I’ve finally decided to kick my rear in gear and start Henry’s Hat for Jelkybean. You know the one I started taking about in April?
Well now the yarn is wound and I tracked down the right sized needles. My pattern is printed and I’ve read it a couple time to wrap my brain around the contraction. Nothing left but the actual knitting to do!

My Roller Rink Disco Vanilla socks are in the home stretch! Just a smidge more 2×2 rib to go.
I’m secretly sad that these won’t fit me. My sister will love them and she’s totally knit worthy but the yarn is just so awesome! It’s the Montford fingering from Twist Fiber studio in the Roller Rink Disco color.
I should have enough yarn left to knit a second pair with contrasting heels, toes and cuffs. At least a short pair anyway. Maybe even a plain pair of yoga/pedicure socks. So that’s some consolation but still kind of a bummer.

I’ve finished the garter section of my Old Man of Storr shawlette.
There were a couple of nights that between the late hour and a glass of vino that caused a few dropped stitches☺️. I tried using my double ended crochet hook to fix them but ultimately I hated how the tension looked. I tinked back the 200+ stitch rows and reknit and it was worth every redone stitch. Now the garter is perfect and my stitch count perfect!
I’ve installed a lifeline (black crochet thread) and tomorrow I’ll start the lace rows! Wish me luck

I’ve been plugging away on my resurrected Mothers Day shawl. I’m almost done with the garter section!
I’ve been knitting and binging on Gilmore Girls (I never watched it when it aired originally). This show is really speaking to me both a kid who went through college at the time and now as a mother. Plus it’s just plain campy and fun. And oh boy….they have a knitting episode!!! Knit! People Knit!! Is season 7 episode 9. And yes I took photos of my favorite scenes 😜
The show had some characters actually knitting and some faking it. But they didn’t make knitting the butt of too many jokes so I thoroughly enjoyed it!

My Memory Blanket is still growing!
I’ve added almost another entire row this week. Yes, I’m still stealing from full skeins of yarn to be able to keep working. I may have also ordered more mini skeins, but that’s a discussion for another day. For now I’m just going to admire the precious…

Look what I found in the WIP bin in the basement…
I pulled my Mother’s Day cast on project from hibernation. This is the Old Man Of Storr shawlette. I’m still in the garter section trying to get to 52 garter ridges. I’m around 38 last I counted. The yarn is heavenly to touch and the garter is soothing. But as is the case with most center out shawls….the rows are getting longer and longer. This shall be a test of my patience!

I’m not sure why I have such a drive to work on this. I know in my knitterly brain that this is a long haul project and it will likely take months or years to finish to a decent size. But the square are just so satisfying!

The Roller Rink Disco socks have felt the love lately!
I’ve completed the foot and turned the gusset heel. I’m really becoming fond of this yarn and the color. The short color sections really blend oranges, pinks, and purples into something eye pleasing. And the fabric has a lovely hand to it.
I’m now torn as to how to finish the leg. I’m leaning towards a 2×2 rib instead of my normal stockinette leg with ribbed cuff. Just thinking about it to switch things up. With the added bonus that these might be a smidge small and the ribbing will forgive a lot of sins!

These socks are on the home stretch!
I’ve turned the heel and started up the leg. These are for a size 13 men’s foot and have 72 stitches. I feel like these have a weird time warp where I knit and knit but don’t get anywhere, Harrumph! I think this means I’m ready to be done with these socks….
I was lucky to secure some Twist Fiber Studio Montford Fingering in the Roller Rink Disco color way as part of my 2016 sock yarn experiment. I grew up in too rural of an area to have access to a roller rink but as a child of the 80s/90s I felt drawn to it…
My brain space is still at a minimum so I’m once again working toe up vanilla socks over 68 stitches. Probably with a gusset heel but I haven’t decided completely. I go these started at the Royals game last weekend so they would count for #batterupkal2016!
I was surrender by Muggles but only a couple people noticed and commented. They were very nice comments, I was pleased!
