The eternity continues…Gru is still growing…
I’ve used up almost an entire skein of grey and getting ready to start a second. I figure I’m almost if not halfway there? I’ve got just about a month to Halloween so my butt needs to be in gear!

My husband’s Gru scarf is growing!
After some swatching I’ve settled on pattern ratio of black to grey. I think it’s pretty smart looking. I’ve been weaving in my ends as I go and I’ve grafted the cast on edge. This way I don’t have to fuss with the tube as it grows. I’ve taken this project in the car and to work so it can see some action before Halloween gets any closer!
P.S. My project bag for this project is a Halloween bag from dollar tree. I think it’s appropriate in this case 🙂
I totally caved…..
My husband overheard my Halloween idea and literally jumped on it. A) he loves the costume idea and B) he asked why I never made him a scarf. Where did this husband who likes knitwear come from???
I am not excited about the monotony of 7-8 foot scarf in stockinette. So I quickly decided to knit a tube and frat the end shut. I pulled some grey Caron Simply soft leftover from my grown up Sophisticate and the black from my Mini Minion Hat from the stash. I cast on 70 stitches in the round with the grey on a US 8 circular.
Now here’s the question….are the black stripes the same size or smaller than the grey stripes? They look smaller to me but I’m not 100% sure…thoughts?

I’ve completed the heel flap and the heel turn. This is worsted weight yarn so it’s going quickly. I have no idea why this project suffered from SSS for so long!
One interesting thing I’ve noticed is that my tension has changed since I started these months ago, can you see?
I’m really trying to relax to match the original but I’m also hoping blocking will do wonders. Fingers crossed anyway! Now I’m on to the gusset and foot section.

I bit the bullet and joined the Socks with Sarah KAL over on Ravelry! There are some SERIOUSLY cool socks rocking over there!!
For my next KAL project I decided to take a twist on my last set of socks.
Pattern: Rye by Tincanknits
Yarn: Knit Picks Swish Worsted (100% merino and should make WARM socks!) in Squirrel Heather
Needles: US 4 and 5 dpns
Size: Large
Mods: I’m going to omit the garter ridges on the top of the foot and up the cuff. Don’t get me wrong they are gorgeous! I really like the fit of this sock and want a basic “vanilla” sock right now.

Huzzah, the longest and most neglected WIPs of my life is done!!!
Pattern: Strawberry Cocoon by Bernat Design Studio
Yarn: Bernat Satin Solids in Plum Mist Heather and unidentified green
This project ended up using about 376 yards of yarn or 148 grams.
Needles: US 6s or 7s?
Time: FOREVER! I started this sometime back in 2010
Mods: I didn’t knit the full 17 or 18 inches of straight body. Seriously, I just got tired of knitting and stopped at 11 inches before moving the decreases section. This thing is knit plat and then seamed, so LOTS of purls! I also didn’t make the duplicate stitches or french knot looking dots on the leaves. Again this was because I was SERIOUSLY over this project.
You have to gather or bunch up the leaves when you seam then to the main body of the cocoon. I’m not the best at seaming, but it didn’t turn out terribly!
The one feature that I do love about this now that I’m done is that this is SUPER soft thanks to the satin yarn. And look at all those wonderfully nubby P3tog bits! I love to run my fingers over them!
I do have a great feeling of accomplishment getting this out of the WIP pile. No clue what I will do with this either. But for now it’s washed, blocked, dry, and folded in my FO storage bin in my basement.

My bread and butter when it comes to sweaters is a top-down raglan. I have a unique body shape and I like to try sweaters on as I knit. This way I can make alterations if I don’t like the fit. And this sweater is all that and more.
Top down with a reversible funnel neck. Lots of easy plain stockinette with great chevron details thrown in. Just enough to make you pay attention and not get bored. And worsted weight yarn should fly off the needles!
This will be my #5 stashbustin’ project for 2014. I have some Knit Picks Brava worsted in Dove Heather. A lovely cream/neutral color to be sure. I recently dyed my hair several shades darker and I have been craving some neutral pieces to set off my new hair.

Its finally done, buttons on, and tag sewn in! 2013Â Stashbustin’ #38 is complete! This officially completes all my (non-hybernating) WIPs from 2013. I feel a great weight lifted off my shoulders!
Pattern: Sophisticate by Linden Down
Size: Medium (I should have made the large)
Needles: US 8
Yarn: Caron Simpy Soft in grey
I used 1,043 yards of yarn or 562 grams. That is about 3.31 skeins of the 6oz Caron Simply Soft.
I worked on this project on and off for several months. I should have finished waaaaay faster. But I chose to savor the process and the soothing stockinette.
I love it open or all buttoned up. (Sorry for no modeled pictures….the husband has been working overtime and therefore is unavailable to help me photograph my projects while the light is good.)
The buttons are my favorite. I found some plastic buttons that look like wooden/brushed buttons in a coordinated grey tone.
I highly recommend this pattern to all knitters! It’s a paid pattern but so worth the money! It’s creative, yet simple. And the instructions are very clear….trust me, that’s not always the case!

I had the best of intentions to finish this sweater on Christmas vacation. Yeah right, lol!
I did manage to finish both sleeves whilst traveling. (Sorry about the low light, our days are too short to get good photographs!) Here is the back view. And don’t worry the sleeves are the same length, I just didn’t get the sweater laid out very well.

All that’s left is to pick up and knit the button band and shawl collar! All in glorious knit stitch so it should go fast!
I have been knitting the medium size as that is what fit my measurements and gauge. However, trying this on (pre-blocking of course) it’s a bit tight. It fits, but I was hoping for more of a loose cozy sweater. I probably should have knit the large size or gone up a needle size on the medium. Live and learn! It will still be a lovely sweater.
That reminds me, I need to find some coordinating grosgrain ribbon! I want to reinforce the button band so that my button holes don’t sag. I’ve never done this but I have seen it lots in the blogging world. It always looks so sharp and sneaky!
