FO Friday: More Mittens for Jellybean

After finishing the first pair of mittens for Jellybean I immediately cast on for a second pair. I’m under no illusion that as a 2 year old he’s not going to make every attempt to lose or destroy these mittens. Backups are a must!

Pattern: No Swatch No Gauge Mittens for Kids by Jean Gifford

Needles: US 5s

Yarn: Berroco Vintage in royal blue

I used about 100 yards of worsted weight for this pair and the last pair. They are very quick to work up as well. This project also served as #dcspigskinparty2016 KAL project. I worked this in my team colors (aka my dad’s high school football team) to earn extra points in the KAL. And of course Jellybean gets more mittens!

These too need a good wash and block but are just waiting for winter to arrive! Happy Knitting!!

Finished Mittens for Jellybean

I whipped through the mittens for Jellybean this week!

Pattern: No Swatch No Gauge Mittens for Kids by Jean Gifford

Needles: US 5s

Yarn: Berroco Vintage in teal

I love these finished objects despite the fact that I had to use dpns in the round. I’m getting ready to throw them in a bath to wash and block to even out the stitches. I haven’t yet dared to show them to Jellybean because I would never get them back! He’s got quite the glove obsession of late. And with they thought I’m off to start a second pair!

Happy Knitting!!

FO Friday: Black Body Radiation Socks

These socks are my absolute favorite pair to date. I loved everything about them….the color, the yarn, the matching ❤️

Pattern: 60 stitch toe up vanilla sock with afterthought heel over 60% of the total stitches

Yarn: String Thoery Colorworks Orbit base in the Black Body Radiation color

Needles: US 2 nine inch circs

I LOVE how great they match. This is really my first success at this pretty much ever. You guys….I knit these in FOUR DAYS over a long weekend that involved some grandparent time for Jellybean. I want to knit this yarn all the time in all the colors….seriously! My husband better hide my debit card.

Happy Knitting!!

FO Friday: Pot O Gold Vanilla Socks

My hands are getting back in to shape. I’ve managed to make up some time and finish my Pot O Gold vanilla socks.

They turned out a bit loose in the leg but the feet are a perfect fit.

Pattern: 64 stitch toe up vanilla socks with afterthought heel.

Yarn: Dove Roving company Tapping Tootsie in the Pot O Gold color

Needles: US 2 circ

I couldn’t be happier and this has been just the boost I’ve needed to get back in to knitting.

Happy Knitting!

FO Friday: Henry’s Hat

I finished Henry’s Hat for Jellybeans Christmas present. (Well except for the buttons)

I worked the 6-8 size as written. I knew as I was knitting that the hat looked shallow. But I kept deluding myself that it would be okay. The circumference is spot on but he is yanking it down to cover his ears. It’s an easy enough solution… I can reknit the hat as I have plenty of yarn. I only used about 100 yards of a 250 yard skein. And so I can just extend the stockinette portion above the brim another inch or inch and a half.

Either way Jellybean loved the hat and wore it ALL DAY at daycare even though it’s 90 degrees or more in Kansas right now. At least I know he likes my knits!

FO Friday: Roller Rink Disco Socks

The latest pair of socks are done!

The Roller Rink Disco Socks are complete and I say hallelujah!

They are a 68 stitch toe up vanilla sock with gusset heel. But they came out crazy small. Not so much in the foot but definitely the leg. I only used 78 grams of yarn???

They yarn was fantastic so this one is on me. It’s obviously a gauge issue and I didn’t swatch. But this way my sister gets cool new socks, lol.

Happy Knitting!

FO Friday: Camo Vanilla Socks

The Camo Vanilla socks are done done done!! A nice way to kick off a very rainy morning.

Pattern: 72 stitch toe up vanilla sock with gusset heel

Yarn: Cascade Heritage Prints

Needles: US2 9 inch circa

The joy of the FO and another Christmas project was slightly dampened by the fact that they are not exactly the same. Close enough that only I will notice that the second sock is a stitch or two smaller than the first. Le sigh….

On to my next pair!!

FO Friday: Party Cake Peep Vanilla Socks

Yay for monogamy!

My Party Cake Peep socks are knit and ends woven in! I really only had to finish one leg and a tiny bit of monagamy helped to finish these.

I’m so beyond thrilled with these. I may be late to the speckle party but I’m smitten!

Project: my own 68 stitch vanilla toe up sock with gusset heel

Yarn: Show Me Yarn Bootheel base in Party Cake Peeps

Needles: US 1s

These are huge hit in my 2016 Sock Yarn Experiment and I’ll definitely track this dyer down again. Now I need to get back to my sock yarn memory blanket! (I’m still obsessed)

Happy Knitting!

Finished Finished Finished

Finished finished finished….

In Knitmore Girl speak this means knit, washed/blocked, and finish work done. Both my Baby Sophisticate #6 and #7 are COMPLETELY done thanks to a good Jellybean nap. I’m pleased with both. I even did grosgrain ribbon on the button bands, not to toot my own horn too loudly. Now I just need the babes to get here so I can wrap and deliver them!

Happy Friday!

FO Friday: Baby Sophisticate

I’ve done this pattern now six times and I still simply adore it. The sweater is knit, washed and blocked. I still need to install the buttons and grosgrain ribbon (and weave in the ends) but I couldn’t wait to share this (almost) FO!

I think I’m going to wait until I can dig through my mom’s button and ribbon stash. 😜

Happy Knitting!
