Dividing For Round Yoke Pullover Sleeves

I have been cruising on my Round Yoke Pullover. I am just barely past the divide for sleeves.

I have plenty of yarn and I torn about knitting an inch of two body and THEN doing sleeves. Or doing the sleeves last since I don’t have to worry about yarn chicken. This is a commercial enough yarn that I don’t think I will have to worry about helical knitting the body.

It’s finally getting chilly enough here that I am excited about sweater season! Happy Knitting!!

Cast On: Round Yoke Pullover

With my Love Note almost done and my swatch successful, I couldn’t help but start my next sweater. This creatively called “Basic Round Yoke Unisex Pullover” and I think I will just called my Round Yoke Pullover for simplicity.

I chose the 44 3/4 bust size for the pattern. I really like this starts with a knitted collar. I might have gone done an even smaller needle size for the ribbing. And this will be a nice easy/wide collar regardless. I can always go back and crochet a stronger foundation.

I had to get some work done on the Rachelle-mobile at the dealer. Dang kids denting my doors! So I managed to get a couple of increases done and several inches of sweater. I didn’t feel like lugging my huge Love Note so this got all the love.

Happy Knitting!!

Swatching

I am making progress on my Love Note and I have several sweaters I want to do this year. And no more that I have ready to cast on. I need more swatches.

I blind pulled one of the project bags I had ready and it was the Unisex Round Yoke Pullover. This is using some deep stash Knit Picks Provincial Tweed in Candy Apple. I think makes a cute pun for casting on during October and Halloween season.

I was able to get gauge the first time, knock on wood, and I’m excited. So I have needles and ready to cast on once I finish my current sweater. Love the new tool I picked up to help with gauge form my SSK swag bag. I measured with this AND a ruler just to be safe.

Happy Knitting!!

Wishful Knitting: Cozy Classic Raglan

My knitting plans are absolutely out of sync with my actual time available to knit. I have now a fourth sweater that I am putting in my wishful knitting category.

This time it is the Cozy Classic Raglan by Jessie Maed Designs. I have five skeins of a grey tweed DK from my a 2020 virtual yarn retreat that I went to. And DK has been my preferred yarn weight for finished garments as I am warm but not to warm. And I have not yet developed the mental stamina to do a fingering weight sweater.

I have this yarn wound, pattern printed and bag ready to go. I just need to swatch to chose final needle size. One downside of all this fit of creativity is that most of these sweater need US 7 or US 8 needles and I only have one interchangeable set and not a lot of singular fixed needles in this size.

I am torn between sourcing some additional in this size and just waiting for those needles to come open. I want to keep the mojo going but don’t want to amass too many needles, lol.

Happy Wishful Knitting!!

Mothers Day Haul

I’m a little late but I finally cleaned my WFH desk and uncovered my Mother Day treats.

The fam got me two skeins of Homestead Tweed in a worsted weight for hat/cowl/who knows. They also got me a notebook that has project planning pages ala Ravelry. I am not normally a paper planner for knitting person but I may give fit a whirl for the 2025 Pigskin Party KAL.

More skeins to add to the stash! Happy Knitting!!

FO Friday: Wool Tweed Hat

The Wool Tweed Beanie is done and dusted!

Pattern: My Own 88 stitch beanie “recipe”

Yarn: Lion Brand Wool Ease Solids in the Hunter Green Sprinkles colorway

Needles: US 8s

This hat used 78 grams or 154 yards of yarn. The gauge is a little denser than some of the other bases I have been working with lately. This will block the wind out for sure. Per my go-to move, this is a stockinette brim that is folded over.

The hat is slouchy on a kiddo and more fitted on a adult. I don’t know who this yarn will go to but the gift pile for sure. Now on to more hats!!

Tweedy Decreases

My Wool Tweed Hat is moving right along.

The body is done and my wee little marker shows where I started the crown decreases. I think that in less than 10 rows that I will be done! This is not my softest hat but it definitely will warm. And this yarn came to me free, aka spirit yarn as coined by the Two Ewes Podcast ladies.

Fingers crossed for a FO this Friday!

FO Friday: SSK Tweed Hat

This hat is delicious! I couldn’t be happier with how my SSK Tweed Hat turned out.

Pattern: My own basic beanie “recipe” with 112 stitches

Needles: US 5s

Yarn: Red Door Fiber Bungalow Tweed in the Hint of Grey

I am right on with using 75% of my skeins for hats. For this sport weight that equates out to 205 yards in the hat. It does take longer to knit but the lighter fabric is pretty nice. And the tweed bits are perfectly set against the grey background. I would knit this base again.

Before I put these needles away I think I will work up a skein of Malabrigo Arroyo for one of my next hats. It’s been floating around my knitting bag and I think I will try this gauge and stitch count again.

Wooly Tweedy Brim

My Wool Tweed Hat has a brim! Thanks to a local baseball game and a couple of beers I managed to get the brim knit and turned.

This hat is denser than my previous attempts but variety is a good right? I am using yarn at a pretty good clip so I hope I can get this hat complete. I usually use 75% of a worsted skein but I am thinking I will be closer to 90%.

I noticed after this photo that my hat is also picking up dog glitter. Duke’s hair gets on everything these days. Happy Knitting!!

Tweed Decreases

It took some digging but I located some DPNs to finish my SSK Tweed Hat.

These aren’t my favorite needles as they are metal and quite slippery. But they do in a pinch. I spread my decreases over eight sections as I can do that kind of star decreases with my eyes closed. But not actually as the yarn has been scooting close to falling off these needles.

A few more golf lessons and I should be able to finish this hat this week! Happy Knitting!!
