Happy Fourth to all!

I have had this rainbow gradient cooling its heels in my stash since I picked it up this spring at a yarn shop closing. The siren call of this has been strong. It’s 350 yards of DK gradient glory. I just couldn’t find the right pattern of a shawl that would fit my style and show off the gorgeous rainbow. I auditioned several before I realized that the yarn dyer had a free pattern posted with this specific yarn in mind!

So let me introduce you to what will become a Summer Morning Triangle Shawl by Done Roving Yarns. I gathered the project bag, needles, and yarn….all that is left is to cast on!!

Anniversary Yarn

The hubby and I recently celebrated the big 1-0 wedding anniversary. We had a weekend away in Kansas City that involved BBQ, baseball and no 6 am toddler wake up call. He also told me to pick out a skein of yarn and he would buy it for souvenir yarn. (He knows the importance of such a thing.) Well we didn’t have any shops open nearby so of course I hit Etsy. I had seen that KirbyWirby had put a few OOAK skeins up and guys…..I grabbed one!


I got a prototype skein of her self-striping in the Unizebracorn color. This yarn will forever be anniversary yarn in my ❤️

Tracking Progress

For as prolific knitter as I attempt to be, one item I rarely use is a progress keeper marker. I simply don’t own any. Well I remedied that ☺️


I picked up a set from Etsy. The lobster claws are perfect and they are adorably knitting themed! I have even put them to use.


I placed one on my drunken watermelon socks. I don’t touch these very often so it will be good to get a visual reminder of my progress.

So do you guys use progress keepers?

Cuff Territory

My Antimuon Vanilla Socks have seen some decent progress this week. The stripes really are addicting!


I have started the cuff but I’m not sure how much taller I’m going to get. It may come down to yarn management. You can see my heel waist yarn in the light color. I know I want to start with a navy section right before a green stripe. Just to satisfy my own OCD. So I may knit the cuff until I get to that repeat. I’ll just have to see.

WIP Wednesday: Terribly Simple

My Terribly Simple is growing slowly but surely!


Just rows and rows of soothing garter stitch! And the best part is that it’s a one row repeat so no memorization. All I have to do is count garter ridges in order to keep my sections the same and make sure I start the contrast color on the right side row. 

I’m kind of excited to have coordinating shawls!

Just One More Stripe

I don’t think I’ll ever grow tired of self striping yarn. My current pair of self striping socks leaves me just wanting “one more stripe before I stop”.


I even went so far as to knit past the heel placement and has to tink back three rows! You can just see my waist yarn peaking at the top. I’m in love with String Theory Colorworks and their striping genius. I love how the brights pop against the navy!

FO Friday: Nangou

Done done done! May I present Nangou!


Pattern: Nangou by Melanie Berg

Needles: US 5s

Yarn: Hansen Hand Dyes Mega Merino in Boys Don’t Cry for main color. And T&H Fiberworks Favorite Sock in Blue Suede Shoes for contrast color.

Mods: none


This is just so squishy and nice! The pattern is fab and easy to follow. Melanie Berg is just amazing. The main color was a little splitty but not unwieldy. I’m very glad I didn’t add extra sections cuz this thing is massive!


I’m over the moon with this and can’t wait to wear it next fall! Proof…..I took outdoor photos in the 95 degree heat!

Cast On: Terribly Simple

After finishing Nangou I had a TON of the contrast color left over. I couldn’t bring myself to put it back in stash. At first it wanted to be socks and then it wanted to be a cowl and now I think it wants to be a shawl. It’s a sock skein from T&H Fiberworks in Blue Suede Shoes.


And then it hit me….I could make another shawl that would mirror Nangou in color. I did some Ravelry diving and came up with Terribly Simply by Caitlin Ffrench. The and everything was already wound so I took off!


The pattern is written for one color but I’m improvising stripes. It’s all soothing garter and the yarn is looking pretty good! This is my main project now ❤️.

Nangou Needs Blocking

The knitting of my Nangou is done!!


Here she is in all her unblocked glory! After a good spa day I’ll tuck in the ends just in time to take better photos and put this away for summer. 

The bind off took an entire evening! But I’m just so pleased with this. I love the colors and the squishy garter stitch. I can’t wait to see it blocked and finished!
