Growing Squares

My sock yarn memory blanket has seen some additional growth!

I started adding down the right hand side with four new squares. Then I had I skipped around and added one to the bottom. I get a little fussy about trying to mix up the colors and patterns. It’s just a part of the crazy that rolls around in my brain. I don’t like matching colors next to each other. And I have enough scraps that I don’t like solid next to solid or stripes next to stripes (if I can help it).

This project is just so satisfying and is perfect to pick up and put down. It’s kind of detouring my progress on other projects….oops!

Happy Knitting!!

Back To The Blanket

I once again felt the siren’s call of the Sock Yarn Memory blanket. Due to a recent bout of sinus infection and double ear infection I managed to add the entire bottom row while home sick from work.

I have amassed a ton of scraps over the past year and I have plenty of “fuel” to keep this going for awhile. I see this project as being heavy in the rotation for awhile! Sometimes I just sit and pet the pretty. Very good for stress relief but not so good for actually making progress, lol.

Happy Knitting!

Wool Pigery

Instagram enabled me HARD this past weekend. Despite having a near SABLE sized sock yarn stash I couldn’t resist the Kirby Wirby Etsy update. I mean she hasn’t had one in a while, how could I not?

It’s a lovely yellow, grayish, and blue combo with sparkle. These were my high school colors and I just couldn’t resist. The color is Poly Pigtails.

Shhhh….don’t tell my husband ☺️

Happy New Year and Happy New Yarn!

For many reasons the end of 2016 was pretty crappy for me. Christmas not withstanding because Christmas with a two year old is just awesome. (And no it’s not because any certain celebrity died.) The last quarter of 2016 was just one personal gut punch after another and that’s all I will say. A dear friend from college, bridesmaid in my wedding (ahem…almost 10 years ago), and definitely a knit worthy friend mailed me a care package. And it was yarn of course! She is a resident of the Pacific Northwest and has at her doorstep some of the best yarns in the US. At least in my opinion

She sent me two skeins of beautiful Knitted Wit Victory Sock in the Fiesta color. When I opened the package I sent her this photo…

Since I have two skeins of this yarn I think I’m envisioning a pair of socks for me. And the second skein will become a set of matching finger-less gloves. One pair for me and a pair for her.

My life is blessed and I know that. I have a warm house, food to eat, and people who love me. But during the crappy times it really is nice to know someone notices and takes the time to do something to try to make it better. So if you need it right now I’m sending you a digital hug right now……

Merry Christmas To Me!

I sent Santa a wishlist this year. All I really wanted was yarn but my family doesn’t speak yarn. So I sent a list with web links. Santa did good…

Santa and the family hit my wishlist hard at the Loopy Ewe and I might have squealed out loud! I have Abstract Fiber, Into The Whirled, Berry Colorful Yarnings, and Fibernymph Dyeworks. I died and went to yarn fume heaven.

I hope you and yours had a safe and magical Christmas! Happy Knitting!!

Mini Skeins Everywhere!

In case you haven’t noticed from my blog posts I’m kind of obsessed with the Down Cellar Studio’s Pigskin Party KAL. In a recent Ravelry thread the KAL moderators floated the idea of a mini skein swap. I jumped on that hard!

The idea is to pick 12 mini skeins of sock yarn and mail out to 12 knitters and then receive 12 mini skeins from 12 knitters. I don’t have to mail them for a couple of days but I’ve already rounded my skeins up!

I made a Rav page for the swap in case you were interested in the details. That’s 513 yards of yarn in those pretty piles! I can’t wait to see what comes back!

Happy Birthday To Me!

I’m a lucky girl today! I think I was a good girl because when I asked for yarn for my birthday…I got some!

Meet the precious….

FO Friday: Earbud Cozy

I am participating in the Down Cellar Studio KAL aka the Pigskin Party 2016 which runs along the NFL season. In September you could win bonus points for projects that you could justify using in relation to football. I chose an earbud pouch so I could have my earbuds close at hand to listen to the games when I am out and about.

I got the idea from Dani of the Prairie Girls Knit and Spin podcast because she made these for her kids backpacks/back to school. I started with the same pattern Ear Bud Pouch by Mary Keenan and then translated it to sock yarn and bottom up.

My mods are in my Ravelry notes. It turned out a little small but still serviceable. But I suppose that happens when you only use 28 yards of yarn. And I scored 57 points for the KAL!

This has already been pressed into service and is living in my purse!

Insert Squeee Here

I’m a very blessed and lucky girl. I was fortunate enough to win a recent contest hosted by the Prairie Girls Knit and Spin podcast. It was for a copy of Susie White’s new pattern Circuitous Socks and a skein of With Pointed Sticks Ballpoint Sock in the Big Head Little Arms color.

I may have squeeed when the yarn showed up. And you guys the pattern is gorgeous!! I already have several socks lined up so I’m just going to pet this pretty for awhile!

And for those inquiring minds. My entry for the contest was the word pontificate. So I’m going to stop this entry before that word applies!
