FO Friday: Camo Vanilla Socks

The Camo Vanilla socks are done done done!! A nice way to kick off a very rainy morning.

Pattern: 72 stitch toe up vanilla sock with gusset heel

Yarn: Cascade Heritage Prints

Needles: US2 9 inch circa

The joy of the FO and another Christmas project was slightly dampened by the fact that they are not exactly the same. Close enough that only I will notice that the second sock is a stitch or two smaller than the first. Le sigh….

On to my next pair!!

Cast On: Roller Rink Disco Vanilla Socks

I was lucky to secure some Twist Fiber Studio Montford Fingering in the Roller Rink Disco color way as part of my 2016 sock yarn experiment. I grew up in too rural of an area to have access to a roller rink but as a child of the 80s/90s I felt drawn to it…

My brain space is still at a minimum so I’m once again working toe up vanilla socks over 68 stitches. Probably with a gusset heel but I haven’t decided completely. I go these started at the Royals game last weekend so they would count for #batterupkal2016!

I was surrender by Muggles but only a couple people noticed and commented. They were very nice comments, I was pleased!

Happy Knitting!!

WIP Wednesday: Camo Vanilla Socks

My Camo Vanilla socks got some unexpected love this past weekend. We had a last minute babysitter and the husband and I snuck off to a movie at the $2 theater. The movie was terrible but I got 2+ hours of knitting!
I’m an inch away from startingthe heel  gusset. Fingers crossed I can get these done in June for the Down Cellar Studio’s 12 months to Christmas KAL!

I also got a little knitting snuck in on Fathers Day as I watched my almost two year old try to cope with the physics of a spinning sprinkler 😃

Happy Knitting!

WIP Wednesday: Camo Vanilla Socks

I shared a sneak peek yesterday of my Camo Vanilla socks. They deserve a proper catching up!

I’ve finished the first sock and cast on the second. I’m using Cascade Hertiage sock in a Camo-ish self striping color. This is a 72 stitch toe up vanilla sock with gusset heel. And boy howdy is this thing huge! It’s meant for my dad’s size 13US extra wide foot. I tested it on my husbands size 12 feet so I think I’m in good shape.

The yarn is nice and I’ve used it before for a pair for my husband. It a little thicker than fingering to me so I’m using US2 needles. The first sock felt a little sloggy but now that I’m in the second I can see the end in sight so I’m a little more motivated 😜

It will be nice to check another item off my Christmas to do list! Happy Knitting!!

Knitting In The Wild

Hello there! This knitter has been crazy busy and sadly only some of it had been knitting. Summer is upon us here in Kansas and that means BBQ, baseball, family, and loads of travel! Sleep is for the weak (and those without toddlers).

Just wanted to drop in quickly and show some knitting in the wild that will hopefully count for the 2016 Knitting Butterfly’s Great Outdoors KAL!

Lots of dirt and little boys learning baseball! (Jellybean and Grandpa and in the background playing with bugs instead of 3rd base.) And the project is my Camo Vanilla Socks for my dad for Christmas. I hope to get a proper post about them this week but until then…Happy Knitting!!

FO Friday: Party Cake Peep Vanilla Socks

Yay for monogamy!

My Party Cake Peep socks are knit and ends woven in! I really only had to finish one leg and a tiny bit of monagamy helped to finish these.

I’m so beyond thrilled with these. I may be late to the speckle party but I’m smitten!

Project: my own 68 stitch vanilla toe up sock with gusset heel

Yarn: Show Me Yarn Bootheel base in Party Cake Peeps

Needles: US 1s

These are huge hit in my 2016 Sock Yarn Experiment and I’ll definitely track this dyer down again. Now I need to get back to my sock yarn memory blanket! (I’m still obsessed)

Happy Knitting!

Party Cake Peep Progress

Sometimes I’m surprised by my projects. My Party Cake Peep Vanilla socks live in my purse. I pick them up while commuting or waiting in line. But being that they are vanilla…I don’t give them much thought. Guess what…they are almost done!

I’ve turned the heel and started up the leg! I think if I could put down my scrap blanket these might be done soon! Maybe there are knitting fairies that work on these when I’m not looking?

Happy Knitting!

Cast On: Camo Vanilla Socks

Winter is coming…..just kidding. But Christmas is only getting closer and closer. I need another pair of socks for my Dad for his stocking. I had snagged some more Cascade Heritage Prints from my LYS. This is a nice green/brown Camo print which suits my dad perfectly.

This is a nice thick fingering yarn that I’m working on US 2s. True to my sock knitting form this is another toe up vanilla sock. I’m letting the print of the yarn do the hard work. It makes the sock literally fly. I LOVE THAT!
This is more “zen” knitting for me!

Happy Knitting!

WIP Wednesday: Party Cake Vanilla Socks

Good Wednesday morning to all! I have a be WIP. I’ll pause for you to absorb the shock….

I felt the need for more vanilla socks in my life and grabbed the Show Me Yarns Bootheel in the party cake peeps color from Knitting in The Heartland and got cracking.

Thanks to some grandparents baby sitting and the new Avengers movie (I’ll spare you my opinion on that) I cruised through the foot of the sock and started the gusset increases! I’m just working my standard 68 stitch toe up vanilla sock on US 1s.

The speckles are just darn addicting. I can’t put this down! Definitely a winner in my 2016 Sock Yarn Experiment. This dyer has great color sense and the yarn base is pretty easy to work with. I’m smitten 😍

Happy Knitting!
