A Full Goth Kitty Set

I realized over the weekend that I didn’t show off my full Goth Kitty set of hat and socks!

As a recap, I knit a hat out of Knit Picks Felici in the worsted weight and I just finished sock in the Knit Picks Felici sock yarn. I really feel like the set worked out well! The colors really match well across the different bases.

I have tucked both into my woolen drawer for the next time I need to be toasty! Happy Knitting!!

FO Friday: Goth Kitty Vanilla Socks

I did manage to finish the Goth Kitty Vanilla Socks this week! Almost made the perfect matching set…..until I found a knot in my yarn on the second heel.

Pattern: My own 68 stitch toe up vanilla sock

Yarn: Knit Picks Felici in Goth Kitty

Needles: US 1s

I used roughly 85 grams of the 100 grams of sock yarn I started with. So I think that equates to about 370 yards of yarn. I have a US Women’s size 9.5/10 foot so I need most of the 100 grams of yarn to make a decent sized item for me.

I love how soft the knit picks Felici feels on my feet. It’s SOO soft and I have decent luck with keeping up with the wear and tear on them by washing them gently. I do with the heels matched but I will live, lol. These are off to the sock drawer for the next cold snap!

Happy Knitting!!

Fiber Clubs

For Christmas the hubs got me a three month fiber club with WoolFiend. I have gotten two of three shipments. The first was a super fine micron merino in the Euphoria colorway (left)

The next month was a very appropriate spring colorway called “Waiting for Daffodils” in a 100% Romney blend.

I haven’t broken open either fiber packet and don’t have any designated spinning plans. For now I am loving watching what this dyer is doing with color. I may wait until the third installment shows up before I make plans.

Happy Spinning!!!

The Last Goth Heel

My mojo is creeping back in around the edges and I picked up my Goth Kitty socks to finish the second vanilla tube and it flew off the needles.

I think the last time I showed these off, I just had the second toe worked out. I zoomed right up the second sock and did my dandiest to match the increases from the first sock. It’s always easier to make them up on the first one then to match the second one, lol.

Now I just need to cut my knitting and get the second afterthought heel installed. Then I will have a finished pair of socks!

Happy Knitting!!

Fluff From Across The Pond

In the depths of my knitting ennui, I was week and fell down in the Stranded online yarn shop. I snagged two skeins of mohair and one skein of BFL sock in Jude’s Gloom colorway.

For awhile now I have been thinking of a nice lacy and light neutral colored wrap or shawl. The mohair would be effortlessly light and the greys would coordinate with most of my wardrobe. But I just need the gumption to pick a pattern and actually knit the darn thing.

Happy Knitting!

A Tale Of Two Musselburghs

I seem to have fallen off the knitting world for a bit. I wish I could tell you why but it was all just a bit much. So I took some time and space to do nothing. It was glorious

I really haven’t had much crafting mojo at all. I did manage a little knitting on my pair of Musselburgh hats. The Variegated one is definitely getting more love. I am at around 12/13 inches of stockinette. I need to get to 20/21 depending on how my yarn hold up.

My Christmas Musselburgh has languished a bit more. It has a couple inches added but not that much measurable progress. It is pretty and sparkly though.

I have a feeling at this point, the variegated one will get all the love since it is closer to being done. I just feel like that’s how my brain is going to work. Either way, I will eventually have two finished hats!

Happy Knitting!

FO Friday: Windowpanes

My Windowpanes is dry, seamed and ready for a cold wind!

Pattern: Windowpanes by Jill Ramos (Ravelry link)

Yarns: K-Zip Knits Waterfront Worsted in Sterling and Blacklight

Needles: US9s

This cowl turned out to be a decent size. It is on the smaller side and I didn’t gauge swatch so I’m not surprised. But its warm, soft and very serviceable. I am still deciding if this will be a keeper or a gift.

Happy Knitting!!

Blocking By The Fire

My Windowpanes cowl just sort of flew off the needles! It probably helps that it is worsted weight yarn and the stitch count decreases as you go.

I still have the live stitches on the needs that will need grafted to the short section on the bottom right. I used my wires to stretch the daylights out of this as I am worried the neck opening will be small.

It’s now drying by the fire, so I am hoping it dries quickly and I can finish this one up! Happy Knitting!!

Warm Spinning

After finishing my Mirror, Mirror spin, I put some mystery wool on my wheel. I have 6.6 ounces of mystery brown wool of unknown origin. I am not a great wool investigator but I know its not merino at all. It’s a bit of chocolate brown for a Valentines treat!

February has been pretty cold so I have been taking advantage of the fire to spin where its warm. I also have been wearing more of my wool socks. And I’m just spinning and letting the fiber become what it wants to be. I am not spinning with any sort of goal in mind.

Stay warm friends and happy spinning!!

FO Friday: Mirror Mirror 2-ply

Some sparkly fun yarn has fallen off my wheel. I finished plying and have washed the 2-ply I made from my Christmas yarn from PB and Jellybean. I have named it Mirror, Mirror 2-ply!

I ended up with 233 grams/ 272 yards of a bulky 2-ply across two skeins. It’s not my most consistent spin and I was hoping it would come out closer to a worsted. But it’s marvelous finished spin and my kids LOVE it.

The photos really don’t do the purple sparkle justice. I am thinking this should be a cowl? But probably will percolate in the stash for a bit until it confirms to me what it wants to be. Happy Spinning!!
