I Maimed Myself

I may have gotten into a “marital discussion” with the hubby that led me to aggressively cleaning the garage yesterday. Whelp, I managed to smash the knuckle of my middle finger between two heavy objects.

Fairly certain it is sprained or deeply bruised. It has made it painful to knit as that finger needs to bend in order to hold my needles in my fashion. I should know not to do things in the heat of frustration. So now I’m off to ice and rest my hand!

Happy (Not) Knitting!!

Wipe Out

Well I started my Autumn League Pullover last week and boy am I glad I did! While innocently walking through my dining room I stubbed my last two toes on my foot on a dining room chair. I went down HARD. It literally took my breath away. I’m not sure if I broke the pinky toe or just jammed it all to high heaven. But holy cow it hurts! All I can manage these past couple of days is stockinette in the round.

So I’m sitting with foot up and knitting on my pullover per doctor’s orders. The hubby is going to get to wrangle the kids for a few days with this one. It was an epic wipe out! The swelling has set in already and I’m sure I’ll end up with a WICKED bruise too.

Thanks heavens for knitting, ice packs and ibuprofen! Happy knitting!!

A Very Expensive Lesson in Cooking

IMG_0331.JPG

Last Christmas my mom purchased a mandolin for my kitchen. It works great and really speeds up the chopping process…when used correctly. Some veggies are harder to slice than others I have found.

I chose to use it without all of the proper safety guards….and paid the price. While slicing green peppers I took off the tip of my right index finger. Nothing life altering but it bled something awful and I will spare you the details. The hubby had to take me to the walk in emergency clinic to get the wound closed with silver nitrate. Again I will spare you the painful gory details. All in all they took very good care of me and packed me on my way with meds and care instructions. Now I just await what I imagine will be a frightfully high doctors bill…expensive lesson indeed!

It hurts like a buggar when I accidentally hit it on something but is healing nicely. Upside…I literally finished Jellybean’s hexi-ghan the night before. AND I can still knit, albeit in a slightly modified and slower manner.

Live and learn I guess? But at least I will have a FO to show this week!

Happy Knitting!!
