I Have A Sock HO

My purse project is growing!

I have a sock HO! (That’s a half finished object.) I’m obsessed with these colors and therefore this is seeing a lot of knitting time. I turned the heel while Jellybean was playing with Papa and I finished the leg while watching Dr Strange with the husband. I Love multitasking!

Fits quite nicely if I do say myself! Happy Knitting!

WIP Wednesday: Bali Vanilla Socks

The fall colors are fading and the winter grey is setting in. And I’m ever so glad I have this bit of sunshine in my purse!

My Bali Vanilla Socks are off to a good start. Another inch and I can start the gusset heel! This blue is just so rich and yummy that it instantly makes me cheerful. They may not grow very fast but slow and steady wins the race!

Happy Knitting!!

Oh Yeah….That’s What Was Wrong

Remember my shawl from yesterday? I remembered another reason I ripped it back….

I accidentally did a stockinette edge instead of garter like the rest of the shawl. Guess what I managed to do again?? Yep, totally did it twice in a row. That’s what I get for going weeks in between working on this project. I am NOT ripping back again. I decided to find 20 minutes of toddler free time and try to drop down and fix it.

I had to correct both sides. It’s not a perfect fix, but it’s definitely not looking like stockinette anymore. And at this point….I don’t care! It’s good enough and I’m ready to move forward, harrumph!!

Out Of Area 51

It’s that time of the Down Cellar Studio Pigskin Party KAL for WIPs! Look at this gem I pulled from Area 51!

This is my Old Man of Storr shawl from my Mothers Day 2016 cast on. I think last we spoke I had started the last section? Yeah, I had to rip that back out. I don’t know what happened but my eyelets were off. Harrumph!

I’m pleased to report that I am back to where I was and I’m carefully moving forward. I’m 16 pattern rows, 16 rest rows and a bind off away from being done! If I can finish this I get 25 points for the KAL! Must….knit….carefully

Happy Knitting!!

Cowl-tastic Week

I’m in the season of accounting year end prep, never ending meetings, and mind numbing webinars. So I’ve packed my knitting with me to work all this week. I got in some great conference call knitting! I had a four hour accounting standards webinar….💤

And now I’ve eve started the spooky stripe section!

I’m loving my yarn color choices and the nice even stitches. It’s very soothing and keeps me focused on monotonous speakers. Maybe I can get this done faster than I thought?

A Frog and a Cast On

Remember that cowl yesterday…..yeah that hit the frog pond. I can’t explain it why but I hated it. I was only a couple rows in, it just made me unhappy. So riiiiiiiiip it went!

Since I already had needles and and a bag ready I formulated a new plan! A stash-busting cowl with Berry Colorful Yarnings leftover that will earn even more points for the KAL!

I pulled some grey sock yarn from Joanns to pair with my leftovers from my Spooky Vanilla Socks. I cast on 200 stitches in the round on size 5 US needles. I plan on working in garter stitch for a few rows then switch to stockinette. After a couple of inches of grey I’ll knit a section of spooky stripes with half of my leftovers. This will be followed by another small grey section, the other half of spooky stripe section, and finally a matching grey stockinette to garter section to finish and cast off.

On this cast on I even got to use my row counter to help me keep track of how many multiples of ten I had cast on! It helped tremendously…

Now to get to the knitting so I can be done by November 30thb

Cast On: Manic Panic Cowl

Hello November!!

I saw on the Ravelry boards for the Down Cellar Studio Pigskin Party KAL that the November interception involved self striping yarn…..but not socks! Well I went digging in my stash for some of those lingering single skeins of self striping sock yarn. What better way to stash bust and earn extra KAL points. After careful consideration I pulled a skein of Knit Picks Felici in the Sweetheart color. A really nice mix of pinks that I chose because it made me happy.

I perused my Rav favorites and rediscovered the Manic Panic Coke by Sarah Core. It’s a simple cowl worked with slipped stitches that should help my stripe repeats really shine. I opted to work the small size that called for 333 stitches. And I ended up using size 7 needle because that’s what I had in wood needles at the correct length. I managed to cast on after bedtime with Jellybean and get a few rows in.

Boy is that a lot of stitches. It’s very bunched up but I made sure not to twist. I made one small mod already. I cast on as called for in the patten but after that I worked two rows of garter stitch before starting the slipped stitch patterning. I really just felt like defining the edge before establishing the pattern. Plus it helped me make sure my cast On was neat and not twisted.

To count for extra points in the KAL I need to finish this by November 30. So this may replace my purse project of vanilla socks so I can get some good knitting time into this!

Happy Knitting!!

WIP Wednesday: Mighty Rainbow Blanket

I’ve finished the second stripe on my Mighty Rainbow Blanket!

I was like four or five rows short of finishing this orange color and it took me all of my tonsillectomy recovery time to get those rows done. The Hiya Hiya wooden needles are MUCH better than the plastic interchangeables I started with. I feel like I will be able to work much faster now that I don’t have to be so careful.

Next up….yellow!!

Mutatis Mutanois Sock Update

Since I finished my Rainbow Brite Vanilla Socks the Mutatis Mutanois socks have been upgraded to purse knitting.

I’m working on the foot of sock one. The yarn is amazing and part of my 2016 Sock Yarn Experiment. The fabric I’m getting on the US1s isn’t as tight as usual but not so loose that it won’t fit. It will be interesting to see if these wear out faster. This is just a 68 st toe up vanilla sock with gusset heel.

Happy Knitting!
