Treasure Goddess Yarn Party

I may or may not have fell down on my wallet at the 2025 Treasure Goddess Yarn party this past October. The kids and I had a free Saturday morning so we headed over to KC to see the Treasure Goddess Farm.

Jellybean grabbed his own first knitting bag some Harry Potter stickers whilst PB chased the ducks and chickens. I meanwhile went insane. I grabbed five skeins of bubblegum pink Treasured DK Luxe. This is 70% alpaca, 20% silk and 10% cashmere base and BABY soft. I am going to make a garment that will highlight the drape of this yarn.

Next up I grabbed two four ounces braids of fiber that are a wool/yak mix. The first is a burgundy and the second is a purple. I think I will spin those singles and ply together for a barber pole. I also grabbed a skein of DEEP blue her Warmth Worsted for my hat stash.

Finally the kids convinced me to grab a Christmas garland kit where they paint the ornaments. Cleverly Christine had some free wooden ornaments out for a craft table and my kids were hooked.

I really need to find more time in my schedule to craft all this yarn! Happy Stashing!!

Cast On: Vary The Gate

For my next 2025 pigskin party cast on, I am doing Vary the Gate with some yarn from the Suburban Stitcher.

I don’t think I have made a shawl in YEARS. But this skein of neon green is languishing in my stash and this pattern is perfect for wildly variegated yarn. It’s a four row repeat and you work until you do a four row cast off.

I think I am going to make a little note card and stick in the bag as I don’t need the full pattern. It does feel a little weird to work on these small needles and yarn after so much worsted and DK. Probably not a bad thing for my fingers and hands….

Happy Knitting!!

All Plied Up

Happy Halloween! To celebrate today I bring you two plied skein of some kooky handspun.

As predicted I did have to spin these singles into two skeins, even with a jumbo bobbin. One is slightly bigger than the other as I didn’t get the exactly even. The first skein went great and I didn’t have many issues with the singles.

The second skein was a different story. The pink bobbin ran out super early and I only had two bobbins left. The remaining two bobbins were not spun enough in spots and I had a lot of breakage. And finally I was left with only the blue bobbin and I had to chain ply to finish all the singles.

Now these are off to a bath and whack so I can measure my final weight and yardage!

Happy Spinning!!

Dividing For Round Yoke Pullover Sleeves

I have been cruising on my Round Yoke Pullover. I am just barely past the divide for sleeves.

I have plenty of yarn and I torn about knitting an inch of two body and THEN doing sleeves. Or doing the sleeves last since I don’t have to worry about yarn chicken. This is a commercial enough yarn that I don’t think I will have to worry about helical knitting the body.

It’s finally getting chilly enough here that I am excited about sweater season! Happy Knitting!!

Plying The Crazy

I decided to break out my Hitchhiker spinning wheel to ply my 2025 Pigskin Party spinning project.

I got all three bobbins situated on my lazy kate under small but of tension. I chose my Hitchhiker because it came with a jumbo flyer and bobbin.

I rarely use this wheel as it is single treadle and not as intuitive for me to use. And this go around I ended up needing to replace the tension spring before I could go very far. Eventually I got going and consistently in the correct direction.

I am pretty sure I have enough fiber I will need to fill this jumbo bobbin and let it rest to take off the first skein before I can do the second. I am confident 12 ounces is too much for this.

Happy Spinning!!

Cast On: Dragonfly Hat

I needed another hat for my work bag after I finished my Online Training Hat. I grabbed a skein from my abstract fiber haul and got started.

True to my broken record, this is my 88 stitch beanie “recipe” on US 8 needles. I am working a folded stockinette brim. At this gauge I am going to get big lime green stripes/pools and mini/micro stripes of the light blue and purple. Should be an interesting look when finished!

Happy Knitting!!

Three Finished Bobbins

I succeeded and all the minis from my 2025 Pigksin Party KAL spinning are DONE!

I finished the pink singles over the weekend and they are now resting. I should rewind the bobbins since I have spun some of the first two bobbins multiple weekends ago. But I probably will not, lol.

I need to make a plying plan and set aside some time and I should have a finished yarn. I am very excited to score this for some KAL points for the current Down Cellar Studio KAL and blitz points. I hope this yarn turns out somewhat pretty…I have some crazy colors going here. It’s all about experimentation!

Happy Spinning!!

The Last Of The Pinks

It’s finally Friday and this is all the fiber I left in my 2025 Pigskin Party spinning project!

Jellybean and I have started a Psych watch/rewatch together. And I decided that since I was rewatching that I would focus on my spinning that is going on my sparrow e-wheel. I laid out all the remaining minis and put the in a “random” order to finish out.

My bobbin is looking so pretty I can’t hardly wait. I still have the blue bobbin and the crazy bobbin already done and waiting. I need to finish these pink singles and let them rest. And then I can start plying them. I am considering plying them on my single treadle wheel as it has a giant bobbin. I need to do some thinking….

Happy Spinning!!

Finished: Love Note

My Love Note is done and blocked! I can’t tell you how buttery soft this sweater is after a good was in yummy smelling Soak.

Pattern: Love Note by Tin Can Knits (Rav Link)

Needles: US 9s and US 7s

Yarn: Old Rusted Chair Sock in colorway Back in The Pulse and Malabrigo Mohair in Whole Grain

Mods: Chose the longer body option

This sweater ended up with over 1,500 yards of yarn. I used 1.81 skeins of the sock yarn and 3.6 skeins of the mohair. That is 271 grams of yarn in the finished garment. I knit the 48.5 inch bust size which came me just slight positive ease. The fabric is pretty stretchy so it has a lot of forgiveness.

I pulled out the dress I plan to wear this with. It’s a sleeveless black dress that has an A-line skirt that hits me below the knee. It has the benefit of showing the lace and my bra won’t show through the lace. I don’t imagine I will ever wear this one without an under shirt. And I think this outfit feels smart and polished so a great candidate for work this winter!

Cast On: Round Yoke Pullover

With my Love Note almost done and my swatch successful, I couldn’t help but start my next sweater. This creatively called “Basic Round Yoke Unisex Pullover” and I think I will just called my Round Yoke Pullover for simplicity.

I chose the 44 3/4 bust size for the pattern. I really like this starts with a knitted collar. I might have gone done an even smaller needle size for the ribbing. And this will be a nice easy/wide collar regardless. I can always go back and crochet a stronger foundation.

I had to get some work done on the Rachelle-mobile at the dealer. Dang kids denting my doors! So I managed to get a couple of increases done and several inches of sweater. I didn’t feel like lugging my huge Love Note so this got all the love.

Happy Knitting!!
