Blanket Obsession Update

The Memory Blanket is still growing!

I’m not sure why I have such a drive to work on this. I know in my knitterly brain that this is a long haul project and it will likely take months or years to finish to a decent size. But the square are just so satisfying!

Enough of this blather as I’m sure you are tired of it. Just enjoy the picture of the pretty precious!

A Nice Surprise

I listen to a lot of podcasts and read a lot of blogs. And therefore I enter giveaways from time to time. I never really think I’m going to win but sometimes I get s nice surprise.

Awhile back the 2knitlitchicks had a giveaway sponsored by Dragonfly Fibers to celebrate their Masterpiece Knits collection. And I won! A copy of the collection and skein of Damsel in the Earth and Green color.

The patterns are clever and beautiful. The patterns definitely contain skills that will stretch my abilities. But I think I’m up for the challenge! And the yarn….

It’s so rich and lovely. I just want to pet it for days! Just goes to show that you never know what surprises await if you just give it a try!

Memory Blanket Update

The Blanket” is growing again!

I’m at 31 and a 1/2 squares. I’m officially breaking in to some full skeins to add more to this blanket. It’s just so dang soothing and gratifying to work on I can’t stop!

I still don’t love picking up the stitches but sharp tipped needles help quite a bit. And I’ve fallen behind on my weaving in of ends (I’ve hidden them cleverly under the blanket). Perhaps I’ll catch that up during lunch today?

Mini Fever

I may be late to the party but I’m in love with my sock yarn memory blanket. My furvor has abated a bit with the crazy summer schedule we have but I’m still working on it.

I may have tripped and fell into Etsy the other day when I saw a steal of a deal on some mini skeins from a shop right here in my city,  AndeainBlue

My personal taste in sock yarn runs in the same color families so I needed some colors to shake things up! I got these five skeins of  “random” yarn and another five skeins of Shibui yarn sock minis (not pictured).

I’ve already managed to work two into my blanket. Even know I feel the sirens call of my blanket. Maybe I can squeeze in half a square before work?

Continued Growth

My memory blanket is growing. Here is my progress since last week…

I’m on the 19th square with no signs of slowing. I still have several scraps but my pile is shrinking. I may dip into my yarn stash to make a few mini skeins even before I knit the socks. I never use all the yarn anyway so that’s not crazy at all right? I just want to ride this wave of motivation before I lose it.

I really haven’t touched anything else so my blog posts may be fewer and far between until this blanket fever passes. I should be making an effort to keep up with my birthday and Christmas prep. But should and will are two distinct concepts 😊

Mothers Day Cast On

The Prairie Girls of the Prairie Girls Knit and Spin podcast have a Mother’s Day tradition I decided to adopt!

The deal is you cast on a just for your project on Mother’s Day and take pic of your kiddo holding the yarn or project. Then you get some unadulterated knitting time to work on it! I’ve already informed my husband this is what I want.

I pulled my 600 yard skein of Cashmere Super Toes sock in the Pieces of Eight color way that I got at Knitting In The Heartland this year. And I found a perfect pattern, Old Man of Storr shawlette by Carie Harling. It’s triangle shawl in mostly garter stitch that should help me maximize this mega-skein!

KITHKC: Yarny Goodness

Yesterday I tantalized you with hidden Yarny treasures from my Knitting In The Heartland trip. Well here now are the goodies!

Nerd Girls Yarn – Bounce and Stomp in the Mutatis color way. This is a fingering 4-ply that’s 80/20 SW and nylon. It reminded me of my school colors and it had to come home with me!
Show Me Yarns Bootheel in Party Cake Peeps color way. This is a light fingering 3-ply and the speckles were just too hard to resist!

This was my ultimate purchase! It is a 600 yard skein of fingering weight MCN from Treasure Goddess in Pieces of Eight color way. This took most of my budget but was TOTALLY worth it. I’m envisioning a beautiful shawl or scarf!

This is Nymph Sock from Supernatural Yarns in the Hermoine Granger color way. I’m not a super HP fan but the color was too much to pass up!

Finally I picked up some bling fromThe Sexy Knitter. I got some new stitch markets and a pair of tiny snips for my mom and her embroidery.

I’ve now exhausted my yarn find so I need to be good for while to rebuild my reserve. I should have plenty of pretties to knit on though!

A Wonderful Surprise

Hello, my name is Rachelle and I’m a podcast junkie. One my favorites is the KnitCircus podcast with Jaala and Amy. They are hilarious, knowledgable, and just all around nice people. They recently  held a giveaway and I thought what the hey I’m going to enter. And I won! This pretty showed up in my mailbox.

It is Sakkie from Plymouth Yarn company. It’s a 40% merino, 40% mohair, and 20% nylon blend. It’s BABY BUTT soft! It’s the most glorious blend of muted pinks and peaches with a bit of purple brown. My photos do not do it justice but when you live with grabby toddler hands, well you just make do.
For now I don’t have plans for this yarn. I’m just going to tuck this baby safely in my stash and then bring it out to pet it once in awhile. Did I mention it was soft?
