The Camo Socks are moving along nicely!
The heel is turned and I’ve started the ribbed leg. I took one small detour to knit some of this yarn into my scrap blanket before I ran out. I definitely wanted this yarn in my memory!
Now I’m just in the tedious portion of knitting and weighing my skein so I know when I get close to halfway and to cast off. I want to make sure I have enough for sock number two!

My newest Camo sock has a heel!
I wasn’t fussy about the striping sequence in the gusset heel. I was in a webinar training for a couple hours this weeks and managed the entire heel turn! I just can’t get over how ginormous this sock is..
I also put a new tool to use during my heel turn!
I used a row counter tool to keep track of my total stitch count across the heel so I wouldn’t have to keep re counting. It was so simple yet so awesome! Kinda kicking myself for not figuring it out sooner…

Due to my recent knitting ennui, I decided just to cast on some vanilla socks to get a jump on next year’s Christmas knitting. I pulled some Cascade Heritage 150 Prints from my stash. This is some self patterning yarn in a mix of brown colors. I think it looks a bit like camo.
This is just a 72 stitch toe-up vanilla sock on size US 1.5 needles. I think I will do a gusset heel as my dad likes the fit of that. It will mess up the self patterning a bit but he’s not fussy about such things.
This is a nice fat yarn that knits up very quickly. I’m already almost done with 9 inches of foot and getting ready for the heel after just a few knitting sessions on this. I was also pleased to use my new Big Bang Theory bag!

I have finished sleeve purgatory on my Storytime Scholar cardigan for Jellybean. I’ve even picked up for the button bands and collar. It’s seriously like 10 or 12 rows of knitting and I will be done. I have plenty of yarn and I’m pleased with the project so far. It’s just a little less exciting color wise than other things I’ve been knitting lately so it can get dull.
This is my last active WIP for the Down Cellar Studio’s Pigskin Party 2016 KAL. All I have to do is have this done by the SuperBowl next weekend. I feel like the little engine that could…I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!
I’ve reached sleeve purgatory in my Storytime Scholar!
I’m making the 4T size and I feel it’s taking forever. I thought I was close to finishing the first sleeve but when I held it up against a slightly too big tee….I still need more. Sigh
It really is close. And it’s bulky yarn so I just need to suck it up. I don’t mind the knitting, it’s just I can’t wait to get this on Jellybean!

It seems like winter should be about over but we have miles and miles to go yet. The germs brought in by a certain toddler have really hit our house hard. Since Christmas we have had colds, the stomach flu, and now pink eye. I’m so over it!
The only bright side is that my Sockhead hat has seen some decent progress!
I finished the brim and an inch of stockinette while home with a sick baby. The other couple of inches of stockinette are thanks to back to back webinars at work last week.
I’m IN LOVE with this yarn. The speckles are just the right amount of cheer to ward off the grey winter. I’m a little hopeful I can finish these before the super bowl so I can have another FO for the Pigskin Party KAL.

My Storytime Scholar is cruising right along. I’m past the pockets and almost done with the ribbing. 
It’s knitting up very well with semi-dense fabric. Which I’m hoping will withstand the toddler abuse. I keep thinking it looks frighteningly big. But the thing with kids is that they keep growing!
My next step will be to bind off the ribbing and then I think I will seam up the pockets. The pattern calls for to do this last but the extra flapping fabric is bothering me. After that I guess it’s the dreaded sleeves. I’m saving the collar for last in case I need to use yarn management.

My son is a tiny little inferno. It’s been legit below zero in Kansas a few time this winter and I’ve had to literally fight to get a coat on my 2.5 year old. A kind older couple (strangers to us) at the next table very nicely assisted in scamming my son into his coat after we enjoyed a nice dinner out. I mouthed a silent thank you to what I assume was a very accomplished Grandma. Or at least she should be one…she was great!
Having written this…I’m not sure why I’m even knitting what I’m about to show you…
This is the Storytime Scholar by Lisa Chemery. It’s a paid for pattern that I spotted one night on a Ravelry binge. It’s bulky and gorgeous and just all the things. I checked the “In My Stash” feature on Ravelry and noticed I had enough Knit Picks Biggo to make this in a suitable neutral outerwear color. And I have the needles…so off I went! Being that this bulky I cruised through the raglan increases in one night. I’m now in the body and in skein two of yarn. It’s 50/50 superwash merino and nylon so it should wear just fine. Not that my little Jellybean will stop growing long enough to wear it out anyway. My 2.5 year old is already in 3-4T toddler clothing. So I’m hedging my bets and making the largest pattern size of 4T.
Fingers crossed he will wear it long enough for me to take at least some decent photos of it. And that it’s cold enough that I can get a few outings of this yet this winter.

My Happy Valley socks are halfway there! (Don’t mind the dog hair…no matter how I clean it sticks to everything, sigh)
I’m copying the stitch count and measure from my Cygnus Vanillas with the exception that I’m working a gusset heel instead of an afterthought heel.
The yarn is Knit Picks Hawthorne Sport in the Happy Valley color. It’s playing quite nicely with my stitch count. I didn’t encounter any pooling or flashing, just some mild striping!
It actually went up farther than I anticipated based on how fast my yarn ball was shrinking, but not as far as my typical socks. But these are so lovely I’m just rolling with it. I used all but three yards of half of the ball…if that makes sense. I knit until I was scared I didn’t have enough to bind off and then stopped!
Now I need to get cracking on sock #2!
