Dream State On A Plane

My Dream State and I headed out on jet plane! I have work trip that involves a lot of sitting in conference rooms and traveling on planes and busses. This should mean good things for the three hats I packed!

I made several inches of progress on my direct flight to DC. I managed an aisle seat so I had plenty of elbow room. I even made good progress listening to my latest audiobook. I am hooked on the Jessica Fletcher Murder She Wrote audio books from my library. Are they complicated? No but they are just the comfort listen that I need here lately.

Well, That’s Backwards

Guess what this knitter forgot? You gotta work color work charts left to right and not the other way round.

My Crown Town Hat inner brim is done but the letters are backwards. Sigh. So the letters are right side up in the wrong order. Rooking mistake! So, am I going to rip this out? No…I plan to keep going and test how my long floats fit in the finished hat. I will try this hat again to get it correct. And by then I will know if I left enough slack to make a nicely fitting hat.

This hat will be a keeper or go to someone who likes a little unintentional design feature. And now I know how to not mess the other colorwork in the rest of the hat. Let’s see how that works out for me….

Summer Knitting

It’s summer here and in full swing with activities. That means late nights, cold beverages and easy dinners. Last night the kids requested grilled cheese and tomato soup.

That meant I could multitask! I popped on a podcast and knit while I made sure to not to burn the sandwiches. This is my Dream State Mussleburgh hat and I’m plodding along. This hat doesn’t have a “place” as it doesn’t live in my work bag or purse. It kinda bobs along to miscellaneous activities.

Spa Knitting

I decided to do some self care this week with a long over soak and massage. I risked it and took my Siren Beanie out to the soaking tub.

I didn’t knit the whole time but I did add 10 or so rows. I had to keep drying my hands and my yarn was a teeny bit humid/damp. But It was relaxing nonetheless. Sometimes self care means combining some of my favorite things. What is your favorite combo?

Dream In The Round

I stayed up too late tonight, but the Dream State Beanie is fully in the round now.

The lighting at night is atrocious and it’s not doing the yarn justice. But these stripes are very deep and saturated. Not as wide as I had predicted looking at the original skein. Still okay though as it will make a wonderful hat.

I may have to pull scraps to finish the inside but I’ll see how my gauge plays out in the full hat. This one will be more of an adult medium with this yarn…or at least that is what its shaping up to be. I had been shooting for a large but I’m letting the yarn drive.

Siren Brim

I have been packing my Siren Beanie in my purse for my “on the go knitting” and it has paid off. I managed to knit and fold over the brim for this hat.

I am really loving the subtle tone shifts in this hand dyed yarn. It makes the fabric look luxurious to me. I am set up to work in the round for the main body of the hat. Therefore perfect for this week’s on the go with work, swim lessons and a lot of road miles.

FO: Copycat CC Beanie

My Copycat CC Beanie is complete!

Pattern: Copy.Cat C.C Beanie by Emily Ingrid (Rav Link)

Yarn: Malabrigo Rios in Gris

Needles: US 8s

This finished project used 70 grams of yarn or 147 yards of yarn. Which is amazing because with this scrunched up project looks to teeny. And that makes this project the same size of my “recipe” hats. This pattern was fun enough and I could see myself making more of these but it is quite a lot of purling.

On to the weekend, happy knitting!!

Cast On: Dream State Musselburgh

I decided to work another hat. I had some Knitterly Things Vesper Superwash DK in the Dream State colorway. I got this yarn last year at SSK and It’s been at the top of my list for awhile. This is a self striping yarn so I am working another Mussleburgh.

Based on my gauge shown here I need 120 stitches to make an adult large hat. I really can’t wait to get going in the round and off these DPNs. They are lovely but I keep getting distracted and stabbing myself. Metal DPNs are a bit prickly compared to the wooden ones I use on other hats, lol.

Closing Out The Rainbow

I ran out of gas yesterday and didn’t feel like posting my hat. On the plus side, the all day meeting generated three new stripes on my Radiate Hat!

It is going to be patently clear that I will need another scrap yarn to finish this out. I am in the blues and have two more blues left after this. And that won’t be enough to get to the length I need for a Musselburgh like hat. I need to search my Ravelry stash to see what I have. Would prefer that instead of buying new yarn.

Knitting In The Dark

Day two this week of marathon meetings. It’s after 9 pm and I am just going home. But on the plus side, I have added 2.5 color stripes to my Radiate Hat.

My hands honestly started to hurt after a 4 hour meeting. But I am really happy with how the rainbow is developing. Just like the sweater I questioned my choices until I got enough colors added to see the vision.

I unfortunately have another FULL DAY meeting tomorrow. Let’s see how much progress I can make there 🙂
