Slowly And Surely

Slowly at a snails pace, my Christmas Musselburgh is growing. I think am around 11 or 12 inches of hat body.

This project lives in my work bag and the hat itself is serving as a project bag. I am tucking the yarn cake inside the hat to make it portable. I have been knitting while I walk on my lunches and a little bit in the evenings when I can stay awake to watch a show or YouTube podcast.

It’s busy season at work so my knitting and blogging mojo has taken a hit. I am counting the days to May 31 for sure!

Puppy Love Hat

I have been stressing at work so I cast on a new hat. Totally makes sense right!?

This is the Woof Worsted from Lilliput Yarn in the puppy love color. It’s a pink base with splashes of light and dark pink and lots of purple.

I am doing my “formula” worsted hat that is 88 stitches on US 8 needles. I worked 2×2 rib until I thought it looked good and now I’m just stockinette in the round to decreases! Easy peasy

Cast On: Stranded Paintbox Socks

After finishing my Goth Kitty socks, I wanted some socks back on the needles. But I decided to cheat a little and use a sock snake to get a jump start on a project.

I cut the sock snake and ripped back about two inches of the tube. I re-knit about an inch of cuff with the same yarn. It was very ramen-y but workable. I took the tiny yarn ball and I’m going to create the toe of the sock.

I have some black yarn I thought I would use for the heels. But I may decide to go monochromatic for these? I’ll have to see how I feel when I get there. I am excited to get a quick win. The only caveat I have is these are 64 stitch count circumference, which might be too small for my feet. These might be a gift pile…..

Hat For Dayzzzzz

I am SOOOOO close to starting the deceases on my Variegated Musselburgh hat!

My hat is almost 18 inches and I still have a good sized yarn cake left to knit. So I am fairly certain that I can knit to the full 20 inches before the decreases. I might be measuring more often that is necessary for the speed at which I knit.

My family really commented that they love the micro stripes that seem to be appearing in the body of this hat. That is really the fun of variegated yarn, you can really get some cool effects depending on your gauge.

Now…off to the knitting! Happy Knitting!!

A Full Goth Kitty Set

I realized over the weekend that I didn’t show off my full Goth Kitty set of hat and socks!

As a recap, I knit a hat out of Knit Picks Felici in the worsted weight and I just finished sock in the Knit Picks Felici sock yarn. I really feel like the set worked out well! The colors really match well across the different bases.

I have tucked both into my woolen drawer for the next time I need to be toasty! Happy Knitting!!

FO Friday: Goth Kitty Vanilla Socks

I did manage to finish the Goth Kitty Vanilla Socks this week! Almost made the perfect matching set…..until I found a knot in my yarn on the second heel.

Pattern: My own 68 stitch toe up vanilla sock

Yarn: Knit Picks Felici in Goth Kitty

Needles: US 1s

I used roughly 85 grams of the 100 grams of sock yarn I started with. So I think that equates to about 370 yards of yarn. I have a US Women’s size 9.5/10 foot so I need most of the 100 grams of yarn to make a decent sized item for me.

I love how soft the knit picks Felici feels on my feet. It’s SOO soft and I have decent luck with keeping up with the wear and tear on them by washing them gently. I do with the heels matched but I will live, lol. These are off to the sock drawer for the next cold snap!

Happy Knitting!!

The Last Goth Heel

My mojo is creeping back in around the edges and I picked up my Goth Kitty socks to finish the second vanilla tube and it flew off the needles.

I think the last time I showed these off, I just had the second toe worked out. I zoomed right up the second sock and did my dandiest to match the increases from the first sock. It’s always easier to make them up on the first one then to match the second one, lol.

Now I just need to cut my knitting and get the second afterthought heel installed. Then I will have a finished pair of socks!

A Tale Of Two Musselburghs

I seem to have fallen off the knitting world for a bit. I wish I could tell you why but it was all just a bit much. So I took some time and space to do nothing. It was glorious

I really haven’t had much crafting mojo at all. I did manage a little knitting on my pair of Musselburgh hats. The Variegated one is definitely getting more love. I am at around 12/13 inches of stockinette. I need to get to 20/21 depending on how my yarn hold up.

My Christmas Musselburgh has languished a bit more. It has a couple inches added but not that much measurable progress. It is pretty and sparkly though.

I have a feeling at this point, the variegated one will get all the love since it is closer to being done. I just feel like that’s how my brain is going to work. Either way, I will eventually have two finished hats!

Happy Knitting!

FO Friday: Windowpanes

My Windowpanes is dry, seamed and ready for a cold wind!

Pattern: Windowpanes by Jill Ramos (Ravelry link)

Yarns: K-Zip Knits Waterfront Worsted in Sterling and Blacklight

Needles: US9s

This cowl turned out to be a decent size. It is on the smaller side and I didn’t gauge swatch so I’m not surprised. But its warm, soft and very serviceable. I am still deciding if this will be a keeper or a gift.

Happy Knitting!!

Blocking By The Fire

My Windowpanes cowl just sort of flew off the needles! It probably helps that it is worsted weight yarn and the stitch count decreases as you go.

I still have the live stitches on the needs that will need grafted to the short section on the bottom right. I used my wires to stretch the daylights out of this as I am worried the neck opening will be small.

It’s now drying by the fire, so I am hoping it dries quickly and I can finish this one up! Happy Knitting!!
