Finished: Luminous Hat

The Luminous Hat is off the needles just in time for 60 degree weather, lol.

Pattern: My own 88 stitch basic beanie “recipe”

Needles: US 8 (squares)

Yarn: Another Craft Girl Merino Worsted in Luminous colorway

This hat used 71 grams or about 153 yards of yarn. This means it turned out a tid bit smaller than my normal. I think I started the decreases too early. It still fits a reasonable sized adult head. I can turn this in for SSK points.

And I have new yarn wound for my next hat project for more marathon upcoming meetings! Happy Knitting!!

Flatland Knitting

My Luminous Hat saw some work in our recent travels. This time in the flatlands of western Kansas. Spring has sprung and the winds are whipping out here!

This skein from Another Crafty Girl is flashing and pooling between the teals and blues. And I am not minding the square needles either. They feel a little different but keep the stiches nicely. I think I am three-ish inches into the hat. Another three inches and I can turn the brim (if my patience lasts that long).

Happy Knitting!!

Cast On: Luminous Hat

We are gearing up for travel, spring sports and lots of time in the backyard. I also need to start earning points for SSK 2025. This all added up to a new cast on!

I grabbed my new square needles and a skein of Another Crafty Girl Merino Worsted in Luminous color to start my basic beanie recipe. It’s 88 stitches on a US 8. If I can get this done then I can earn points for my knitting retreat this summer.

I am liking the square needles. I don’t know that my hands get any less tired but they do feel nice in my fingers. This project is going to live in my purse/backpack for “in between knitting” needs.

Happy Knitting!!

Finished: Rusty Merino Hat

I worked on some CPE this week at work. Gotta get those hours in before year end! I had four hour block where I could watch and knit. So I decided to work on my Rusty Merino Hat and I finished it!

Pattern: My own basic stockinette worsted beanie recipe

Yarn: Another Crafty Girl Merino Worsted in Pas Old Tool Chest colorway

Needles: US 8s

I was intentional with this and really tried to use as much yarn as possible on this one. I ended up using 80 grams or 172 yards of yarn. That left just a teeny ball for my scraps bin. I have a coworker that did some really awesome and really hard work this month and I think this hat will be a surprise present for him. He is the kindest human who never seems to be mad even when people are mean to him. He deserves a hat!

I am really clearing the needles so I need to work on casting on more things! Happy Knitting!!

Gotta Protect The Wrist

Turns out knitting all day for three days is a little hard on your RSI. And I know better. So here I am knitting slowly, using my brace, stretching and icing my sore spots.

My back up project to finished out my conference was a new hat I am calling my Rusty Merino hat. It’s a new to me dyer that I picked up at SSK this summer, Another Crafty Girl. It’s a Merino Worsted in the “Pas Old Tool Chest”. I am going with my tried and true worsted hat on US 8s and just vanilla stockinette all the way through. My wrist was not feeling any ribbing at this point.

Happy Knitting (and resting)!!
