2025 Advent Sock Progress

I’ve been beavering away on my 2025 Cozy Knitter Advent Socks. This photo is round about day 13.

I am loving the flecks again this year. I kinda wish I had done them mid stripe like the Cozy Knitter did on her instead of at the color transition. Perhaps something I can do in the next pair. I will have a second set of 24 stripes after these socks are finished.

I am a little worried about the heels. I am pretty sure the accent flecks are going to burn a ton of yarn and I won’t have enough to do the heels. I have some grey sock yarn in stash that would work but I can’t lay hands on the white Cascade sock yarn that should be somewhere….

Raglan On The Road

As I had hoped, the short rows didn’t mess me up too much on my Cozy Classic Raglan. I am now fully working in the round on a long circular.

I am at the point where it’s just raglan increases for several inches. Doesn’t take a lot of brain space but I do need to count occasionally. The increases in this pattern are new to me but I think they will work out just fine. It should be interesting to see how this one comes out compared to KFB that I have done a ton.

A Candy Apple Hem

It’s finally done with endless stockinette! My Round Yoke Pullover is at the hem!

That does mean I have a very large amount of stitches on the needle that I will have to do many rows of 1×1 rib…..not super sure why I am celebrating! I have a few meetings today and then plans tonight. Can I power through ribbing?

Short Rows Can Be Tricky

With Round Yoke Sweater getting so close I game myself permission to start the Cozy Classic Raglan.

I knit the neck ribbing and then worked all the short rows. I latter finishing and counting the stitches in each section…..I realize I didn’t short row correctly. I mixed up my stitch markers. It’s not super evident unless you count.

I think on the next row I am just going to true up the stitch counts with some increases/decreases hidden along the raglan seam. The overall effect is still a raised back neck. But who knows, I may regret this later!

A Candy Apple Body

Coming out of our Thanksgiving food coma and my Round Yoke Pullover saw some decent action over break.

I need to get to 14 inches of body before the hem. And we are supposed to be getting some serious winter weather and our first blast of the year. I am hoping to parlay that into finishing this body yet this week.

It’s nice just to be cozy and go round and round with basic stockinette. I did slip this on by putting in an extra needle and the fit is on good track. Definitely needs a block to make the sleep longer and the body wider.

Cast On: 2025 Cozy Knitter Advent Socks

It’s December 1st and that means it’s time to cast on advent socks!

True to my habits, I grabbed the Cozy Knitter 24 stripe advent for 2025. I prepped both toes with the contrast skein and I’m ready to start the first stripe later today. I do plan to use the contrast yarn to add flecks in between color changes.

This may mean I won’t be able to do the heels in the contrast. And that is a future Rachelle problem 😝

Second Sleeve Slog

I made the decision on my Round Yoke Pullover to go ahead and work on sleeve #2 before going back to the body.

This particular set of sleeves is feeling like a slog. Is it me? Is it the shorter and darker days? It is just normal knitting mojo? I can’t tell but I am going to keep knitting through it and hope that two finished sleeves make me want to power through the very long stockinette body.

Knitting To Stay Warm

I am in meetings this week in large rooms and I am FROZEN. I firmly believe the facility I am in is running the AC. It’s wild. So I am knitting faster so I can be warm!

I shouldn’t be surprised that this Aran weight yarn is working up faster than worsted does. And this hat is also ready for decreases. The downside is that I don’t have (or can’t find) any DPNs in 10.5 US. I have 8s and 9s….

I think I will end up using the smaller needles in the interest of being done with this hat. I either lean into trying to actively make my gauge looser or just go with the crown will have a tighter fabric. Either way, I really don’t think it will make a jarring difference on the hat. And my brain is ready to move on to the next WIP 🙂

This Is Going To Be Rustic

This Bonfire Hat is going to be RUSTIC. This yarn has tooth to it, especially knit up.

I managed to get the brim knit and folded up. It was not the easiest to do with this incredibly blunt needles and this thick yarn, but I managed. I can now cruise on the hat body and see what I can get done.

I have some travel coming up and I think I will take my Round Yoke Pullover and several hat options to work on.

Tweed Sleeve

Plugging away on my Round Yoke Pullover and I have finished sleeve #1.

I did modify the pattern a wee bit to account for my upper arm size. I knit longer in plain stockinette than it called for until I had enough fabric to match where my arm tapers. I then followed all the pattern decreases and still stopped at the total required lenght.

I remembered to put in locking stitch markers to help me count and make the second sleeve match. I have the needles ready and just need some good light to pick up the second sleeve.
