Dogs Are The Best
While I was at the hospital with my mom my family was home with my mom’s two dogs. The Shih Tzu named Bubba was OBSESSED with being in Jellybean’s room. He is accustomed to sleeping on the floor of my parents room and I think he was missing his humans.
I came home from the hospital to find this….Jellybean fast asleep and Bubba keeping watch.
Dogs really are the best.
P.S. Today Jellybean is officially five and I just don’t understand how that is possible. Wasn’t he just a toddler like yesterday?

No knitting content today, just popped in to wish everyone in the US a happy labor day weekend and safe travels if you are on the road! I’m off to enjoy a work free day with my tiny humans…

Jellybean Bought Me Flowers
I had a spot of professional frustration and disappointment this past week. While doing my best to work through it without drowning myself in mint chip, I guess my family noticed. I was grocery shopping with Jellybean this past weekend and he saw a sale bin of flowers.
I could see him eyeing the flowers up and down. After a bit he looked up at me said “Mommy, can I get you these flowers? Because I love you so much and they will make you feel better.” It took all my strength not to cry my eyes out standing in the Dillons checkout lane. So I let him pick his favorite color and added them to my cart. No matter that I paid for my own flowers, I just picked up my big hearted four year old and hugged him as tight as he would let me.
I wish you all a good week and that someone loves you as much as Jellybean loves me!
Fun At The Fair
I took a break from regular life and took my kiddos my parents for the weekend. It also happened to be the 100th anniversary of my home county fair. We made sure to hit the animal barns….mom’s favorite! I tried to swing by the art and craft exhibits but they weren’t open the morning we were there, sigh.
We petted a hairy sheep. (This one didn’t have wool but had hair. It was a weird feeling but the sheep was very friendly!).
Then we found a mommy and baby goat where Jellybean wanted to crawl in the pen!
Even PB wanted in on the action (with the protection of Papa nearby for safety).
Baby animals just make me melt! We of course also had ice cream, saw a lot of old friends and took some time to play on the nearby playground. 
Most of the animals at this fair are 4H projects and raised for meat. I know that doesn’t always align with everyone’s ideologies but it was just a fact of life where I grew up in a highly agricultural community. Most of the sheep had already been sheered and readied for market.
All in all it was a great day. Papa even took Jellybean back to the fair in the evening to ride the carnival rides. They both came back sweaty and exhausted.
Project Of A Different Kind
For about a year and a half now, my kitchen floor has needed some serious TLC. The tile was beautiful but multiple attempts at re-laying and re-grouting just didn’t’ work. The backing board was too water damaged and tile and grout were constantly coming loose. I just felt my kitchen and office were GROSS all the time.
Last fall, via my cousin’s lumberyard, we purchased some tile-ish looking waterproof laminate to replace the floor. And this summer finally came a time where I had the vacation time and my dad was available to help me. We ripped the tile, pulled backing board and million staples, scraped glue and mastic until we had blisters and then snapped together the new floor. All in all it took two and a half solid days of work. But oh my, I couldn’t be more pleased!
I am already in love with cooking on the new floor and being able to sweep and mop knowing I’m actually getting stuff clean. And I hope and pray that is the last time I have to deal with this silly floor!
Now back to knitting tomorrow!
Happy 4th of July!
No knitting content today, sorry guys. Between the American holiday today where I will consume way to many s’mores and watch a lot of fireworks to celebrate those that gave so much so that I and my family could have democratic freedom and the fact that my dad and I have been demolishing and relaying the kitchen/office floor for two days straight…I’m tapped out.
I need like a whole tube of bio-freeze, a nap and a beer in that order. Happy 4th of July!

Socks On Vacation
I lost my every loving mind and decided it was a good idea to load up my small children, husband and mother and take a weekend vacation. Jellybean had one wish….to sleep in a hotel. So we planned a simple weekend where my mom could attend a quilt show and the rest of us could play at Science City in Union Station in Kansas City and then we would all have a nice stay in a hotel.
Y’all, it was chaos and no one got any sleep in an unfamiliar place. But all reports say that everyone had a good time. PB up and finally decided to fully commit to walking! We had two adjoining rooms with the second having a balcony. After a FULL day running around Saturday I snuck out on to the patio with Dad’s 2019 Christmas Socks and put on a few rounds after the kids went to sleep.
The Kansas humidity made the wool a little sticky in my hands. But you can’t argue with the sunset view!

Multitasking Working Mom
No finished object this Friday. Just a mom battling a cold and trying to feed her family. I’m over germs and I’m ready for spring air and open windows. Today is brought to you by Hamburger helper and knitting while I “cook”. After a full day at work, blowing my nose 1,100 times this was the best I could muster. And Jellybean declared it “THE BEST DINNER EVER” because it takes like macaroni and cheese.
P.S. This is my mini solutions scarf. I’ll try to do a better blog post next week if I can manage. I’m on the fifth color and you guys really need to see this. It’s amazeballs!!

Snow Pretty
We are gearing up for another round of winter weather this weekend. But I thought I would show you some of the beauty from the last snow storm. This one was pretty mild in my area and fell mostly over night.
It was a nice wet soft snow that literally blanketed everything in sight!
But yet didn’t make travel too terribly bad. The streets cleaned up nicely.
But best of all, it was perfect snowman snow for Jellybean and the hubby! Jellybean says his name is “Snowy”, lol
