I Think I Need More Colorwork

I spent some time this winter dipping my toe into colorwork hats. I made not one but two Chiefs Touchdown Beanies. I decided my dad also needs one of these Chiefs Beanies for next football season. I also found a pattern for a beanie in Royals (baseball) theme that looks fun

So I went to a local to me dyer and grabbed some of her yarn to work these again. As these teams are also local to her she has colorways that match really well. I got the actual Chiefs kit she makes in Worsted weight and then a blue and a gold skein in sport to make the Royals Hat.

Did I need new yarn? No. But the thought of these specific project made me excited and I couldn’t stop thinking about them and so I am leaning into where the mojo goes.

Wishful Knitting: CopyCat CC Beanie

I have been ignoring my queue for YEARS and for some reason I decided to knit something from it. Or else why have it? I decided to try the CopyCat CC Beanie.

I have a skein of grey Malabrigo Rios that should work nicely. I just need to print the instructions or get them into my phone and I think this will be one of my next hats. I realize that I am LONG past this trend but I think the finished object looks good and I the pattern looks easy.

Cast On: Volcan Hat

The next hat is on the needles after my Azules Hat finished. I am calling this the Volcan Hat.

Still a skein of Malabrigo Rios from my dopamine shopping trip in the color Volcan. For sure this is my next meeting/training knitting. In no shock to this space, this is my go-to 88 stitch basic beanie recipe on US 8s. My coworker really liked this yarn and called it “autumnal” and I think they are right. You really can’t go wrong with Malabrigo colors. And at this rate, I’m on track to knit them all!

Happy Knitting!!

Finished: Azules Hat

I have finished and tagged the Azules Hat!

Pattern: My own 88 stitch basic beanie “recipe”

Needles: US 8s

Yarn: Malabrigo Rios in colorway Azules

This project ended up using 74 grams or 155 yards of yarn. It’s a nice adult sized hat and will be perfect for the recipient I have in mind. This color of Malabrigo REALLY came out looking like blue jean fabric when it was knit up at my gauge, lol.

I really need to get my next hat on the needles! Happy Knitting!!

Peaks Of Pinks

We are back to golf lessons and patio time for mom. Which is great as my Rainbow Radiate has reached my first pink color!

I am glad I went back and corrected the stiches that were bothering me. The rows are long now that I have fully increased for my bust but the rainbow is worth it. I have three more colors to add after this hot pink. So I am CLOSE.

Of course after this it is miles and miles of stockinette body in the main color of the speckled grey. I should be careful what I wish for! Happy Knitting!!

Azules Hat Decreases

I did 12 hours of strategic planning at work this week. And for that time I have a lot of things to absorb and the brim (plus a little) of my Azules Hat.

I opted for a folded stockinette brim as I was knitting at work and didn’t have my full set of tools. It’s also easy on the brain when I am trying to think and participate in group discussions. I am about 1 inch into the hat body so I need several more before I can start decreases.

I think this hat will end up being a gift for a coworker who has been kind to me AND got his but kicked in the meeting we were in. I think he has earned a knitterly gift….

Happy Knitting!!

Finished: Synthe

I finished finished my Synthe sweater!

Pattern: Synthe by Kjerstein Rovetta (Rav Link)

Yarn: Brooklyn Tweed Shelter in the color Amaranth

Needles: US 9s for body and US 8s for sleeves

Mods: I added body length and omitted many of the waist increases. I also added single crochet around the next to bring it in and make the opening smaller.

I ended up using 7.6 skeins of Shelter which is right about 1,060 yards of yarn. This whole thing is SO light given that this was a woolen spun yarn. It is for sure not next to skin soft and I will likely need a tank or shirt underneath for long wears.

And I think I like the fit and how it compliments my shape. I’m happy with the modifications I noted above. I knit this whole thing in just about a month and a half. Which is pretty nice based on the level of my mojo lately.

I am already dreaming of my next sweater! Happy Knitting!!

Cast On: Azules Hat

I have some upcoming all day sessions so I needed some new auto pilot knitting. I grabbed some Malabrigo Rios in the color Azules from one of my dopamine trips to The Yarn Barn.

This is going to be my basic 88 stitch basic beanie because I need this to be super mindless. I got myself cast on and started in the round (without twisting) and into a project. I noticed that this color of Rios is SUPER close the color of my blue jeans, lol.

I have normalized knitting with my work folks so as long as it’s not distracting, I knit all the time now! Happy Knitting!!

Finished: Luminous Hat

The Luminous Hat is off the needles just in time for 60 degree weather, lol.

Pattern: My own 88 stitch basic beanie “recipe”

Needles: US 8 (squares)

Yarn: Another Craft Girl Merino Worsted in Luminous colorway

This hat used 71 grams or about 153 yards of yarn. This means it turned out a tid bit smaller than my normal. I think I started the decreases too early. It still fits a reasonable sized adult head. I can turn this in for SSK points.

And I have new yarn wound for my next hat project for more marathon upcoming meetings! Happy Knitting!!

Developing Rainbow

I am MUCH happier with my Rainbow Radiate after ripping back and redoing the colors and types of increases. Turns out I used backward loop and then knit them with the wrong leg in the first try. I twisted them and they look much better now.

I was worried about my choice of a rainbow gradient when in the lime and yellow sections. I was not digging it. But now that I am adding orange and I can picture the red I think I will like it in the end.

Now I just need to find some mojo or alone time to get more stitches on this. I am feeling a post-winter creative crash. Trying not to force it and maybe I need to dig through some stash or hibernating project?

Happy Knitting!!
