The First Heel

My Vacation Vanilla Socks have reached the heel of the first sock.

This speckled yarn has been a soothing project. I love watching the blips of colors pop up. I’m doing a standard gusset heel as it fits me well.  I must admit I only add a few stitches to this sock at at time but it’s growing despite my best efforts.

The Mitre Rabbit Hole

I’m feeling a bit of ambivalent about my WIPs of late so my blanket has been the recipient of much attention.

It’s squared off again. For sure I’m continuing to add to this project. And I think I’m going to add another row versus a column…for now at least.

I have less than a month until the start of the Down Cellar Studio’s Pigskin Party KAL and that contest does not allow WIPs. So I need to clean the decks so to speak before picking up new projects. I’m already scheming on what I’m going to cast on! Until then…..more Blanket!!

A Sincere Lack of Motivation

My Summer Morning Shawl still looks like this…

I just can’t make myself work on this. After some deep thought I realized I just don’t love this yarn and pattern combo. I’m also hating working back and forth in stockinette. So I’m going to frog it. This yarn deserves better. I managed to find a better pattern even!

@Jimmy Beans Wool

This is the Neon Jungle Cowl by Jimmy Beans Wool and I think will suit my Rainbow yarn just splendidly! I feel happier already knowing that this project will suit me much better.

An Inch of Progress

My desk project aka my Strands of Drunken Watermelon socks have grown slightly.

My progress keeper really does help me with observe the slightly more than glacial progress on these socks. I’m getting my head around reading this knitting and easily finding my place as I pick this up and put it down. As for the yarn, this yarn doesn’t disappoint. But Miss Babs rarely disappoints!!

Mitred Mood

My knitting brain is on the fritz lately. Jellybean seems to think sleeping is optional. So the only grey matter I can spare has found it’s way to my scrap blanket.

Since last I showed you I’ve added a full column on the right and I’m now working a new row across the bottom. I may have hit some Etsy sales on mini skeins in order to grow “the precious”. I’m also double dipping into some previous used colors to keep building.

It’s officially lap sized but I’m nowhere near done. I love this too much!

Playground Knitting

Jellybean is currently in a…..lets just call it sleep rebellion. And only mommy is allowed to “help” him. So pardon me while I down my second coffee because I’ve been up since 4 am.

We have been spending a lot of time in parks to help him run off his toddler wiggles. And I’ve taken my knitting! God bless Erin Lane bags and their handy snap feature….

I had my Vacation Vanilla Socks clipped right to my belt loop and knit while Jellybean performed play yard acrobatics that made me cringe and smile. I guess this way we both have a little creative time!

Oh The Places You Can Knit

While I was exploring yarn shops my mom tagged along and I took her to quilt shops in and around Colorado Springs. Quilts aren’t my bag so I waited in the car and jammed out to podcasts and worked on my TrueBlue mitts.

I made good progess. What you see above is an almost complete mitt #2!  Though most of this progress was made during the drive out to Colorado. But not one person even blinked twice about a slightly sunburnt lady knitting in a Suburu on a Saturday morning. 😃

Happiness in Blue

My True Blue Fingerless Gloves were well on their way last we spoke. Well some decent toddler bedtimes this week led to some more progress. The first mitt is done!

I was able to rejoin in the round after my thumb opening was big enough. After that I zoomed up the hand and finished with more 2×2 ribbing!

After I finished the ribbing I knew I wanted to secure the thumb hole a bit more. So I got a teeny tiny crochet hook and SC around the opening. I had enough yarn left over to do three rounds. It really helped to stabilize the hole and create a more polished opening. The actual crochet part was terrible as the yarn was very splity with the teeny tiny and pointy crochet hook. But I survived.

I am over the moon with this mitt. The fit is amazing and the finished size right on the nose for what I wanted. I am already started on the second mitt! Now, I realize that not having another all day conference right away that I may not finish the second as fast as the first. But watch me try….

WIP Wednesday: Antimuon Socks

My Antimuon Socks are creeping ever closer! I put the heel in the first sock.

I even managed fairly consistent color management! The navy stripe is a bit big but I got the green stripe to fall where I wanted. And I’m past the waste yarn for the heel in the second sock.

Not to play favorites, but I really like the stripe sequence in the second sock better. The bright neons just make me happy. These have been my purse/backpack knitting so I’m not sure how fast they will continue to grow. So I’m just going to enjoy the ride!

Terribly Simple Blocking

My Terribly Simple shawl is knitted and blocking!

I was rushed blocking this piece during Jellybean’s nap so it’s a little funny shaped. But I wear these like types of shawls like scarves so I don’t think it will matter in the end.

I hope this dries soon because I can’t wait to see this with ends woven in and all good to go!

Happy Knitting ❤️
