Knitting and Snuggles

Just a quick check in from Jellybean and I!

IMG_0612.JPG

This was a Chevron Baby blanket that I made back in 2013. It’s a Purl Bee pattern that was super addictive. And now it’s keeping my little man warm!

We haven’t accomplished much other than nursing, sleeping, and making dirty diapers. I’m just rolling with the flow and soaking up ever minute until I go back to work…

Happy Thursday!!

FO Friday: Jellybean’s Blanket

It’s done!!

IMG_0335.JPG

The edging turned out beautifully! It really cleaned up the edge and tied the whole thing together. And I only had to go round the blanket twice, phew!

IMG_0334.JPG

And for all those interested, the all important stats!

Pattern: Hexa-ghan by verybusymonkey

Yarn: Universal Cotton Supreme Yarn
I used 3.09 skeins/556.2 yards/309 grams of lemon, 2.54 skeins/457.2 yards/254 grams of beige, 3.17 skeins/570.6 yards/317 grams of lime, and 3.09 skeins/556.2 yards/309 grams of teal. That brings the total to 11.89 skeins/2,140.2 yards/1,189 grams of yarn total. I worked a total of 44 hexagons in eight rows!

Needles: US 8 dpns

Mods: I added a single crochet border around the edge to neaten it up and tie the whole project together.

Now it’s washed, dried, folded, and waiting in Jellybean’s crib! I can’t wait 🙂

Happy Knitting!

Happy Labor Day!

Happy Labor Day to those in the US!!

This is just a quick post to show you something awesome, my last hexagon for Jellybean’s blanket! Just need a little more decaf and then power through to the end…

IMG_0305.JPG

Of course it needs a good bath and blocking to flatten out the hexagons. And I plan on crocheting a simple single crochet border, probably in green? So it’s not done but oh so close!!!

Happy Knitting!

WIP Wednesday: Jellybean’s Hexi-ghan

I only thought I was done….

IMG_0263.JPG

My blanket for jellybean is just slightly off of a square. I know it will stretch some when washed and blocked. But I really want more of a long rectangle.

Argh, that means at least one more row right when I thought I was done. Must knit faster… Only 5 weeks to go!

Happy Knitting!!!

Saturday Night Snuggles

I’m *fingers crossed* down to my last row of jellybean’s blanket!! Then it gets a good soak and blocking to flatten out those hexigons!. I have yarn left over so in considering a single crochet or some other basic edging to go around the outside to give it a more polished look?

In the mean time my snuggle bunny and I have some knitting to do!!

Who needs socks when you have a fur blanket!? Lol

Happy Knitting!!

2014 Stashbustin’ #14: Hexi-ghan

I think I have found my next project and it’s perfect for my current knitting mood! I give you Hexi-ghan by verybusymonkey!

This afghan beauty is knit one hexagon at a time. After the first one you pick up some of the stitches from your finished hexagon to start the next one. So no seaming!!! This is the perfect project for my mood right now. Instant gratification when you complete a hexagon but it builds to a larger project.

I am planning to use up my stash of Bernat Cottontots cotton. Which is sadly discontinued now! (If anyone has any Cottontots hanging out in their stash they want to bargain/trade/donate PLEASE let me know. I seriously love this stuff!!)

I haven’t decided if I want to do colors by rows or just knit the colors randomly as I go. Do I want a patterned design or free form art….what would you do?

Wee Bit of Progress on a Blanket for A Wee One

Happy WIP Wednesday!!!

Remember this Stashbustin’ #34 project?

_MG_0302

It’s my One Row Blanket de la Harlot in Serentiy Premier Chunky (color aqua glass). I’m cooking Thanksgiving dinner for my in-laws tomorrow and I needed a no brainer project to work on. The yarn is soft, especially considering it’s acrylic. And the pattern is four stitches over and over again. Just one row repeated until then end. LOVE IT!!! I cannot recommend this project enough for a quick and easy baby knit. Or even just a nice and easy lap quilt for car rides or couch snuggles.

I have four skeins of yarn total and I’m almost done with the second skein. The rhythm of the needles is soothing my anxiety about tomorrow. The cooking is no sweat….but all day trapped in my home with 6 of my in-laws….bring on the wine and knitting!!!

Now I’m off to work followed by some bread and pie making for tomorrow festivities!

Never Enough Blankets

I had four skeins of Premier Serenity Chunky Heathers in Aqua Glass just hanging out in my stash. I fell in love with color and just had to have it.

I have been in a sweater fixation lately. But I find that I need a mindless project to have on the side for when I need a break or timeout. So I introduce to you, Stashbustin’ #34 or One Row Blanket De La Harlot!

20130923-103202.jpg

I have made this pattern three times before and it’s awesome-sauce for easy knitting. It’s a four stitch repeat across the row. And then the same row over and over again. Not to mention its a bulky weight blanket so it goes crazy fast!!

Based on the yarn I have this will undoubtedly come out to a lap blanket or receiving blanket size. I don’t have a recipient in mind yet. Just knitting for the fun of it!

FO Friday: Aunt Martha’s Prayer Blanket

Tah dah!!!! Aunt Marta’s Prayer Blanket is done!

_MG_0052

After a good bath and days of drying….the edges still curl (ARGH). I know it was more to hope from acrylic but still. The center also still has a little pooch. Laying flat it looks a bit like a volcano. And the outside is a bit warped like a spider web? I improvised this blanket based on the basic concepts of the Constant Square Blanket by Tina Laiho.

_MG_0054

I have to say that even with my trepidation about the colors, I rather like them together in the FO.

_MG_0058

My end product is a 38 by 40 inch square(ish) blanket. I used 882 yards or 340 grams of Caron Simply Soft yarns. I used Dusty Rose, Watermelon, and Light pink. I went down a needle size to US 7 for this project to create a tighter fabric.

Now all that’s left is to package this up and send off to Aunt Martha for her new home! Now, I’m off to pack to spend the weekend with my best friend as she celebrates the impending birth of her baby girl! Happy Friday to All!!!
