A Single Sleeve

The first sleeve of the Bibliophile 2 is complete!

That 2×2 ribbing felt like it would never be done. I did make the choice to leave the stitches live and I’ll put some waste yarn in. I want to wash and block the sleeves before I bind off. I have been burned by sleeve length in the past and this way I can rip back or add if I need to without picking out a cast off.

I have even got the needles in and picked up for the second sleeve. Im tempted to find needles and get the neckline picked up as well. Do all the fussy bits now so I can cruise for the rest of the body.

Cast On: Sharing Creativity SB

I decided to wind and start something with the Caracol that I picked up last month.

I chose the Sharing Creativity SB pattern from Pamela Kay. It was made for this yarn and I thought that was prudent. So far the yarn is lovely to work with. These needles however, are very hard to make increases with. Super annoying in fact.

This will be a cowl that has a point in the front. It should keep the wind out nicely. I am curious to see how much yarn this eats up. I have two skeins just in case.

The Season Continues

I have finished the ripping out of the Bibliophile 2 sleeve sweater.

I decided that 2026 has been hard enough and I don’t have to take down my Christmas lights unless I want to. So I have been running them a few nights a week while I am knitting or watching TV. They just bring me cheer and honestly just the amount of light I need to see this blue yarn.

I am pretty close to the total length I need for this first sleeve and then I can just bust out the second to match this first one. It will mean a lot less measuring (hopefully).

All Legs

Happy Memorial Day! I am planning on sitting in the sun and knitting on my Frankensocks on this day off of work.

I used spring golf lessons to turn both gusset heels on the socks. So everything now is just cruising up the legs until I run out of yarn. I pulled some other scraps but I don’t think I will need them. The black and white should make more than tall enough socks.

Finished: In The Light Blues Take Two

The In The Light Blues, Take Two is done!

Pattern: In The Light by Casey Day-Crosier (rav link)

Yarn: Multiple single skeins from my deep stash: Rav Notes

Needles: US 7s

Mods: shorted the lace section to conserve yarn

All in all the remains of the yarn from the In The Light Blues first version amounted to just over 1,005 yards of yarn in this scrap version. I literally didn’t have even an inch leftover. I am happier with the fade on this version as it looks more organic to the eye. There are less hard lines.

It feels nice to have some other color palettes available in this versatile shawl. This is the sixth iteration I have made of this pattern. It wears well and I get a ton of compliments on each of them when I wear them.

I need to quit messing around and get back to my Vary the Gate. It has not grown appreciably as I have worked all these other faster shawls. I need to pull that out!

KITH KC Gift Bag

I took a weekend away to Knitting In The Heartland KC 2026. And because I signed up for a class, I got a swag bag.

Pretty standard haul with a plastic tote bag (could also be a stadium bag) and then some treats inside. I got a tape measure, a sticker, a spinning tool, a ball winding tool, scissors, color wheels (x2), yarn sample, a project tag and a tool kit.

The bag was pretty nice as it allowed me to collect my purchases and bits and bobs as I shopped and took classes. Stay tuned for tomorrow for my class stuff. I took a drop spindle class 🙂

Hotel Blocking

I managed to get my In The Light Blues Take Two done but not blocked before leaving for a weekend away.

I used some white variegated with rainbow speckles to finish the last of the fringe. And then chunked into some water. I didn’t do a full soak or use any wool wash as I was improvising. I did use a hotel towel to squish out all the water and then dry over the hotel shower door.

I hope the hotel cleaning staff got a kick out of it, lol. I am going to wait for some sunshine and I’ll take some FO photos of this this week and measure all the yarn. The good news is that I didn’t have any scraps leftover!

Lost Yarn Chicken

I did indeed lose at yarn chicken on my In The Light Blues Take Two. Sigh

I know I was in trouble once I got established in the lace section. It was patently clear that I wasn’t going to have enough yarn to finish as written. So I make a few rows of lace and then started the fringe border. And EVEN THEN I still lost yarn chicken.

I have my crochet scrappy blanket kicking around here so I will find some light blue or white variegated yarn to finish this last few inches. No one will ever be able to tell when it’s done and around my neck. But dang…..I was so close!!

Finally A Gusset Heal

My Frankensocks have done a lot of traveling but not received a lot of progress.

I have slogged my way through the first two colors of yarn and into the third. All while starting the gusset heel on the first sock. I have the second sock set up to do it’s heel right after this one.

I just need a few more gymnastics lessons and a boost of dopamine to get my butt in gear on my knitting!!

The Third Fade

I have been MIA for a bit with low MOJO and high work stress. I did take my In The Light Blues Take Two to a work retreat and manage to complete all the way to the third fade.

This was like a solid 8 hour day and then a second half day of 3 hours. Not too shabby of progress in my opinion. I am worried that I will come up short. Basically for the first two colors I worked until I literally ran out of yarn and then moved on. So I have no scraps, at all!

But this means I didn’t always get to the stitch count the pattern indicated to have when working the transitions. I fear I may be playing yarn chicken later. I am in the last color and just need to get to the total count for the lace portion.
