More Minis

I recently found the Sock Yarn Swappers group on ravelry. I had just been a lurker and a stalker but I kept seeing all the swaps and swapless swaps going on and wanted to try one. So back in August I signed up for a Felici swapless swap for the new range of striping color ways that Knit Picks put out this fall.

I got 20 minis of 20 yards to add to my Memory Scrap Blanket. This project is currently hibernating in Area 51. But I know I’ll love adding these self striping beauties to the mix when I pick it up again!

Have you ever done a swap?

Mittens for Jellybean

Even in the heat of summer my child has been obsessed with mittens and light up Spider-Man snow boots. Now the mittens were just cheap dollar store mittens from last year. I think at 2 he’s ready for some mom made mittens!

I’ve completed the first one by using some leftover Berroco Vintage in a teal with the No Swatch, No Guage mittens for kids by Jean Gifford. I don’t like working on DPNs but these adorable mittens will be with it. They are slightly big now but here’s hoping that at least gets us part way through winter!

Sad Panda

My newest socks off the needles took a bit of a sad turn. I put them in a cold water wash with Soak on gentle in my machine and disaster…..

Before:

After:

The blue and purple dye bled and just changed the whole sock. I’m a sad panda. They still fit and are beautiful in a fashion. They just aren’t my bright cheery socks anymore. I should have citric acid treated them but I was in a rush and didn’t think. I whole heartedly regret that but what can you do?

I have an email in to the yarn maker to see what I did wrong and to let them know there was a problem. No answer as of yet.

Here’s to happier knitting!

Podcast Goodies

Awhile back Emily from the Knitting Butterflies podcast has a contest on her show. I entered on a whim because she was giving away a seriously adorable Erin Lane bag and because the contest was about iTunes reviews. I think if you enjoy a podcast that you should support them. I might have drooled over the bag a little too….

And I won! I am ever so grateful to all the bloggers and podcasts who take the time all and all the work involves to gather and ship prizes for these kinds of things. It has to be crazy to fit this stuff in on top of everyday life and a successful podcast. She even tucked in a skein of golden sock yarn!

Now what to put in the bag???

I Heart Yarn

I may have fallen down the Knit Picks hole…

After wallowing in my recent germy funk my keyboard just took itself to Knit Picks. I’ve been ITCHING to make the Might Rainbow blanket from KP Mighty Stitch. And I decided to treat myself and some sock yarn (Felici and Hawthorne) might have fallen in to my cart too.

The Pigskin Party KAL is just around the corner from the Down Cellar Studio podcast. I have big plans for all this yarn to rack ups some big KAL points! I’ll keep posted of course.

Happy Knitting!!

Insert Squeee Here

I’m a very blessed and lucky girl. I was fortunate enough to win a recent contest hosted by the Prairie Girls Knit and Spin podcast. It was for a copy of Susie White’s new pattern Circuitous Socks and a skein of With Pointed Sticks Ballpoint Sock in the Big Head Little Arms color.

I may have squeeed when the yarn showed up. And you guys the pattern is gorgeous!! I already have several socks lined up so I’m just going to pet this pretty for awhile!

And for those inquiring minds. My entry for the contest was the word pontificate. So I’m going to stop this entry before that word applies!

Happy Knitting!!

Hitting Pause

I’ve gotten to where my blanket obsession has abated slightly. I managed to knit like crazy and get a crazy amount of progress!

I’m feeling the sirens call of other projects again. So I’ve moved this project to my bedside table for zen knitting before bed. Progress should slow considerably since I get about 10 minutes in before I fall asleep needles in hand. Oh the life of an exhausted toddler momma!

This might pick up some steam again in September as I joined a couple sick yarn swaps and I’m expecting some exciting new mini skeins!

A New To Me Yarn

I’ve been listening to the Prairie Girls Knit and Spin podcast for about a year now. They are seriously funny lady and excellent crafters. Danie also runs the One Twisted Tree shop, a purveyor of fine yarn and other wonderful accessories. I’ve felt her yarn calling my name but I resisted until my blanket obsession took over. Then this happened…

That’s the Splash Pad Party mini skein set Danie made for the Down Cellar Studio summer KAL. The colors are great and I get to sample her yarn!

I also picked up a sock knitter profile bag. Because hey why not!

Just don’t tell my husband I bought more yarn….😊

Yet Another Blanket Update

My Memory Blanket is still growing!

I’ve added almost another entire row this week. Yes, I’m still stealing from full skeins of yarn to be able to keep working. I may have also ordered more mini skeins, but that’s a discussion for another day. For now I’m just going to admire the precious…

Happy knitting!!

Blanket Obsession Update

The Memory Blanket is still growing!

I’m not sure why I have such a drive to work on this. I know in my knitterly brain that this is a long haul project and it will likely take months or years to finish to a decent size. But the square are just so satisfying!

Enough of this blather as I’m sure you are tired of it. Just enjoy the picture of the pretty precious!

Happy Knitting!
