As with sock number one, I plan to knit sock number two all the way to the cuff as a tube. I’ll install both afterthought heels at the very end. I may regret this choice when I’m on “heel island”, lol.
I am little excited to get these into my sock drawer. I feel that between the patterning and knit fabric feel will mean this will be some favorite go-to socks. I have a full sock drawer now so it’s nice to be able to have lots of choices so I don’t put too much wear on any one pair of socks.
I fell down on black friday on the knit picks website. I needed two skeins of Knit Picks Biggo to finish my Peace Blanket and some how a bunch of other yarn jumped in my cart. I managed to snag coordinating sets of Felici. I got Felici Worsted and Felici Sock in the Goth Kitty and Punch Bug.
I am envisioning matching hat and sock sets. How cute would those be for future gifts? And if I get the sock yarn cranked into sock tubes they would be really quick (relatively speaking) gifts. At least that sounds like a good idea, lol.
This week’s self care is brought to you by Canada! I opened the Gauge Dyeworks newsletter at the exact right time for a shop update and the wrong time where I was feeling down about the state of the world.
This is the classic merino twist sock yarn in a self striping set of greens. The official name is Colour Study: Green. It’s 443 yards and 115 grams of the plumpest most glorious sock yarn ever. I have been letting this yarn sit out on my work at home desk so I can admire and pet before I add it to my stash.
Has the current state of affairs led you to pad your stash or use your stash? I’m somewhere in between the two….
It’s been a rough couple of weeks for everyone far and wide. I’m not going to take space here to regurgitate what is being blasted on every platform possible. What I will say is that my anxiety is very high. I am confident that this pandemic won’t last forever but the ramifications both socially and economically might last longer than we would like. And that bumps up against my anxiety triggers…..I’m an accountant after all. And it’s hard not to be worn down by the onslaught of information and empty store shelves.
I am washing my hands, talking to others support when I need it, and returning to my Midwestern roots and I’m cooking all the comfort foods I can think of. Last night I took some time to rest in bed with the following self care items:
Some really good Spotify playlists on my headphones
And a quilt that I have had since undergrad
They only thing missing was knitting friends. If anyone out there is similarly missing your knitting groups and friends please feel free to DM me. I’m always around my phone and more than happy to chat and share projects. We are a community and no one has to feel alone. Happy Knitting friends!
I’ve reached the gussets of my toe-up vanilla socks!I’m still working a basic sock with gusset heal over 64 stitches. I’ve had a bit of a problem with laddering in between my needles. I need to concentrate and pull my stitches tightly when switching needles. If I get distracted by a show or conversation I find my tension slips and I get ladders. Not that anyone will ever notice but me. Still terribly annoying…
I do love these lovely green colors. The short stripes keep me knitting along and moving from color to color. I’ve quite enjoyed the #sockswithsarah KAL this year. Have you checked it out?
