A Matching Pair

Still sprinting to Christmas and I finished first pair of fingerless gloves for teacher holiday gifts. I LOVE how they turned out.

Pattern: Dreaming of Spring Fingerless Gloves by Joelle Hoverson

Needles: US 5s throughout

Yarn: Good for Ewe Claddagh in the Abyss colorway

Mods: I didn’t use smaller needles for the ribbing. I just couldn’t be bothered and they turned out just lovely.

I unfortunately will not get a second pair made before class lets out later today for the other teacher. So I slipped a card with a treat and an IOU for the other teacher. Now I can chill a little bit and work on the gloves over school break.

P.S. I literally was finishing the second glove and lost the first one for like 20 minutes. I had a full on panic attack….10 out of 10 do not recommend.

A Cozy Pair of Emotional Support Socks

My Emotional Support Socks are finished and ready to be all cozy for Christmas!

Pattern: My own 68 stitch toe up vanilla sock “recipe”

Yarn: Agirlandherwool BFL Sock. This is the full skein that came with my 2020 advent calendar

Needles: US 2 (Flexi Flips)

Mods: None! Just cruised on the socks until I used up all the yarn

These socks fit like cozy gloves. I have been making my socks with 68 stitches for years now. I think between my feet changing and my gauge changing….I might be cruising for a 68 stitch toe and then a 72 stitch foot and leg. It’s a fine line as I still want negative ease but I also want the finished objects to wear well.

These socks are reasonably tall and used 90 grams of yarn which is 360 yards. It felt great to get this stash completely used up and out of my stash! Now I need to game plan my next pair of sock. I am thinking they will be for my Christmas Eve cast on…..

A Festive Glove

I am running this knit to the wire but I am getting there! My Teacher gloves are almost done for pair #1. I have been distracted by finishing socks and hats. These will become my next priority!

These are an adult size medium and fit/stretch nicely. So finger crossed (hehehehe) that they fit the kid’s teachers. Oh, and I can crank out a second pair of these yet this week.

The mate has been started so as to avoid SSS (Second sock syndrom) so let’s warm up the hot chocolate and get to knitting!!

2023 Advent Update

A little toasty update to my 2023 advent socks!

The pair on the left are my Cozy Knitter advent and are for sure coming out in a rainbow. Its beyond gorgeous but sometimes late in the evening the subtle fade is hard to detect. Still so happy with it and wouldn’t change a thing!

The pair on the right are my KirbyWirby advent and its Friends themed. These stripes are random but still cohesive. These stripes are smaller than the other advent and will result in shorter socks. And that’s okay, I’m fine with executing the dyers vision

I will try to sneak in one more update before Christmas on these. I’m so stoked to have two new socks for the season!

A Hat With A Pop Of Color

I had to stay up a little later than I wanted, but I did manage to finish my Chocolate Musselburgh! I squeaked out a perfectly lovely adult sized hat that is super snuggly and warm.

Pattern: Musselburgh by Ysolda Teague

Needles: US 8s

Yarn: K-Zip Knits Waterfront Worsted in Cocoa and Blacklight

Mods: I had to add the contract bit to be able to close up the hat.

The hat did come out to a comfortable size after adding that extra bit of yarn. The full hat is 257 yards so a full skein plus a fifth of that remainder. I am kind of liking the sneaky pop of color hidden inside my hats! It is also doing great to use up my little bits of scraps.

George And A Little Knitting

The boys had evening events this week so I grabbed PB and took her to the local Children’s Center to see the Curious George exhibit. This place is indoors and full of fun, science, art and lots of room to run. We spent almost 3 hours running around and I CRUSHED the rest of my Chocolate Musselburgh hat.

PB got some solo mommy time and I got lots of steps and stitches complete as well. Can’t ask for more during this hectic season! I am afraid that I am not going to have enough yarn to make this an adult medium hat. I do have some K-Zip Knits scraps of this same base laying around.

I think I will pull those out and use to close up the inside of the beanie like I did with my handspun Musselburgh. Bonus of this time, it will be like weight and wool type. I think I might be able to crank this out after my advent socks tonight!

Happy Knitting!!

Interrupted Knitting

I am making decent enough progress on my purse knitting, which is my Emotional Support Socks. I was working on them and set them down to grab some water. Only to come back to find Duke using them as a pillow. I didn’t have the heart to move him.

I have this goal of getting these socks finished before the Christmas holiday. I am just ready to move on to another skein of pretty yarn. Maybe even something in a heavier weight like sport or DK?

But that probably means I need to keep the pup off them and they would get done faster! Happy Knitting!!

Work Knitting And Auditing

We are screaming towards year end at work and that means year end financials and audit season. I have taken the grace to work from home one day a week to focus on tasks that take concentration.

I have been keeping my Chocolate Musselburgh on my WFH desk to add a few stitches while my queries are running or I’m reading narratives. It’s a great way to add lots of knitting and keep the Christmas sweets out of my hands!

Cast On: Christmas Insanity

Cast-on-itis has me in its grips. I got a wild hair to cast on some fingerless gloves to see if I could make homemade teacher gifts. This is Christmas insanity!

I have made these mitts before out of this exact yarn. I am making the Dreaming of Spring Fingerless Mitts by Joelle Hoverson. It’s in my More Last Minute Knitted Gifts book. The yarn is Claddagh by Good For Ewe and its been kicking around in my stash since 2020.

It’s a 2-ply yarn so it’s not great for everything but makes really pleasing fabric for mitts. Crazy me wants to make two full pair of women’s medium mitts in like 12 days. I am now confident I am nutts.

Happy Knitting!!

Advent Progress

This photo is a few days old but I wanted to show off this gorgeous advent yarn. I think this is day 5? I have also increased both sets of socks from my standard 68 stitches to 72 stiches as my gauge has tightened a bit this year.

The pair on the left is the 2023 KirbyWirby advent skein that is Friends themed. Each day comes with a quote from a character that lines up with the shade. I find them exceptionally fun and its nice to have a chuckle every evening.

The pair on the right is the 2023 Coxy Knitter advent skein. This one has slightly thicker stripes even though I am using the same stitch count and the same size needles. I am betting these will be taller socks. The back to back greens did get my old eyes. I knit these at night and it can be hard to see when the new color starts. But I LOVE the project they are making.

Happy Knitting!!
