2021 Advent: Day 5

My fingers are aching a little bit, but day five is complete from my 2021 Chromatic Yarns advent calendar. This color was called Merfolk and I think its a fitting name for this lovely blue.

I’m getting the pattern memorized into my brain. I still have to refer to the patterns for the heel turns but other than that I can cruise right along. I pulled some ribbon from my stash to determine if it was the right medium to hang my items. I think some experimentation is order as I’m not sure I found the right thing.

Now, on to day six! Happy Knitting!!

Time to Weave Ends

All my blanket mojo means there are dozens and dozens of ends to weave in. Thus far I have been doing them few by few. But I let the blanket get away from me.

I took three HOURS and three episodes of Leverage: Redemption to weave and trim a whole a whole mess of ends. I was pretty proud of the ball I built.

Now with all the admin taken care of, I can get back to the knitting! Happy Knitting!!

Memory Mojo Unlocked

My blanket mojo has fired up after the holiday haze has lifted. I have added NINE squares since last I showed this off last time.

I finished off an entire row and started a brand new one. This newest row is leftovers from my tiny sweaters and tiny socks from the 2021 Chromatic Yarns advent calendar. I still have a tiny nub of yarn leftover after I complete all three things. So those are going into my scrap stash.

I have 24 minis and 17 squares across, so when I hit the end of the row I will have to decide to go to another row or add an additional column. What do you think??

2021 Advents: Day 4

A lazy day still neglecting to take down all of the Christmas decorations has brought to you a new tiny sweater and two new tiny socks.

This was day four of the 2021 Chromatic Yarns advent calendar. It was a beautiful golden rod color. This D&D inspired color was called Yochlol. I have not a stinking clue what that means as I don’t follow that genre but I can appreciate beauty in all forms.

On to day five! Happy Knitting!!!

Boxing Day Bonus

I treated myself to a little yarn surprise as I really can’t 100% count on my family to sustain my yarn habit. This year my kids picked out beige towels and a bath mat. Perfectly lovely but not exactly crafy.

I snagged a skein of Chromatic yarns in Sturdy Sock called True Sight. Also a cute little puppy hand beaded stitch marker. Hannah also throws in a bag of bird and blend tea. This one was a fruit and custard herbal tea.

Zero clue what I will do with this yarn and so it will go into my Chromatic Yarns every growing stash. I feel like making another variegated shawl in this year. I have lots of blues and greens along this color scheme that would blend well. Maybe after I lose my mitred square blanket mojo?

Happy Knitting!!

Ghosts of Advents Past (Part 2)

When I found my wee advent socks, I also found the mini sweaters I was making. I hated them…they were short sleeved and very tiny. So I ripped them out and figured out a long sleeve and larger version I liked.

They turned our great! I am still using Wee Sweater by Sarah Schira pattern, just with some mods. A wee sweater takes me a full evening of TV knitting. So I only have two of these complete but they are fun and get a little faster each time.

For these, I found some gold ribbon that I plan to “hang” the sweaters from for a sweater garland. This garland will be separate from the tiny sock one. One is good so two must be better!

Happy Knitting!!

Blanket Scunchie

Thanks to PB’s makeup gymnastics practices my Chromatic Yarns ZigZag blanket now looks like a scrunchie!

There are over 300 stitches on the needles so it takes me approximately 45 minutes to do the pattern and return row on this zig-zag. Needless to say, this might be an all winter long WIP, lol.

I have roughly 10 rows completed with like a million to go. Happy Knitting!!

Cast On: Chromatic Yarns Zigzag Blanket

I couldn’t wait any longer, I cast on a Zigzag blanket from my stash of Chromatic Yarns DK.

This will hopefully be throw sized as there are over 300 stitches on my needles. It was a lot of counting to get the zig zag set up successfully. But now I hope it’s going to cruise along. I am using size 5 needles with DK weight yarn.

I have the colors laid out to make a fade of sorts. I will knit until I run out of my current color and then add the next. The yarn is variegated enough that I don’t think actually fading would add that much. So simple and stead it is!

This should make for some cozy winter knitting. Happy Knitting!!

Enough For A Blanket

I have had this niggling idea in my brain for awhile now. I have a fiber fondness for The Corner of Craft and her Chromatic Yarn (inspired by Dungeons and Dragons). I felt like I had developed a nice amount of her DK stashed up, and I was correct.

Through various purchases I have a total of 10 skeins of DK. Six skeins are from her Resistance collection last year and the others have been standalone purchases. Looking at it all laid out, I think I have a really cute blanket to be made here! I arranged the skeins in a fade with two darker skeins for a border.

Looking at the photo now, I may move a couple of the purples around. But I am torn between a crochet project and knitted project. And do I find a pattern or just make something up as I go to be my own designer?

So many possibilities and so many ideas!!

Themes On A Color Story

I saved up some fun money and managed to blow it all in one place, lol. I fell down in Hannah of The Corner of Craft’s shop update last month.

The two skeins on the left are BFL DK in a variegated purple called Metagaming Pigeon, the pink skein is a sparkle sock in the Net of Shadows colorway and finally the darkest skein is another BFL DK skein in Gift for Lolth. I also couldn’t resist the hand beaded project marker because avocado is one of my favorites.

Full disclosure, I have zero plans for any of this yarn. I really should pull out all of my Chromatic Yarn stash to see what I have amassed so far. At this point I could probably make a whole blanket with just this dyer, lol.

Happy Stashing!!
