
For this one I am shooting for a larger size based on my newly evolved gauge so I went up to 96 stitches. I like working my hats in multiples of 8 so that I can accommodate 2×2 ribbing and have the kind of crown decreases I like.
Must knit faster!!!
Zoom definitely has its pros and cons, but it can be great for knitters. I had a few hours of training where I needed to focus and pay attention, so my Coworker Hat made a lot of progress!
I am super close to the crown decreases based on the height I prefer for hats. And I definitely have a ton of yarn left. I could have made the ribbing taller but it is what it is. I also recently added a Ted Lasso sticker to my work phone and wanted to share for no good reason at all.

Jellybean really wanted someone to play outside with him last night. Or more specifically watch him play outside. So I poured a lovely glass of wine and headed out to wind down the busy weekend. Jellybean added to his stick collection and I picked up my coworker hat.
The golden hour did not disappoint! My bag, my knitting and my wine were all on theme. I only added a few rows to the hat before we had to go inside for homework and shower. But it was the peace both Jellybean and I needed before getting ready to face the week ahead!

Gosh I loved worsted yarn, it practically knits itself! I blasted through the 2×2 rib and got the brim folded up and moved to stockinette in the round. This hat is for my coworker who is leaving soon.
I couldn’t resist the cuteness that was dueling labs. I have my yellow lab snuggle buddy right next to my chocolate lab hat. The universe made this moment feel right!

My Coworker Hat is complete! I couldn’t love this chocolate dream any more. The subtle color variegation really looks like a lovely marbled chocolate.

Needles: US 8s
I ended up using 80% of the 100 gram skein of yarn. That is roughly 176 yard of yarn for this medium sized hat. I was really tryin to use the full skein and probably could have made the brim bigger. Oh well! It is still beautiful.
I still have a little time before they leave so I may try to make hats for the whole family! Wish me luck 🙂
My Basic Dude Beanie is FINISHED and oh so pretty in the setting sun.
Pattern: My own “recipe” for a beanie with 96 stitches
Yarn: Ella Rae Classic Wool in brown/tan
Needles: US 8s
Mods: For this version I used a folded stockinette brim
I still need to give this hat a bath to even out some of the stitches. But I didn’t want to miss the golden hour vibes for photos. I worked star like crown decreases in a “traditional” fashion. The finished hat used 87 grams or 174 yards of yarn for the whole hat. Once again I missed the mark a tad on using the whole skein.
All in all, this was a great knit and felt great to get an orphan single skein out of my stash. This hat will 100% be a gift and I need to work on the washing and finishing touches. And then find the right occasion to gift.

Needles: US 8s
Mods: For this version I used a ribbed folded brim for extra warmth.
This project is 90 grams of a 100 gram skein of yarn. So I missed the mark on using up all the yarn. But not by much! I added this tiny ball of yarn to my leftovers bag. It fits really well on my head but it was a little tight on the husband’s head.
This hat matches my Punch Bug Vanilla Socks so they will either stay with me or go as a matching set. This finish really has helped reinforce my craft mojo. I have turned all my focus on to the Basic Dude Beanie.
